This story is part three of an ongoing tale. Part one being "A Husbands Promise" and two being "Her Soldier". It is best to start at the beginning of any story...non? So hopefully you have read parts one and two. We pick up our story with the squad marching out to fight the war that is raging all about the tiny field hospital where Caje, who is still recovering, must stay.

I wrote part 1 of this story last year on Pierre Jalbert's 89th birthday. Unfortunately, on that day Pierre suffered a heart attack, two weeks later, he left us. This year for his birthday I added to that story. When someone leaves suddenly, it's hard to accept. For those having trouble "accepting" I hope this story helps. This story explains why Caje wears a wedding ring and also a pinky ring. The pinky ring belonged to his wife, who died giving birth to their daughter. The baby die's 1 week later. Long enough for Caje to have bonded with his daughter. This also helps explain Caje's deep attachment to the orphaned children of France. His wife's name was Mireille-pronounced-Meer-ray.(1st story Ever!)
