This started as a 30-day challenge to post something 1000 words or less every day from a one-word prompt. I extended the challenge to 40 days, and now that I'm in school I find this too much fun to stop completely, and so I will be trying to update every weekend or every other weekend at the very least. Most of them are Legolas - Thranduil centered!

A bored young Thranduil and his best friend appear at Galions house in the middle of the night to convince him to come on an adventure with them. Oddly its turns out... almost exactly as predicted.

In Valinor Legolas returns home to some good news from his wife.

Everybody has their own response to stress and trauma: Some set themselves on fire and others turn to the darkness.

Legolas' patrol goes to investigate some terror lurking in the forest fully-heartedly expecting the worst. It's worse than even they imagined.

Elves were not made to endure the horrors of war, their souls are too soft and their hearts too easily broken. Even so, some are more bothered by it than others. Following the end of the Ring War, it comes to the attention of his friends that perhaps Legolas is more troubled than he lets on. They rush him home, and hope he can be saved before his only option is to sail west.

Wheb the 2 trees died in Valinor the Valar took the last remaining lights and used them to create the sun and the moon to spread light across their land of Aman and beyond. But the elves in Middle Earth have only ever seen eternal night. Thranduil is out of the city when the sun starts to rise for the very first time, and Oropher races to reach him before the fire in the sky does.

A story of the winding path that Galion and Thranduil have walked together through the ages. A story of love and loyalty.

When Eru made elves he made them with astoundingly strong emotions. Emotions so strong, in fact, that they can die from a broken heart. Or a hopeless one. Waiting for the one you love to return from the black gates is about as hopeless as it gets. It's a good thing Mandos is an old softy on the inside, especially for tragic love stories. (Beren and Luthien, anyone?

After the War of the Ring is won and the ring melted to nothing, Legolas gets pulled towards the dead marshes by an impossibly familiar force.

An attempt to tell a story from a relatively outside perspective witnessing the events of the hobbit and Tauriels actions throughout and several centuries before. While also seeing snippets of the world through Tauriels eyes through the same time.

Oropher offers his son a compromise, perhaps the first of his entire life, in an effort to keep Thranduil safe and stop him from letting his curiosity be the end of him.

After the destruction of Dol Guldur, Celeborn finds Thranduil standing alone amongst the ruins, as heavy as the stone around him with the price of being the one to survive it all.

Some lifelong friendships are built on wholesome foundations of love, trust, and mutual respect. Some are built upon getting arrested for theft, and then immediately helping to arrange an illegal and rigged betting pool. Thranduil, unsurprisingly, chooses the latter of the two options for his friend finding.

Nàmo once again allows Yavanna to help him escort the souls of lost elves to his Halls of Mandos. But this time, she's stalling.

"It was difficult to enjoy these beautiful lands when you were waiting anxiously for a dear one to come enjoy them with you. " Celebrian attempt to comfort and reassure Legolas that he will see his father again soon, and that he will not fade instead of sailing west.

Elrond has a favor to ask Thranduil. Carefully, he writes out his request on a piece of paper that suddenly seems to thin for a task so important and sends the letter along with his hope. Thranduil replies.

"Almost as if they were offended by the noise, the wargs howled even louder. Not ones to be outdone, so did the elves." Legolas and his patrol are just trying to have some fun at their campsite, the Wargs don't think they should.

While visiting Rivendell, Thranduil comes across a very young Aragorn sitting in a garden alone. In a bush. Thoroughly miserable.

While Legolas is on patrol there's an accident where his eyes are badly injured, and for a time nobody has any idea of the greatest archer in middle earth will ever be able to look to the stars again.

After being chased by a pack of Orcs, a group of Rangers decides the best (and only) course of action is to run headlong into Mirkwood with only Aragorn's word that the elves won't let them die in there. Somehow, Aragorn is both correct and incorrect about his promise at the same times.

They had accepted their luck had run out, they had accepted they would die. It seemed unlikely anything would happen to cause otherwise. But that didn't matter much to them; all that mattered was that they did it together.

What does Thranduil do when Legolas has nightmares?

For once, it's Galion that gets himself injured. For once, its Galion that gets fussed and worried over.

"He wasn't sure if Eru had created Chaos or if it had created itself, but regardless, he was certain that it had descended to the ground to walk among them the exact same moment the dragon's screech had split the air. " A look at how Thranduil got his burns shown in Desolation of Smaug.

