Hey guys! It is I, the Phoenix, back with yet another new story.

However, this one is a little different from the others.

Because ladies and gentlemen, I am proud to present the first Fate crossover on the net with my new favorite series, Infinite Dendrogram. And one of the first Infinite Dendrogram fics on the FanFiction website to be honest. The only other one I know of is Worm: Justice For All, and that one isn't really focused on the Infinite Dendrogram side of things.

Honestly, I began to read the Light Novels on a whim, but then I was captivated by how flawless the Gamer system was.

Honestly, I don't know why people aren't worshipping it like Demon Slayer, because it is the best Isekai Gamer anime/light novel out right now.

Sword Art Online?

Utter garbage compared to this.

Overlord?

Move over Bone Daddy, because you've just been dethroned.

Why, Mr. Phoenix, are you so passionate about this, you may ask.

The answer is that I hate it when people appreciate power fantasy garbage and ignore the actual gems out there.

Infinite Dendrogram has no plot armor, with the MC, Ray Starling, actually hsing logic and superior tactics to win his battles. Even if he does get a Deus Ex, he still pays for it heavily later on. In this series, no character is OP just because, and each character has fleshed out skillsets, strengths and weaknesses, along with actual backgrounds and character. Hell, even the NPCs have character development!

I couldn't just ignore this series like everyone else.

That is why, I am releasing this crossover fic, to get more people interested in Infinite Dendrogram.

I don't even think that the Category exists yet on this site, which is sad, because even the anime has been out for a month or two now. That's the reason why I couldn't post this as a Crossover and had to put it up as a pure Fate fic. I hope the FanFiction people can fix this error soon.

To be honest, only Rising of the Shield Hero is on the same level as this franchise, because I swear to god this series is so well organized and rich in both character development and lore that I honestly expect it to become the next big thing if the new anime does it any justice.

Because seriously, it is the best Gamer Isekai (sort of) out right now. That much I can say with absolute certainty. If the anime doesn't do it justice, then read the manga. If that doesn't work for you either, then read the Light Novel.

End point is, give the series a shot, because it is seriously underrated, especially for such a meaningful and fleshed out story.

I honestly don't know any game out there that has lore as rich as Infinite Dendrogram. Not to mention such a cool and easy to write Gamer System. I thought my Multiplayer fic had an easy Gamer system, but this is way easier.

*Ahem*

Before I keep ranting, I'd just like to get on with the story. This is also my first story involving Shirou Emiya, so I'm kind of excited myself. While you guys might recognize a couple parts from other stories, please understand that it was only a paragraph or two and that I used them only because I didn't understand how to properly novelize a few scenes.

Honestly, the people on Event Horizon are still badgering about those two paragraphs I copied from a dead crossover with a completely different franchise.

Anyways, that is all for now, so let me get on with the story!

AND OF COURSE, PLEASE READ OR WATCH INFINITE DENDROGRAM BECAUSE IT IS REALLY DAMN GOOD, ESPECIALL COMPARED TO THE LIKES OF SAO AND DEATH MARCH RHAPSODY.

And of course, please show support for Sakon Kaidou, the God who created this amazing franchise.

Chapter 1 - Infinite Possibilities

Circuits cried out in pain, unable to supply much more Magical Energy.

Shirou Emiya felt the last bit of Rin's borrowed Mana fade away. Gasping in pain, Shirou gazed towards his foe, the now arm-less king before him, and gasped in pain whilst the golden Servant's blood stained his clothes.

He could feel the last vestiges of Unlimited Blade Works fading from the outside world as its owner could no longer support its external manifestation with Magical Energy.

Gilgamesh straightened himself and directed a glare towards him. Although compared to past glares, this gaze told him that what Gilgamesh felt was less annoyed and more… tolerating.

In fact it was somewhat similar to respect.

That, or Shirou's eyes were playing tricks on him. Probably the second, because he hadn't known Gilgamesh for too long, but from what he did know, the King of Heroes would rather sacrifice his left kidney than acknowledge a Faker like him.

"Running out of Mana is a pathetic ending." Gilgamesh said, calling out to his Gate of Babylon and readied a sword to spear through Shirou, who appreciated the irony for what it was with a trace of morbid humor.

"The victory is yours. Die with that satisfaction, faker."

Shirou's limbs cried out as he tried yet again to move, unwilling to meet any kind of demise. Unfortunately, fighting the King of Heroes whole only being a human 3rd Rate Magus wasn't exactly easy on the physical frame. Or the mind, now that his Reality Marble was giving him a headache with all of the memories he was receiving from it.

