Chapter 2

Telling the friends...

Disclaimer: This won't show up anymore from now on. It pains me to see this hideous thing. The disclaimer I mean, not the story. Also, I'm introducing a few OCs, as well as other dog's and cat's we love so much.

Summary:" Catherine Taile finds out she's pregnant with Diggs Howler's and her first child. But they've been keeping their relationship a secret from most of their friends and coworkers. What will happen when everyone finds out in the worse way possible? Things will only get worse as everyone tries to figure out who the father is...

How will Diggs react when he finds out?"

Read, React, Review, Repeat, you all know the rest.

And to Rosebud: I already put a note in the first chapter stating twice that they were anthropomorphized. I basically made them more human with hands with thumbs, walking upright and wearing clothes(Or not wearing clothes... It depends). If you do not know what an anthropomorphism is look it up on Wikipedia. It's like a more literal form of personification. Or Furry, and yes, they're the same shit.

Enjoy!

Diggs groaned as he heard Catherine's voice mail pickup on his call again. For the fifth time. In the past twenty minutes.

"What's eating you?", Butch said as he turned to his friend as he drunk his coffee. Diggs was pacing back and forth for half an hour trying to reach Catherine's collar and or phone line, but she was either mad at him and didn't want to talk to him or couldn't get to her phone right now.

"It's nothing. Just,", He gestured to his collar, "I feel like Catherine's been avoiding m-us for a while now. I'm just a bit worried is all.", He said, managing to catch himself.

"Calm down, pup. You're just worrying too much.", He said as he sat up and looked out the window of their transport pod, "Looks like we're here.", He spoke as he stepped out and checked his utility collar to make sure it was secured right and ready, Diggs following suit.

'I just hope Catherine's okay, and that she's not mad at me.'

...

Catherine sighed as she got out of bed. Again. The baby kept waking her up at odd intervals even though it wasn't even big enough to kick her yet.

She was now four weeks pregnant and still hadn't told Diggs about their child. Early that day Katy had constantly bugged her about telling the father(Diggs), only to get a very angry, currently hormonal, Catherine yelling in her face ,"I KNOW I SHOULD TELL HIM, DAMMIT! GET OFF MY BACK ABOUT IT! I'M HAVING A BABY AND DON'T NEED ALL THESE FUCKING HEADACHES!", And with those words she had stomped out of the kitchen, taking with her a bowl of oatmeal and a pack of graham crackers to sooth her ravenous(though very strange) cravings.

To say that Katy was shocked would have been an understatement. She was just glad that her daughters were off at school, they would have been scared out of their minds had they heard their aunt yelling so loud and angrily.

Katherine groaned getting out of the bed, hissing slightly as her foot pads touched the cold floorboards of the bedroom. When this was all over, she was going to hit Diggs so hard in the balls that his ancestors would feel the blow. Then she'd kiss him and tell him some false promise of no more sex.

After relieving herself she went back to bed, curling up with her tail wrapped around her ankles and the blanket falling off her shoulders slightly. Tomorrow was going to be a hectic day for her and Katy, she had to return to work in order to tell Tabs about her pregnancy. She could just picture it in her head; Tabs would look at her like she was crazy, then he'd hear what she said after thirty seconds of the words bouncing around in his brain, then he'd either scream or choke on air or a hairball...Maybe even spill hot coffee on his lap...Yeah cause nothing said, 'Congrats on the the new life!', Like spilling hot coffee on your self.

At least she'd have a small bit of entertainment to ease her nerves...

Closing her eyes she sighed, knowing that Diggs had been sent on a dogs only mission that required him to be away for several more days. He wouldn't be returning until well past next week, but that didn't mean he hadn't called her when he could to chat and say his I love you's. She hadn't even dared to pickup the phone today she was to afraid she'd let something important slip. She preferred if he was with her and not on a potentially life threatening mission God-knows-where on Earth. She was beginning to think it was her hormones, even though she knew it was simply her love and worry for him being on his solo missions. Dogs did travel in packs, where they were safer in larger numbers. But then again, this was Diggs she was worrying about. He'd find at least thirty three ways to get in danger. Twenty five if he had some one with him.

'I need to stop worrying so much,' She mentally scolded herself, 'This can't be good for either of us.', The thought itself referring to the growing babe(s) in her womb and her.

With those thoughts, she crawled back into her bed curling up as she entered dream land, dreaming of Diggs and herself with a small bundle in their arms...

