Wow, Rachel caught on fast. The day I found out my brother had died, I didn't start to piece it together until my dad told me there'd been a helicopter wreck. Even then, all I could think was "How badly hurt, how badly hurt?" right up until he said the words. This despite the fact that dad showed up to the guidance office, where I'd been brought to wait, flanked by military officers. I was three weeks away from my eighteenth birthday, and young enough that, although I was aware that he *could* be hurt or killed in the line of duty, it never seriously occurred to me that he *would.*

I was a very different person then. *humorless laugh*

You're dead on about Abby, though. She reacts to emotional turmoil and hurt by lashing out. We've seen it every single time Rex was in danger, and also on other occasions that I can't think of at the moment.

Anyway, I'm seriously enjoying going through your works on here and I hope the collection continues to grow. The characterization is excellent, and just - the whole thing has me hooked. Seriously, I had a bunch of things I wanted to do today and I've done approximately none of them because this is so good. It's okay, though - I'll get it all done eventually. :)
