a picture's worth a thousand words

Once upon a time, there was a prince and a princess.

Now, you might say that's how all fairytales start. But this one was slightly different. In this story, the prince was arrogant and cruel. He ruled his kingdom through fear, enslaved others with money, and was generally an assh – bad person.

("He doesn't sound very nice, Papa."

Grins. "That's because he wasn't.")

But, one day, when he was nearly of age, a princess from a faraway nation came to his land. She was beautiful, sweet and kind. As a result, she hated the prince, and the way he bullied his subjects. She began to stand up for them, to fight against the tyranny of the prince.

("She even spat lemonade in my – his face.")

They called her many things. Revolutionary, rebel, insurgent. The people who the prince had oppressed for so long, began to revolt under the guidance of this fiery, hot-tempered princess.

("Was she a nice princess?"

Smirks. "Of course she was, sweetheart. The nicest of them all.")

The prince and the princess found themselves in arguments all day long. They bickered about the color of the sky, the duties of the people, even their taste in music. Slowly, as time went on, the prince began noticing certain things; like the way her hair turned golden in sunlight, or how her eyes lit up when she was talking about the things that inspired her. He began falling in love.

("Papa, how long is Momma going to take?")

He told the princess this, and she tearfully accepted his love. As months passed into years, the couple lived happily; the princess had even given birth to a little angel of a daughter. But, of course, the only thing that was left –

("Shush, Papa, Momma's coming!)

- Was for them to get married, and live happily ever after.