Honestly, he didn't need to know that one of Archer's jobs had been to eliminate a whole city just because of an anthropomorphic rabbit that could somehow bend reality to its will.

Unfortunately, the rabbit survived, while the people of the city hadn't been so lucky. The damned beast (Archer's words/thoughts) had walked away from the carnage nibbling on a carrot.

...

...

Yeah, it wasn't hard to see why Archer hadn't exactly been enthusiastic about his gig as a Counter Guardian.

Anyways, Shirou grit his teeth in frustration as his body protested.

However several seconds passed in silence, confusing the Emiya greatly.

Was the golden a*shole not going to end him? In fact when Shirou looked closer, he noticed that Gilgamesh was still heaving heavily.

Did it cost the Servant that much Mana to shoot out his treasures like a bullet? Come to think of it, since he was a Servant, he was pretty sure Kirei or Shinji was the one giving the power, probably the former, because the latter had no Magical Circuits.

Honestly, matters in Shirou's life began to get increasingly convoluted and confusing from the moment he had decided that going towards mysterious loud explosions and bright lights was a great idea. Well, in his defense, there could have been people who needed help. And that made everything okay in his eyes.

Not the smartest way of thinking, but not a bad one either.

This was the path he had chosen, after all.

Those kinds of thoughts died out as soon as Shirou saw something odd.

Appearing from where Gilgamesh's severed limb would have been, a small burst of malevolent Mana made itself known, bursting from the golden Servant's side in a hollow cry that made it sound alive.

"What!?" Gilgamesh said in shock, as it expanded and grew larger.

He held onto his shoulder where it chose to drift to once it manifested, and gritted his teeth.

"Swallowing me accomplishes nothing-!"

What ever Gilgamesh planned to say next was cut off as dust and Mana were dragged into it, causing it to expand, enveloping the entirety of the Golden Servant, and creating something Shirou had only ever heard of; a black hole.

"Wait!" The King called out, despite the fact that it would not listen.

"A hole left by the Holy Grail..?" Those words left Shirou's mouth without his knowledge. Not the most eloquent of comments, but he wasn't exactly in the most stable of states.

The hole of the Grail grew until it formed into a true black hole around the size of a garage door, unrelentingly and not permitting anything to escape it's grasp.

It was at this time that Shirou cursed his lack of magical knowledge to explain the phenomenon before him. Then again, he was the same guy who fought Ireland's Child of Light with a Reinforced poster and actually survived to tell the tale. Ever since his dad had died, taking a treasure trove of magical knowledge with him, Shirou had been struggling to pick up the pieces on his own. With no instruction on what to do or how to do it regarding Magecraft, he had done what he could, and honed the few Arts he was good at and honed them to a whole new level.

Projection was weak? He could Project Noble Phantasms. He'd evolved the damn thing into Tracing, for crying out loud!

Reinforcement wasn't that great? He could fight back against the physical might of a Servant with his Reinforced body.

Structural Analysis was useless? He could not only glean the composition and forging methods of any blade just by Analyzing it, but also actually read its user history and techniques.

Essentially, he was a living f*ck you to all the pompous Magus' at the Clock Tower, a fact that seemed to annoy Rin all the time.

Honestly, if he were any less unorthodox of a Magus, he might not have survived the Holy Grail War and reached this point in the first place.

However, it seemed that his introspection and thoughts had left his guard open as a golden chain shot out from the hole, wrapping around Shirou's arm. Even if he saw it coming, his arms were in constant pain and screamed in protest. His Mana had run dry as well, meaning that he couldn't even Reinforce the limb to get some use out of it.

He couldn't have dodged it in time.

The sudden pull made Shirou jump to his feet in order to keep himself from being dragged into the hole. He could feel his muscles cry in protest at the action, but it was either the burning pain or winding up within the hole before him. Something he did not want at all, because he heard that black holes weren't exactly healthy for the human body.

Magical black holes were probably much worse.

"That malformed abomination!"

Shirou strained his ears once he heard the Golden Servant's voice once more.

He gazed at the hole from where the chain had originated, only to see Gilgamesh dragging himself out using his left arm, which was admittedly a remarkable feat.

He didn't really think he'd ever see someone as pompous as Gilgamesh in such a position, but the fear of death apparently was enough to move even the mighty King of Heroes.

"Does it not know that a fellow Servant cannot be made it's core!" Gilgamesh shouted.

At least Shirou now knew what the Grail was attempting. Not that it really did him any good. Stopping Evil Gods from using a magic wish machine to manifest himself in reality wasn't something up his alley. He could only fight, and not much else. He could only hope that he could buy Rin and Saber enough time to deal with the Grail.