-The Next Day-

Catherine didn't notice it before, but there were a lot of dangerous devices and equipment in M.E.O.W.S.'s secret base. That and many pointy things, corners, and a lot of stairs to fall down. She nearly had a heart attack just coming down her tube she normally takes to and from her home. And she wasn't even showing signs of pregnancy...at the moment, though she'd noted that her stomach was somewhat tighter. Katy had been by her side up until she had been called away to check with the training of some new recruits. Before she had left, though, she had turned back to Catherine and given her a thumbs up, mouthing, 'Good Luck.', before rushing off to the training areas.

Catherine had decided to walk around a bit before she went directly to Tabs' office. She merely brushed off the hot stares she got from males and females alike. She wasn't gone for a week(After coming to terms with her pregnancy), and they were drooling like she'd just stepped clean out of shower in a thin silk towel. Luckily, though, she wasn't wearing THAT. Though Diggs has seen her wearing such and far less... But now, she wore a simple red turtleneck and form fitting black pants that showed off her slender but athletic curves. It was nothing short of her usual attire.

The attire she'd later grow out of in what would be the longest nine months she'd ever face.

"Hey, Catherine!", Came familiar, rather high despite the masculine tone, voice. Turning, Catherine was met by the sight of an orange and white furred tom rushing over with a folder held in his hands, a smile plastered on his face. He wore a standard black turtle neck sweater, red collar and black pants as was one of the usual ways to dress when you were a secret agent, "Catherine, It's been a week! Were you avoiding me again?", He asked as he grinned in a stupid manner.

Rolling her eyes, Catherine relaxed a bit as she turned to fully face the young tom, Garret was his name. The tom had practically fused into her side when he had first arrived at M.E.O.W.S., mostly because she had been the only one able to stay near him for two hours and not want to gag him with his own tail... She considered it more affective to just shove a piece of food in their just so he'd have something to do. It was vaguely clear to mostly everyone that he looked up to her as a role model rather than potential love. There had been a small rumor going around that he was orphaned while still a kitten.

"Hey, Garret. What poor cat did you talk to death today?", She said, knowing he would simply redirect his attention to anyone else who couldn't think of an excuse fast enough to dodge the assault of words had she not shone up.

Garret clutched the area over his heart, eyes widening dramatically in false alarm/hurt, "Catherine... Ow, right in the pride! But seriously, Cat.", Garret said, taking on a somewhat serious face, which was a bad omen in Catherine's book of dangers, "Where have you been the past week? You didn't come in and there was no explanation on your register status. Some people have been talking, and they're not saying some of the most kind words.", He finished, flattening his right ear to his head as he used it to point off to something out of her sight range.

Following the angle of his ear and turning slightly to see the intended subject, Catherine frowned slightly as she saw who he was referring to. A calico furred female and several of her cronies with similar clothes, which included dark blue tops, purple collars and beige pants that stopped a bit down the lower legs.

Turning back to Garret with a sigh, Catherine immediately had a brief understanding of what had occurred in her absence, "Cali and her little tag-along team?".

Garret nodded, leaning his left hip against the metal pillar they were conversing near with his tail swaying low with bemusement, "Yep, the little acid coated hairball can spread a rumor like back alley fleas at a rave.", He said, "Though, I'm sure that's not the only thing she can spread well when no ones watching...".

Catherine slapped his shoulder lightly as she gave a small laugh, "Gar! You know I don't like her either, but that's low!".

Garret smiled, "Not as low as she'll go, or has gone.", His face once again took on a serious look, "But seriously, Catherine. She's been spreading the rumors, and she's not to vague in her hate.".

Catherine let a dreadful sigh pass between her parted lips, "You think I never noticed it before? Even before Kitty Galore, the little scruff's been on my case.", Catherine was well aware that the other female feline was in a very aggressive competition with her, if not just because Catherine had turned down member ship in her little posse, "But I don't care for her at the moment. I've got bigger issues to take care of.", She said, remembering why she'd decided to take a walk around the base.

"Ooh, a secret! Let me in on it!", Garret said with wide amber eyes, "You know you can trust me with a secret. I-Mm-mm-mm!", He was promptly silenced when Catherine grabbed a hold of his lips and held them together firmly.

Catherine looked around carefully, making sure no one was eavesdropping on their conversation, before turning back to Garret who was giving her the Kitten Gaze(Big pupils, eyes wide and round, whiskers and ears angled downward / Basically the cat version of the puppy dog face).

