TITLE: The Comedy of Errors

Summary: Izaya didn't know when Shizuo started changing from a warm protective lover, to the opposite, however; it doesn't matter what Izaya thinks anymore. The jurors want Shizuo to declare in the name of Japan's law, if he had anything to do with his former lover's disappearing 31 years ago. AU Shizaya, mystery, romance and violence.

WARNING:Male x Male (YAOI) Violence, mystery and its Alternative Universe (AU), OOC and angst, future lemons. Movie inspired story, not original.

RATE: T (considering changing very soon)

DISCLAIMER:I don't own any character from the series Durarara! And I don't own anything of the movie; All Good things - romantic drama film directed by Andrew Jarecki

Notes:Yes, I ever so deliberately took the idea from "All good things" which is one of my favorite movies. Sue me. I'm too lazy to create something but I promise I'll diverge at least a bit from the original movie plot, so don't worry. I really wanted to fill the prompt of the sweet anon who desperately messaged me. I hope I can do this since the movie is based on a "true event" case. But I'll change the ending I guess and also other things, so you can watch the movie- if you want- *smiles*

This Chapter was corrected by my dear friend "Shirohime- Shizaya stories" Go check her because she is amazing. So thanks to my amazing BETA Shiro *hearts* love you.

Prompt: Crime/mystery and romance. Totally Shizaya, something sweet but very wicked, I want some suspense, established relationship plus twisted ideas, violence and angst if it is possible, want some angsty smut if it isn't too much. Please, author-san?

"Please, please let me leave" This was the surrendering point, he couldn't take it anymore. Another sob and a harsh cry mixed with implore and Shizuo didn't even blink at the imminent pain Izaya was demonstrating for the very first time.

"Just return home."

"Please, Shizu-chan… this is destroying me." Another sob and there was no doubt Izaya was breaking apart. The wired phone was being gripped tightly by Izaya's hand while he trembled and erased every coy vestige or remnant of preeminence he could ever have.

Izaya's hand trembled as he covered his mouth ever since he couldn't stop the avalanche of mournful feelings bubbling to roll from his eyes as water salty drops.

"Get back home, it will be fine."

"No-" Another unforgiving sob and Izaya's raven front tresses plastered onto his face by the salty tears that wouldn't stop. Even they were merely speaking by the phone, right now it felt more personal than other encounters, "-just let me go…"

The deadpan man in suit in the other line just stared at the window for a second. He had the phone between his ear and shoulder while he disinterestedly heard Izaya holler as he checked on his company papers and documents, his suit impeccable and his pose doubly.

"Get back home Izaya, we will be fine."

No feeling, no consideration, no pity and no love, Izaya sobbed a couple of minutes into the phone while his head pitifully pressed against the cold window glass, his vermillion irises focused on the martyr sky, wondering if the sky was swelling like him. Izaya's hand presses against the glass, which was getting plummeted by the heavy rain, his hand curled against the casement as if he could touch beyond distance in an urgent ungraceful begging deed.

"Shizu-chan… please, this is destroying me."

"Get back home."

That was an order.

"As a requirement you have to say your name to the ladies and gentlemen from our respectable Jury."

"Eh… Heiwajima Shizuo"

A nod.

"Heiwajima-san, where were you born?"

"Ah… In Ikebukuro city."

"Is your father still alive?"

"Yes, sir." The lawyer's irises spotlighted russet eyes.

"Is your mother still alive?"

Silence.

"No, sir."

"How old were you when your mother died?"

"Uh …Seven." Another nod from the law prosecutor in front.

"Were you present, when she died?"

"….yes sir"

"How did she die?"

Motionlessness

"She died in the most violent way…"

-This story is inspired by events that took place between January 1971 and November 2003 in Texas, Los Angeles and New York. These places were currently changed to Shibuya, Shinjuku and Ikebukuro.-

"Shizuo, if you don't mind, I would like to ask a bit more about your past."