Shirou gritted his teeth as he felt himself being dragged even closer. "Damn…" he voiced out. "Are you trying to take me with you?"

"Fool! I haven't the least bit of intention of dying! Stay where you are… at least until I climb back to where you are!"

Instantly, Shirou grew irritated. "Don't you dare try that with me!"

While Shirou did not want the King of Heroes to survive, he also did not want to die here, even if he would willingly do so if no other option presented itself. So Shirou strained his body once more and pushed his feet into the dirt, trying to create a more stable footing.

Unfortunately it didn't seem to work as he was dragged ever closer.

"If I need to, I'll rip of my own arm to keep you there!"

The two continually struggled against each other, both unwilling to share an unsatisfying end.

"Yeah, you do that, but do move a little to the left as you do so." said a familiar sarcastic voice, and both of them turned to see Archer standing just outside the tree line with his bow at the ready.

Shirou thought the man had gotten obliterated by Gilgamesh's barrage earlier, but he was more than happy to see that he had been wrong.

Because after all, while the guy might have been a massive jerk, he actually had a really good reason to act that way. Shirou was sure that Archer still felt the call of their chosen ideal, no matter how much he tried to close his heart to it, so acting the way he had with them couldn't have been all that easy. Especially with Rin and Saber.

"You!" howled Gilgamesh in fury.

Was it just him, or were Fakers just crawling out of the woodworks today?

As Archer pulled back his bowstring, destiny was changed.

In a thousand universes, Archer would have released the arrow and struck the Golden King straight in the forehead, killing him and securing their rather safe victory.

However, in this one, things did not go so smoothly.

A small trickle of Mana was enough to rock the course of this Shirou Emiya's life way off course, in a direction that couldn't have been foreseen even with Clairvoyance.

Gilgamesh snarled, and a second portal appeared next to him, shooting towards Archer and spearing him through the arm, and although it didn't pierce that deep, it was still enough to cause it to jerk, causing him to drop his bow and sending his arrow wide.

Archer grunted in pain as he was immediately dragged towards Shirou, the chain wrapping around the limb it had pierced.

Shirou grunted as he forced his body to move with everything he had left, and managed to loop his arm around Archer's as the older man drew close enough.

"Damn it!" yelled the Counter Guardian, fighting through the pain and attempting to keep himself from being pulled in.

To their displeasure, for once in his life Gilgamesh had decided not to waste time gloating and instead decided to continue his one armed rope climbing, which unfortunately, was beginning to work as he now had another person to anchor to.

Gritting their teeth, the older and younger versions of Shirou Emiya met each other's eyes, and an unspoken message was passed between them.

Stop the bastard, no matter the cost.

At the same time, the ground beneath their feet broke apart, causing them to lose their footing and move rapidly towards Gilgamesh, with Shirou taking the lead and Archer begging dragged along not too far behind him, the Servant having been able to acquire a more stable footing due to being able to Reinforce his body.

"Archer!" cried Shirou, and the Servant grunted, Projecting a nameless Noble Phantasm and shooting the sword to his younger counterpart with all of his remaining power, who managed to catch the blade and oriented it in such a way with his chained arm that its momentum allowed it to cleanly pierced the King of Heroes through the heart when they collided.

With a last burst of energy, he managed to twist his arm around as the chain constricting it slackened, striking the tip of the other chain piercing Archer's arm and allowing him to get free as it was dislodged.

To both their horror however, this meant that Shirou was the only one getting dragged towards the Grail as the chain around his arm, though loosened, was still connected to him and aimed towards the portal, where Gilgamesh, who was almost completely swallowed by the Grail's black hole, still managed to manage one last act of spite before he seemingly died, sending Shirou on a collision course with the same hole.

The last thing the young Magus heard before everything went black was Archer's yell of fury and sorrow.

But even if he knew he was no doubt going to die, Shirou was content. He didn't regret his choice.

Because he had done it to save them all.

The pain hadn't stopped rising yet. It was as if reality was twisting, ripping, and stitching him together at the same time.

Hell, he couldn't believe it was possible that even being stabbed in the chest a hundred times by Gáe Bolg would be preferable to this hell.

What was even going on? Shouldn't he be dead? Why was there all this pain?!

He could feel his mind breaking and mending, breaking and mending, breaking and mending, mending and breaking, breakmending, breame-

THE PAIN! WHY WON'T IT STOP! WHY WAS THERE ALWAYS SO MUCH PAIN?!

It was all because of those pathetic humans, who couldn't accept their own faults. Instead, they forced it all on him! He needed to OBLITERATE-

Wait, why would he think that?! He had to save humanit-

HUMANITY DOESN'T DESERVE SAVING! NONE OF THEM MATTER! THEY DID THIS! THEY CURSED ME! THEY ALL DESERVE TO DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE!