"That face was never cute on you.", Catherine said as she dragged him along, keeping his lips sealed manually even as he groaned in protest and slight pain.

Once they were away from prying eyes, Catherine released his lips, earning a slight shout in pain as he cupped his mouth, "Ah! One of these days I'm gonna take you to get those things clipped or something!", He said angrily as he pointed to her clawed finger tips, the porcelain surfaces glinting slightly in the light of the over hanging lights.

Catherine regarded her claws with amusement before she remembered what she'd dragged Garret down here for, "Garret, what I'm about to tell you... You must promise to keep it a secret, no matter what. Understood?".

"Cross my heart, hope to die, stick a needle in my e-Ow!", He received a flick to the nose for his attempt at cuteness.

"I'm serious!", She hissed, ears flattening against her head in agitation.

Garret saw that this was something that was really affecting her and dropped his childish act, "Okay, I understand, Catherine. Now whats got you all worked up like this? Is Diggs okay?", He said, knowing that Catherine had feelings for the stubborn former K-9 canine. Maybe Diggs and her had had an argument over something... Was that why she was out all week?

He couldn't see Catherine sitting on a couch eating a tub of chocolate ice cream as she ranted about Diggs being... well Diggs.

Catherine took a deep breath as she stared at the orange tom in front of her, the words creeping out like a hesitant little creature, "Garret...I'm pregnant.".

THUMP!

Catherine's eyes widened as she saw the now unconscious tom sliding down the wall he'd slumped against, a slight dent in the metal where his head had struck as he fainted, "Garret? Garret! Wake up, Garret.", She said as she shook him back and forth slightly, slapping his cheeks a little. "Great, just great. First I find out I'm pregnant and now I just put Garret into a coma."

Hearing a gasp she whirled around and dropped into a ready to spring kneeling position, hands drawing the hidden plasma pulse gun from her camouflaged holster, her tail going rigid in a low arch toward the ground. She saw Katy standing there with a rather shocked group of fresh recruits not that far behind her. One of the females, a younger than normal black cat of indescribable orientation had been the one to gasp, her hands covering her mouth and wide green eyes trained on the gun's glowing blue cartridge.

Katy moved in front of the girl and held her hands to the side to show she wasn't armed, "Catherine calm down. We come in peace.".

With a sigh, Catherine put the gun away and stood up before gesturing to Garret, "He fainted when I told him.", That got a nod from Katy as she lowered her arms and approached the unconscious tom. It wasn't the first time Garret had fainted, he just got harder to wake up each time.

After finding that Garret would be okay, Katy turned to Catherine, "He'll live. Going to need a shot of rum to shut him up about that big hickey(Bump on the head) though.".

As soon as they heard 'Hickey', recruits were gossiping their furry little butts off. The girls, all umpteen of them, had gathered in a small circle, whispering about steamy affairs in the office.

The boys were simply chatting amongst themselves, some casting not to curious looks at the two Russian Blues*, taking in the near identical physiques with their tails flicking in excitement.

Newbies. Sigh.

With out, looking back at the recruits Katy gave them a command, "Rookies, stand at attention!".

Their was a momentary clatter of clicking feet claws as the recruits and were standing shoulder to shoulder, the small gap between their groups closed as they stood awaiting orders. That was one way dogs and cats were alike: Training the newbies.

When dog operatives gave a rookie orders, they knew you'd execute them thoroughly, immediately, know what you're doing and how you're supposed to be doing it. But when cat operatives gave a rookie orders, they expected you to know how to do it, how to avoid a mishap/injury/death, when you're supposed to do it, why you're supposed to do it and in what... fashion(Meaning: Casually or Covert).

To say the least, both could be strict when and when not necessary.

Katy began to pace back in forth in front of them, arms crossed behind her back and tail curved low to the ground, "As a test of your pre-ranking training, you are to not divulge any information you have acquired here with in the past five minutes. Anyone incapable of keeping their lips sealed..." She trailed off as she turned to a young tom whose eyes had flickered to the general area of the base of her tail, "Will be dealt with in the harshest manner. Agent Katherine here, is my sister and a respected agent who has dedicated herself to this organization and the protection of humans, cats and dogs alike. If I so much as here a rumor mentioning her and pregnancy, I will put all of you through...", She stopped and turned to Catherine, "The Walking Death Routine.", At the mere mention, the rookies shot stiff as they felt a deathly chill run up their spines.

