Good story, very well written, but you have one fact wrong. If a normal human beings temperature spiked to 110 degrees at any time, they'd be dead. Their brain would have fried. I think the highest a human's temperature can get without frying their brain almost immediately is between 106-107. I'm pretty sure of this, although I'm not a medical student or anything like that, so I could be wrong. Sorry, I'm just nit-picking here.