What?! No, he would never entertain such a thoughts! He promised the old man, that he would become a Hero of Justice in his stead. He would never forsake humanity, no matter what happened! This was the path he had chosen!

'My arm! It's gone!'

Wait, that never happened. His arm was perfectly fine. I mean, it got cut up and was probably broken or bruised thanks to the chains, but it was still there!

'Saber, I love you.'

That never happened either. He never confessed to Saber. He'd been inclining more towards Ron, to be honest.

'Sakura! NOOOOO!'

THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE, SAKURA NEVER DIED! SHE WASN'T EVEN INVOLVED IN THIS BEYOND SHINJI BEING A MASTER!

'I have to save Miyu, no matter the cost!'

Who the hell was Miyu?!

What was all of this?!

It couldn't be him. It was impossible, unless he'd been living multiple lives at the same time!

Right?

But they felt so real.

No, these couldn't be his memories.

But why was he in all of them?!

As he floated in the deep abyss of the Grail, Shirou couldn't help but scream in pain and disbelief as memories that were and yet not his continued to assault his mind. He knew that Illya was killed by Gilgamesh, it happened right in front of him, and yet he had memories of Illya sacrificing herself to the Greater Grail to save him.

And on top of that he had memories of Illya surviving the war and going on to live a full life!

How could his memories be so contradictory?! Especially since he barely even knew Illya!

But he did. She was his adoptive older sister. No wait, she was his younger sister. No wait, wasn't that Miyu?!

ARGH?!

Then why did he have memories where he never learned she was related to him?!

After the seemingly never ending barrage of random memories that he couldn't recall, the void that surrounded him bled away until he was standing in a park, a very familiar park.

The architecture of the buildings around him was something one would expect to see in the ruins of a once great metropolis.

To be honest, it only took him a few seconds to recognize where he was.

It was Fuyuki.

He... he had been here before.

It was all familiar.

The fire, the flames.

The screams of the damned, the cackling of the hellish blaze.

Suddenly, he was a child again, covered in burnt clothes, with eyes as empty as the barren lands around him.

He snapped out of it, returning to the present, when he realized that the fire was actually purple, and that he could actually move forwards this time, instead of stumbling around like he had before.

Which meant he wasn't reliving the same event, but was merely in a new event that resembled it.

He trudged forwards, determined to get to the bottom of this.

He didn't have to go far, because he was struck straight in the chest by a black of purple-black miasma.

HATEDESPAIRHATEANGERFURYHATEHATEHATEHATEHATE!

Shirou screamed as the pain flooded his veins, filling his head with thoughts coated in bloodlust and agony.

Hanging on to the memory of his promise, both past and present, Shirou fought it down, still moving forwards, unwilling to let himself be devoured by the mass of pure evil he had just encountered.

"So you've finally arrived, eh?"

The casual words thrown his way made Shirou look straight ahead, where a path had been carved through the flames.

A silhouette was visible at the far end, and the male fic energy rolling off of the other being's frame was enough to tell Shirou who it was.

"Avenger." he growled, as he came face to face with the root cause of all the troubles he'd faced.

"There's no reason to sound so antagonistic.", said the Servant, his form becoming clearer.

Shirou blanched as Anger's form became clearer, taking a step back.

Because Avenger looked exactly like him.

He had darker skin, a cruel smirk that he would never have had on his face, and maliciously glowing tribal markings tattoos all over his body, but the being he was emulating could easily be made out.

"After all, the process is already nearing completion. Soon, your body will be mine, and I will be free to walk the Earth once more, and bring the despair and pain that humanity deserves."

"I won't let you!" yelled Shirou, balling his hands into fists.

Avenger merely threw back his head and laughed in a manner oddly reminiscent of Gilgamesh.

"You already have. And I'm going to enjoy killing humanity in the body of someone who swore to save and protect them. Delicious irony, don't you think?"

Words couldn't describe the rage Shirou felt towards Avenger at that moment. If it wasn't for him, Shirou would have been at home with Rin, Saber, and the others. He would have had the chance to prove Archer wrong and show the world that his ideals were worth fighting for. He could have gone on to make a world where no one had to cry anymore. Hell, if the Grail hadn't been corrupted by the bastard in the first place, he could have lived a happy life with his old family, the one that had burned away in the flames.

.

.

.

NO.

He would not accept this as his fate! He had to keep going! Keep fighting!

DIG DEEP! FIND A FOOTHOLD AND WEATHER THE STORM!

