My name is Sarafina and I, like everyone else on this site, have been in love with writing my entire life. I grew up with a pencil in my hand, forming stories before I could even spell. I amused my parents by stapling pieces of paper together to mimic a book's binding and write stories. As I grew older my fascination with the written word turned into something I could spend hours toiling away at; scribbling down characters and their names, thinking about plots and villainsI was the kid that sat on the outskirts of the playground, digging into the mulch and watching the world I'd imagined in my head bloom into a reality that only I could see. As a young adult I realized that the world didn't see things the way I did, and I found out there was a name for people like me: storyteller.

I took that word and ran with it. When I was old enough my parents awarded me with a computer on which I could take the stories in my head and on paper and put them in a safe place. They'd find me typing away far too late into the night, fingers flying across the keyboard like my life depended on it. I was immersed in words that I had created, characters that whispered in my ear, and entire worlds I had dreamed up.

It wasn't until a few years later that I stumbled upon this site. I discovered that I could take the words I'd created and put them in a place that everyone could see. The characters and stories that inspired me could be borrowed, changed, and placed on a new path. I realized that the best part of all was that I was surrounded by all kinds of storytellers that were in love with writing just as much as me. I was no longer the kid on the edge of the playground; I was in the middle of people that were just like me.

I've been a part of this sit ever since, and it's been a surprisingly big part of my life. I know that the stereotype is that the only kinds of people that write fanfiction are losers, but never has a stereotype been so wrong. We're just an enormous crowd that are brave enough to shed the troubles of everyday life for a little while and write about the characters we love most. There is a truly amazing collection of writers on this site, and every day I meet more people that are just as crazy about writing as I am.