Many spoke of... The Walking Death Routine... But few actually experienced it, let alone witnessed it in action. It was said to be a training regime that could tenderized the worn out aching muscle off ones cracked and fractured bones while they dragged themselves through an obstacle course that made your hands bleed and your feet burn from the allegedly sandpaper rough flooring that could give way to spikes that cut through flesh like volcanic glass(obsidian) if you didn't react fast enough.

It was said only two had ever managed this death sentence miss labeled as an obstacle course. And one was standing in the very presence of the rookies. Catherine Taile, the first M.E.O.W.S. agent to form an alliance with the rivaling P.A.W.S. agents and successfully save the world.

The other was one Diggs Woff Howler.

I take it I missed the party.", Garret said as he stood up rubbing his head, "Man, Catherine you really know how to break news over a guys head. I'm going to need a drink after this.", He said, unaware that he was fueling the already overreacting minds of the rookies.

"Glad to see you're alive, Garret.", Catherine said as she grabbed him by his arm and began to drag him away, "We need to talk.", She said as she cast a glance to Katy and Garret, "Meet me at the usual place?".

Katy smiled to her older sister, "You bet, sis.", And as Catherine and a still dazed Garret disappeared she whirled on her recruits, seeing them snap back into place as they'd been secretly gossiping on the sly when Garret had interrupted, though their secret wasn't quite so when Katy had heard a good majority of it, "As for you. I believe I've made myself clear. One word spoken and I'll be on you like white on rice in a glass of milk on a paper plate held by an albino stuck out in a snow start. Do you comprehend?".

"Yes ma'am, Agent Taile!", They said in unison with voices raised.

"You don't need to shout.", She said as she made her way down the hall, her team following on cue. But she wasn't aware that they all had one of the juiciest, albeit false, pieces of information that would ever meet every corner of every M.E.O.W.S. complex worldwide.

Catherine "The Untouchable" Taile was pregnant and in a steamy office affair with the rumored Gay Garret. And Garret was an in the closet alcoholic!

This was some gossip worth sharing... But was it worth a Walking Death Routine run?

And how long had this affair been going on?

-Dog Head Quarters-

Diggs yawned as he watched the two newly issued teams of trainees walk in. He'd only been back for roughly two days, for a dog that was enough time to rest and recharge. He'd been informed that upon arrival he'd been picked to train a class of two teams. Lou and Butch had commented that they seemed like the perfect kind of team for him(Diggs): They were young, excitable, rowdy, loud, impossibly hard headed, couldn't walk a straight line to save their lives, and needed a good shot to the ego to calm them down.

How they were a perfect fit for him, he had no idea. He felt like he should be insulted on some level but he was too tired to care.

The teams themselves didn't really fit the perfect agent category either. One team consisting of adolescent pups who had great potential and the other a team of fresh picked rookies with more experience but no class(Rank/level/authority). He was, by default, the oldest one in the training room. Shame, he was only twenty five, too.

Clapping his hand he saw them all jump, having apparently been looking around for their instructor... which happened to be him.

"Okay everyone, today we'll be-", He stopped as he saw a female black German Shepard in the back of the rookie team raise her hand, "Yes, you in the back? Any questions?", He said as he pointed at her with both pointer fingers as he kept his hands together.

Lowering her arm the female, looked a bit sheepish before she met his gaze, "Um... Who are you, exactly?", She didn't come off as rude but more curious.

"Well-", Diggs was about to reply only for another female Shepard to step up from the crowd.

"Yeah! I was told we were getting a big shot agent in here!", Said another German Shepard, only she was a bit lighter where Diggs was brown, "But they just tossed in some high school jock to train us? What do they take us as, pups?", She demanded as she crossed her arms, the fabric of her blue shirt stretching across her chest and showing off the shape of her rather large breasts.

Diggs felt the thick fur of his neck scruff spike up slightly at the challenge, in born Shepard instincts telling him to fight her for respect but being an agent as well as a former K-9 Officer, he could keep his cool under such circumstances. That didn't mean he wouldn't put her in her place in doing so.

"It's interesting that you say that, miss...?", He gestured to her with his larger hands.

"Barks. Rebecca Barks.", She said with a pinch of nervousness creeping into her voice. Something about the way his canines were becoming visible at the tips was warning her to pull back on or risk getting -possibly- killed.