Shizuo opened his eyes; he was sitting on the declaratory chair while being interrogated by an aged tall man. The tranquility of the interrogated made the legal representative shift awkwardly to gain Shizuo's attention.

"Shizuo?" The lawyer asked, looking concerned by Shizuo's sudden silence. Shizuo fixed his translucent spectacles which tried to hide fatigued auburn eyes; his hand ruffled his blond hair, the dyed hiding well the many years behind his back. No longer youthful but an elderly classy man looking rather lost in thoughts.

Shizuo lifted his head to look at the place around.

The once fresh skin was covered with wrinkles from epoch; his brown eyes no longer those of a young mid-twenties strong man. The time and- perhaps- something else did a superb job in converting the –once- warm incidence Shizuo held, to reinstate it, leaving instead a wintry iron, adept-looking man.

"I'm sorry?" Shizuo spoke calmly.

"Your past Shizuo… I want to hear about your past."

Like a bolt of lightning, the reminiscences crashed in his cranium as he recalled every piece of derelict instance of his existence, his old mind putting all the pieces together, every wrecked memory, every wretched noise…

The desolation, the dejection, the misery…

It was just everything…

The whole lot

….

A solemn nod from Shizuo's part.

The lawyer's eyes locked with Shizuo from where he stood, the felonious smile over the attorney's lips was something he couldn't miss, though his face and with all honesty; his heart was as deadpan as always.

"If you could be more accurate to detail what happened in that year of 1971, January, where acquaintances of yours said you first met him; to that overcast day of December of 1972 where your former lover was last seen."

A hasty heart-jolt.

Izaya….?

Another nod.

The lawyer stepped forwards Shizuo, who was seemingly unresponsive. The accusation was clear. The lawyer would do anything to make Shizuo sink himself behind bars.

"Mr. Heiwajima if you cooperate, and discontinue hindering around… we will be able to close thiscold case, you will oblige and retail what happened exactly with Orihara Izaya 31 years ago-"

The counterpart; Shizuo's lawyer stood abruptly, "your honor, I beg to diff-"

Shizuo's hand raised as it to shut his own lawyer, the somberness of his eyes said he was fine with such aggravations.

The silence of the court said much.

Shizuo closed his eyes, ready to go back to those bittersweet days:

The astringent laugh, the cheerful throbbing- back in his mind, back in time: back in Ikebukuro 1971.

"I'll tell."

AN/ Short prologue, yeah actually I'm changing a lot from the movie, I know it sounds like it but I promise it will get better. I'm really more into the investigation of the real case, if you want to know I will link it to my profile soon. Hope it wasn't confusing because I really like this kind of things, I spend my days watching Investigation Discovery ID *sobs* however, I will soon update Rabbit Hole, when time gets to love me.

Review and Follow and yeah, I've been busy. And sorry for the long notes at the beginning and end, I just noticed it's more rambling than story but I'll update this soon.

Also this is the direct competition to "Rotten Vermillion" because I wanted to know which story you would like to read better. Yeah it sounds similar to Rotten Vermillion but trust me guys, it IS NOT.

SO keep stunned.

LOVES.

NOTE PLEASE READ:Also I want to make a little plea, go check "NOVOUX" is my favorite Shizaya author. He is indeed an amazing and very outstanding writer. Go read his stories and please let himknow he is remarkable, stupendous, and amazing because *sobs* he doesn't know that. If you are here reading angst and love then you'll love him, he is the father of "angst" and Shizaya at the same time. No author can ever compare to him.

You also like fluff? He has many stories about only romance too, those are undeniably beautiful. Around 50 and MORE Shizaya stories down his name, they are in the majority one-shots but please you'll be addicted to him as I am. I am addicted to NOVOUX please guys do yourself that favor, go to him, read and review him.

And no I'm not saying this because I know him or something, I've sent him letter as a "fan", so basically I don't know him *sobs* but PLEASE read them, you are still in FF searching for extraordinary IN-character stories, then go read him and REVIEW.

So thank you very much for your patience and love.

Thank you.
