About me:

I don't believe in pseudonyms or screen names so... yeah. My name is Hugo Firth, and I'm a student studying Computer Science at university in the United Kingdom. I read - A LOT - and if my Kindle doesn't kill me (financially speaking) then I suspect that the many, many hours spent reading on fanfiction.net when I should be building websites (a.k.a doing my job) will finish the job. That said, despite reading so much on this site over the years, I shamefully admit that it has taken me this long to take the plunge and get involved in actually writing, reviewing or otherwise contributing anything.

Part of the reason was because I was lazy I'll admit. However, another part was that I was intimidated. Some of you write full-sized books on this site, others create things so imaginative that even for the 3rd time reading it reveals new details and points of interest. Its amazing, and I can only hope that I'll be able to do the same!

General notes:

- Please do get in touch with me any way you like. I'm always up for some constructive criticism, general conversation, collaboration - you name it!

- I rent a server thats mostly empty, and I used to run a free webhost. If any of you want hosting for your fanfiction or related websites PLEASE drop me a line! I'd much rather the space was used for something creative instead of just sitting in a datacenter doing nothing. If enough people are interested I might even start a small community for it. Domain name giveaways etc ...

- I will try to update at least once a week, but sometimes that won't happen. Feel free to ask when I plan to update, as that may well remind me to do so when I am busy enough to forget.

- Throughout my writing I will attempt to maintain the following common theme as far as syntax is concerned:

Italicised sentences without speechmarks indicate some kind of mental communication which isn't merely one-sided thoughts.

"Italicised sentences with speechmarks indicate one sided thoughts of the character from whose point of view I am currently writing."

Italicised words amongst normal sentences are employed as a means of adding emphasis to said words.

Bold words are used as sub headings

"Bold words in speech marks are used (in fictions which require as much) to denote incantations, power names etc..." (Yes, the vast majority of my writing will be fantasy/science fiction in one form or another.)

Things I love:

- All things Japanese. Whether that be the cities, language, food or Manga. No I am not japanese.

- Manga. I know i said it above, but I really love a good series.

- Fiction. I have never been much of a non-fiction fan really, I guess thats the escapist in me.

- . Seriously, I couldn't live without it. You must all sign up IMMEDIATELY!

- A very ecclectic and wide ranging collection of music. From Bob Dylan to Linkin Park - I am always listening to something.

Goals:

- To learn to speak japanese. There is a module at my university which I can sit. Japanese would be very useful alongside a computer science degree.

- To write a book. I don't specify when in my life I am going to manage this, but I'll get there. Whether anyone will read or publish it is another thing entirely, and quite frankly a secondary concern. Maybe I'll self publish, I'm all for a good ego trip haha.