"It's rather funny you mention me being a "High school jock", seeing as how this jock happened to have saved the world from Kitty Galore with the combined forces of Catherine Taile, Seamus P. Gen, and his senior and recruiter Butch T. Gowors.", He said in a flat tone, pressing a button on his collar and a hologram of him(Diggs Woff Howler), Catherine, Seamus and Butch appeared, lined up with the name "Gamma Team 25" under them.

Everyone in the room went rigid as all side line conversations died out fast.

The two teams gaped before they all quickly fell in line, standing shoulder to shoulder as they stood at the center of the large round room.

Even the formerly rebellious Rebecca Barks was silenced as she stood in line, inwardly kicking her self for not holding her tongue. This dog had saved the world in the time it took her to learn how to properly fire a plasma wave .66 pistol. If that didn't say something about his skills in the field, she didn't want to know what did...

"Okay, now that we've got formalities outta the way, I will be teaching this class.", He said, really wishing he didn't need to be professional in this part of work. At least they'd allowed him to teach in his way, that way there were more likely better agents being put into the field if they were trained in more than one way, "The first lesson, finding a traitor amongst your teams. Note that not everything is as it seems. There can be a traitor right in front of you, and you'd never know. Before you were all gathered here, one of many in here was given a red band to where that has a bull's eye on it. You're first lesson will be to single out and shoot the person, none fatally might I add, with these.", He moved to the side to show a blank white wall.

Most, just about all, of the students stared at him like he'd lost his mind. With a smirk, Diggs kicked a small section of the wall where a four by four in square section collapsed into the wall with a hiss. Then the area of wall he'd gestured to collapsed into the wall as well, sliding to the side to reveal a mass arsenal of training weapons-that could not be adjusted to anything but their current setting with out the right pass-codes, just in case somebody tried to pull a prank-.

The lined up trainees rushed for the weapons, only for Diggs to step between them. They stopped and dropped their reaching hands, fearful of losing digits should they continue.

"You will receive your weapons in alphabetical order of last names.", He said as he pulled a clip board from the space next to the weapons, all being paintball guns designed to resemble .66 plasma pistols. The secret agent weapon of choice, next to the stealth blade of course.

As he began to call out names, the students called would step forward and retrieve their weapons before they were back in line.

Then he got to the first female to call him out, Ebony was her name. She was in the Rookie team with Rebecca Barks, in fact they were standing just separate of each other by two other recruits, a male Great Dane named Marmaduke and another who was a whitish female Chihuahua named Cloe.

As he handed her the weapon, his hand brushed hers. He barely noticed but she, being at some level intimidated by him, inwardly shuddered as his larger hand nearly held hers.

No! She had to stay focused!

Besides he probably had a bunch of females raising their tails at him, flooding his phone lines, and blowing up his voice message system. He didn't need a recruit trailing him like a lost pup... Still he was rather attractive.

He then proceeded to finish handing out the weapons and then placed the chart back into the hidden compartment before kicking the little square again, causing the wall to slide back into place.

"And you're lesson begins... NOW!", And with that he jumped onto the elevated platform above him to get clear of the soon to come chaos.

Pretty soon there was a ruckus of shouting and paintball guns firing. Apparently not long after the lesson had begun, a young Border Collie named Max accidentally shot a female Doberman in the butt. That had caused her to whirl around and shoot a white American Shepard named Bolt, who she thought had shot her first, in the neck. He'd been conversing with a male Poodle who then had come to his rescue, firing at the Doberman and her friends while bolt was being looked at by a black hound oriented dog named Max Goof and his female companion(Girlfriend) Roxane. A few misses later the whole class minus Diggs was in an uproar as shots rang out and the sound of paint splattering against flesh, fur, and clothing filled the air.

"This is going to take a while.", He sighed as he leaned back against a wall, 'I wonder how Catherine's doing right now.', He thought for possibly the umpteenth time that day.

It wouldn't be the last time that day, that was for sure.

-Chapter End-

AN: Damn, it's been a while since I last touched this story. It's still got that original, incomplete, attention grabber smell... Oh, wait that's every story I've written...

Oh well, I hope you all missed me! 'Cause I'm not certain when I can make the next chapter. But being so damned stubborn as I am, I refuse to give up on my work. Just like my drawings.

And: As of 9-21-13, we have a new puppy! She belongs to my younger brother and her name's Darla. Don't know if he got that from little Rascals or what but she loves to cuddle up right under ya's! Wish I knew what the hell she is though...*Looks at word count* That won't do at all!

Nevermind!