HE WOULDN'T LOSE TO THIS POMPUS BASTARD!

NOT AFTER DEFEATING THE KING OF HEROES HIMSELF! HE WASN'T GOING TO GIVE IN!

NOT WHEN THERE WAS STILL A POSSIBILITY OF ACHIEVING VICTORY, NO MATTER HOW SMALL!

THERE HAD TO BE A WAY OUT! The Grail was not indestructible, there had to be a vulnerable spot. Once he found it, he would hit it hard and fast.

"You still persist?! The process is already complete, there is nothing left to stop me now. You are mine now, Shirou Emiya!"

Shirou turned to look at Avenger and, sure enough, the Servant looked as transparent as polished glass, or maybe even obsidian...

In fact, the manifestation of the World's Evil was fading as he became enveloped by all the Grail's corrupted, necrotic energy, essentially becoming a living mass of power.

Power, that was about to be aimed at him, in an attempt to take over his body and turn him into Avenger's Avatar.

"No, there is one thing left."

Diving deep into his mindscape, among all the random memories that were forced in to his head, he found one that stood out. One where he was also trapped within a laughably small portion of the Grail. The context of the event was lost to him but he was sure that there was one thing that had successfully aided his escape.

Avalon. The Ultimate Defense and the Sheath of Excalibur. The Ideal Kingdom seen only in Arthur's dreams.

When Merlin presented the sheath to King Arthur, he implored the king to keep it at his side at all times in order to never fall. In fact, Merlin had always valued the sheath more than Excalibur itself, and its loss was what had inevitably resulted in Sabre's original death on that fateful day. With the Grail literally threatening his existence, the defense would surely come in handy.

After all, he had reached Avalon through his deeds once before.

He was as much a resident of it as Saber and Merlin were.

[Trace On]

Blue circuit lines snaked across his skin as he called upon the entirety of his Od reserves but he was shocked by how much he actually had. It was way more than his normal amounts.

Then, he realized that it wasn't actually his.

The Grail, for all its power, was just a machine. That was what had allowed Avenger to corrupt it in the first place, even though he was a weak Servant, just because his consciousness had gotten trapped in the Grail.

Or more accurately, trapped here.

The same place Shirou, a sentient mind, was also now trapped. This meant that, although he wasn't on the same leve as a Avenger, who had been here for a while, Shirou could still tap into the energy in his surroundings, causing Shirou's reserves to grow and multiply by the hundreds. The damned thing had essentially given him the tools to destroy it.

In the end, there was no need to find a weak spot. After all, did a nuke need any accuracy?

[Avalon!]

A flash of bright holy light spread from the projected scabbard across the void between realms in a furious attempt to protect its wielder from the Holy Grail.

Never before in the history of the Nasuverse had there been such an event.

The holy Light of the Everdistant Utopia was enough to hold back the Taint of the World's Evil, being the manifestation of Purity, and did it's level best to protect its user, the boy who was able to reach it's secluded paradise once before.

Avalon acknowledged him as worthy, and as such, for the first time, worked for him the same way it would have worked for its original user, someone Shirou held dear in his heart and interacted with regularly.

Driving back the Evil, for a brief moment, the Light of Avalon was able to tap into the few uncontaminated portions of the Holy Grail, temporarily seizing its functions. After all, if even a false God, a weak Servant like Avenger managed to control the Holy Grail, then what would the Light of the Fae, the power of one of the strongest Noble Phantasms in reality be able to achieve?

Tapping into the stores of energy the Holy Grail had available, Avalon did what was necessary; make the Holy Grail do what it was supposed to. It wasn't a perfect process, due to Avalon being weakened and Avenger being given so long to fester, but the Light was able to force a Miracle out of the Holy Grail.

And that was enough to change everything, granting the young boy who wanted to be a Hero his wish, in a way he could not have foreseen; by sending him to a world he could never have reached naturally, a world where Heroes still existed, and a world where Heroes were needed.

A world where a true legend could be born.

Miracles could be wrought by many different means.

That was something that Avenger himself had sought to twist, granting wishes through destruction.

However, there were other methods of granting wishes.

The Holy Grail, temporarily freed from its taint, used up all of its power to grant this wish.

Why, you may ask, did the Grail need the energy from essentially two Holy Grail Wars in order to do this?

Well, let us go over the steps the Grail had to take.

Step One.

Select an appropriate World.

Since the Subject no longer belonged to his own universe, trapped inside of the Holy Grail itself in a plane between dimensions, a Void between the threads of reality, he had to be sent to another one.

His own universe was unacceptable, as the Age of Heroes had long since ended, and there were plenty of the Subject's alternates to fill in the gaps there.

So it broadened its search to the Multiverse itself.

It found a World inhabited by black monsters known as 'Grimm', and a place where the last vestiges of humanity, alongside a peculiar parallel species known as the Faunus, tried to keep their home by fighting against them and their immortal queen.

Too easy.

The Subject was far too powerful for such a World, and would no doubt be able to do something there, but there wouldn't be any tale, any legend.

It would just be a curb stomp battle.

Besides, many of the Subject's alternates has gone there, and this Holy Grail wanted to do something unique.

It scanned another World, where an immortal vampire fought against a long family line of heroes, either directly or through his followers.

Too Bizarre.

Another World was filled with mysterious creatures that lived alongside humanity, and humans would catch them and force them to fight each other in gladiatorial battles for their own amusement.

That World didn't really need a Hero. It needed a Morality Check.

There were two Worlds out there that were simply Massive, filled with caped superheroes who fought against devastating villains.

The Subject would definitely be suited for those Worlds, but alas, the Grail didn't have the frankly ridiculous amount of energy it needed to send the Subject there safety.

Another World was a rather complex one, where players from a videogame would be teleported every hundred years or so.

Getting Warmer. But that wasn't the right one.

After several million searches, the Grail hit upon a suitable World.

This one was a strange one, which was both a game to some and reality to others, with hidden truths and secrets that made some part of the Holy Grail giddy with excitement.

However, it was filled with people who could leave Servants in the dust, and Unique Monsters to prove one's strength against.

Infinite Dendrogram.

A world of infinite possibilities.

This was the right World.

Step Two.

Breach the World barrier using an altered version of the Second True Magic.

This step was achieved with a good bit of difficulty, as even though the World wasn't a prominent one, it had some pretty strong Dimensional Firewalls.

Step Three.

Hijack World Systems to optimise Subject's Dimensional Compatibility.

This particular World ran on some clear cut Systems, unlike other Worlds, which were more difficult to manage and manipulate properly,

However, they were well defended, but it wasn't enough of a problem to halt the Grail's progress.

It temporarily had control of the World's Systems, at least until its energy ran out.

Step Four.

Analyse Dimensional Data Resources.

This World ran on what many would refer to as a 'Gamer' system. Both it's inhabitants, the 'Tians', and the ones known as 'Masters', who were in fact transmigrant gamers from the alternate Earth glued to the side of this World, were under a system of Levels and Stats. Job Classes were possessed by all those who passed childhood, denoting various 'Skills' and specialities, and Masters possessed unique versions of Living Psuedo-Noble Phantasms known as 'Embryos'.

Entities known as 'Unique Boss Monsters' and their lesser ilk roamed the 7 countries that made up this World, requiring Heroes to put them down, accruing fame and rewards in the process.

Yes, this World was the right choice. The Grail had already managed to breach the World with its accumulated power, and now all it needed to do was ensure the Subject's was safely integrated into it.

Step Five.

Create Subject's Avatar.

Tapping into the Systems of the World, the Grail began converting the Subject's body into one suitable for that World, one which ran by its rules.

It copied the Template used for 'Masters', as their Dimensional Resonance seemed the closest to the Subject's.

After converting the Subject's body, the Grail was faced with a new problem.

The World was rejecting Unlimited Blade Works. It simply could not process such an ability, a Reality Marble, in the body of anything other than an 'Embryo'. The Reality Marble couldn't be copied properly into the Subject's Avatar without further steps being taken. Another thing was that the beings of that World did not possess Magic Circuits, meaning that the Subject would essentially lose all his magecraftz

Unlimited Blade Works was an integral part of the Subject's identity, which meant that it could not be allowed to fade. And Unlimited Blade Works was only so integral because of the Magic's that correlated with its use; Tracing and Structural Analysis, which meant some method should be applied to preserve the Subject's Skills. The Grail soon found a suitable way to correct this anomaly, although it cost some energy.

Step Six.

Create a Unique Job compatible with the Subject to preserve Unlimited Blade Works.

One of the World's Systems could be used for exactly this purpose.

The Archetype System.

The Grail tapped into this System, and was flooded with information, on the different, greater than 10,000 in fact, Jobs and their different nuances.

Low-Rank and High-Rank Jobs were immediately out of the question, as they didn't have the substance necessary for the task. They could be achieve by anyone who could fulfil the conditions, which seemed really unlikely in this case, but it was better to avoid taking chances.

Besides, the Grail inferred that the Subject might want to create his own 'Build', as the Masters called it, and those two categories of Jobs had limited amounts which could be held by a person. 6 Low-Ranks and 2 High-Ranks. It might as well leave those to the Subject.

The Grail's energy seeped deeper into the Archetype System, to the location of the mythical Superior Jobs.

However, here, the Grail quite literally ran into something.

It seemed that, somehow, there was a consciousness in the Archetype System, laying dormant, but acting as a sort of security measure.

It's designation; Finder.

The Grail was wary of this new variable, as it was powerful enough to require too much of the Grail's energy to break through, and decided to instead have a conversation to see if an end could be achieved peacefully.

It went something like this;

'Finder: [QUERY]

Grail: [DATA]

Finder: [PROCESSING]

Grail: [QUERY]

Finder: [DETERMINING]

Finder: [INTEREST]

Finder: [ACCEPTED]

Grail: [GRATITUDE]

Finder: [INITIATING JOB CREATION SUBROUTINES]

Grail: [CURIOSITY]

Finder: [LOW-RANK JOB RECORDS DISCARDED. HIGH-RANK JOB RECORDS DISCARDED. SUPERIOR JOB RECORDS... PARTIAL MATCH. INADEQUATE. DISCARDED.]

Finder: [SPECIAL SUPERIOR JOB RECORDS ACCESSED. DETERMINING SUITABLE JOB FORMAT. DETERMINING JOB STATUS CORRECTIONS. DETERMINING JOB SKILLS. DETERMINATION COMPLETE. BEGINNING JOB CREATION.]

Finder: [ACCESSING 'The One' SUPERIOR SERIES. CREATING NEW ENTRY; DESIGNATION: 'The Armory'. REQUISITE CONDITIONS SET. REQUISITE TALENTS SET. REQUISITE BLOODLINE N/A. CREATING JOB STATUS CORRECTION MECHANICS. CREATING JOB SKILLS. JOB CREATION COMPLETE.]

Finder: [SELECTING SUITABLE JOB HOLDER. JOB HOLDER ALREADY ESTABLISHED. GRANTING 'The Armory' SPECIAL SUPERIOR JOB TO SUBJECT 'Shirou Emiya'. JOB INTEGRATION COMPLETE.]

Grail: [AMAZEMENT]

Finder: [ ; ) ]

Finder: [GRANTING TEMPORARY ADMINISTRATOR ACCESS.]

Grail: [GRATITUDE]'

The Grail truly was both amazed and grateful.

This 'Finder' has just made its job much easier, without even forcing the Grail to use that much power.

The entity was merely an echo of what it once was, but as an administrator of the Archetype System, it still could have caused many problems if it had stood in the Grail's Way.

The way it had created new variables and abilities to affect the world was truly incredible, and something the Grail took note of, just in case.

Good thing that Finder seemed to be just about as invested as the Grail after receiving the data on the situation.

A kindred spirit, maybe?

Anyways, the process was nearly completed, and the final steps still needed to be taken to finish it's task.

Step Seven.

Acquisition of Embryo Seed.

This Step wasn't too hard, as Finder had given it access to the World Systems unrestrictedly, so the Grail was able to hack into the Embryo System and retrieve an Embryo Seed without any issues.

Step Eight.

Implantation of Embryo Seed.

Not a problem. The World Systems naturally associates the Embryo Seeds with Masters, so everything went smoothly.

However, something strange did happen;

The Noble Phantasm inside the Subject's body seemed to react with the Embryo Seed, and seemingly vanished.

Normally, this would have meant that the Subject would be immediately swallowed by the World's Evil, but the Grail had already completed most of the process and had removed the Subject from inside of it, so he was in no danger.

The Grail analyzed what it had seen again, and after affirming that this strange reaction was of no threat to the Subject, proceeded with its mission.

Step Nine.

Stabilize Subject's Dimensional Signature.

The Grail smoothly did so, the subjects new Avatar signature fitting seamlessly thanks to his Dimensional Data now matching the signature of one of this World's natives.

Everything was complete now.

Subject Shirou Emiya's Wish would be granted, albeit in a way he hadn't intended nor imagined.

But hey, there was no spice in life without a little variety!

...

...

...

Anyways.

Step Ten.

Provide suitable information to the Subject regarding the given situation.

This wasn't difficult in the least, as the Grail already had a designated function for this matter when it was used as a medium to summon Servants. Sending the Subject without any relevant knowledge would be needlessly cruel.

So the Grail decided to give it as much information on the world as a newly starting out Master would.

That would be enough.

Step Eleven.

Teleport Subject to Suitable Starting Location.

The final task it needed to do.

Judging by the information it received from hacking into the World's Systems, the land that would reflect the Subject's ideals of Heroism would be the land dubbed 'Altar', a Kingdom of knights.

That location would be suitable, yes.

But now where should he go...

Oh?

It looked like there was a suitable location. It would also serve as a good trial.

This was the best option.

Using the last of its energy reserves, the Holy Grail sent Shirou Emiya hurtling towards a destiny he never could have foreseen.

The feeling of wind slapping against his face was what roused Shirou back to consciousness.

Blearily, he opened his eyes, trying to rub his face.

But for some reason, his arms couldn't quite reach him, and he felt as if he was swimming through molasses, with violent winds whipping past him and keeping him disoriented.

Why was that?

Was he dead? For real this time?

He opened his eyes with effort, only for them to widen comically in shock.

The reason he was having such trouble moving was because he was in freefall.

Shocked back into his normal level of alertness, Shirou decided to focus on actually surviving this situation before he contemplated on it and what exactly was going on.

But he didn't know how to fly!

Suddenly, he received a rush of memories, no doubt from one of Archer's experiences.

At the forefront of his mind was a way to survive this.

"Trace... On!" he intoned.

Nothing happened.

Shirou blanched.

"Trace On!"

Still nothing.

Belatedly, Shirou realized that he could no longer feel his Magic Circuits.

In fact, his whole body felt foreign to him, as if had been reduced to atoms and then rebuilt.

Without any way to draw on his magic, Shirou could do nothing but try to brace himself for the inevitable impact.

It seemed, that he was off to a great start on his new adventure, in a world of infinite possibilities.

Not for the first time, Shirou Emiya cursed his E-Rank Luck.

Huh, did I just describe how an Isekai was made, step by step? I didn't even realize it!

Anyways, that is the first chapter, which is usually the chapter I write the worst, unfortunately. I'm already a quarter done with the next chapter, so it should be out soon enough, so please reserve your judgement for that.

Anyways, there are several things to be discussed.

First of all, the Shirou I am using is the UBW Shirou, who is the strongest outside of the Miyuverse Shirou, but he has the memories of his alternates thanks to his little experience. If you think he might be too OP, then think again.

Infinite Dendrogram has people who can steal a person's heart from hundreds of meters away and level entire states. Cursed Arm Hassan would go cry in a corner if he ever went up against Xunyu.

Anyways, the next thing is Shirou's Embryo. Obviously, it is a Type Maiden with Arms, and I've hinted at her identity already. She will be a pure support type, since Embryos respond to the needs of the user, and what Shirou needs is support and healing, since he has a killer offense.

If you have any suggestions for her Forms and the Skills they unlock, then PM or Review. I have my own, of course, but I'm always open to ideas.

Next up his Shirou's Job, The Arsenal.

Obviously, I did not want to give him a Superior Job to start off with, but if we're being realistic, Sense Skills wouldn't refer to magical abilities like Tracing, but only mundane stuff like cooking. He would have, logically speaking, started off with a completely clean slate, which would have defeated the purpose of me making a crossover.

Some might have wanted me to use 'The Faker' as a Superior Job, and I actually considered it, but decided to stop trying to degrade Shirou's abilities and decided to make them as magnificent as possible.

Of course, his powers are greatly weakened and restricted, but he has the ability to make them more powerful than they ever were before.

Plus, The Arsenal suits Shirou very much. Very very much, as those of you who know what UBW is could tell.

More development and the ramifications of starting off with a Superior Job will be revealed soon.

And Finder is an Infinite Job who created the Archetype System to govern Jobs far in the past, for those of you who do not know. It just seemed likely that he would store a fragment of his consciousness in the very important system he created.

Anyways, I know some of you guys will throw a hissy fit about how I'm perverting Fate Lore or something, but let's be honest, the Nasuverse isn't even going to matter in this fic.

Anyways, from what I can tell. that's everything I wanted to say. And his outfit will be the same one in the thumbnail.

And yes, he has been dropped in Altar.

Chronologically speaking, he joined the game about 7 months or so earlier than Ray Starling, about a month or two before the SUBM Gloria attacked in Dendro time.

Anyways, what Jobs should I give Shirou? He already has The Armory, which is a Superior Job, but what Low Rank and High Rank Jobs should I give? Remember, things like cooking and swordsmanship are Sense Skills that he already knows thanks to his real life training and particular powerset.

Please PM or Review with any suggestions.

And for those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about, please read the books or manga, which are available online for free, or watch the anime. Because more people need to know about this anime!

Spatialphoenix here, burning to ashes.

P.S. - Yes, our boy Shirou will wreck faces on the back of his trusty Prism Steed. Probably going to be one of the first Fate fics where Shirou has an actual mount.