Thranduil struggles to come to terms with all the Silvan elves that are lost against the darkness. He struggles with how to make sure they matter, how they will always matter. How everything they did helped to drag him day by day closer to the end. Dates, names, sacrifice's made, and thing loved most about them. This is how they're remembered.

"Gimli hadn't actually been sure if Legolas had ever, or could ever be in a bad mood. Since departing Rivendell he had witnessed the elf's smile and bright nature survive thunderstorms, hunger, heartache, and once even a deep slashing gouge across his stomach. But for some reason, this minor head wound and a shoulder injury had gotten the best of him? It didn't make sense."

Legolas returns to Greenwood briefly after the War of the Ring to his home before returning to Gondor for Arwen and Aragorn's wedding. With the world now at peace, he finally gets the courage to act on his long-held feelings for a friend. Unfortunately for everybody involved, just as things are going perfectly an elf driven to madness by darkness and grief threatens everything.

Gimli isn't the only 'unlikely' friendship Legolas made during the War of the Ring.

Elladan challenges Legolas to preform in the Hall of Fire, and the woodland prince has never been one for backing down from challenges. (Lightly edited)

When Thranduil arrives a day early, Elrond is convinced he's going to have to awkwardly flounder through conversation until Celebrian and the twins return. Thankfully, at least, the unexpected presence of Legolas brings out a softer side in his father

Oropher and Legolas meet for the first time in Valinor; and it doesn't go very well at first.

Legolas finally gets to see the one he loves, if only he weren't a prince with things to do. At least, he would have things to do if his father wasn't just a little bit sneaky

When the world gives you relentless rain, you find the deepest puddle you can find, and jump in it. Young-Legolas

One after one, everybody he cares about is ripped away. With seemingly only one left, Elrond makes a desperate plea.

Seeking shelter from a storm, the fellowship takes advantage of a nearby heated spring - and are stunned to find to find that their elven companion is not as 'perfect' as they all thought and expect him to be. Early Fellowship.

Legolas never wanted to be king, but after Thranduil is badly injured in the Battle of the Five Armies he might not have a choice.

Time passes much more quickly for Elves than for mortals, and sensing that his dear friend's life is approaching its end Legolas is reluctant to part from him. Even to attend a festival and see Gandalf's fireworks. (Chapter Three has been edited and fixed from the first posting because it cut off the last 8 or so lines. I don't know why.)

Elladan, Elrohir, Legolas, and Aragorn are in the mountains during a terrible cold autumn storm and the sons of Elrond reluctantly stay with some of the Avari

Yavanna, creator and protector of all things that grow spends some time in Greenwood during its fall, and has a message for its King.

A letter given from the last Elven King west of the sea to a dwarf on the day of the dwarfs departure across the sea.

"I knew how much Legolas always hated when his father had to leave, especially when he saw others preparing armor and weapons. "

On his first trip to Rivendell Legolas slips out of the twins care and makes a new friend, who almost has a somewhat unfortunate end but is saved by a 'daring' rescue mission.

Gandalf tries to defend himself against the soiling of the Baggins name, Legolas is having none of it.

After Legolas is poisoned by a spider and washed downstream Thranduil rushes to try and find him before its too late. Thankfully, the prince gets some help by something that might or might not be a fever dream.

Elrond, Elladan, and Elrohir say goodbye at the Grey Havens, not knowing if they will follow in their sister footsteps to a mortal life.

Falling in love during a war is hard - told through a series of incredibly brief moments in time.

Gandalf is brought to the ElvenKings tent after the battle of the five armies, but doesn't find at all what he was expecting to.

Galion had warned them that there was no point in sending him to bed, for there are very few elves who are as good at looking after the royal family as he is. Galion was right, there was no point.

"Woodevles, for all of their charms, are not exactly known for arriving in the Valley in the best of moods. Greenwood is a busy kingdom, most are already exhausted and cranky before they even begin the journey here." It was several days after his arrival in Rivendell before Legolas met the hobbits, sometimes you need a bit of TLC from your friends before making new ones. (Edited)

Going from Dunedin Cheifton to King of Gondor is no small step, especially when you're afraid you're going to have to learn, decide, solve, and do everything on your own.

Losing any friend, four-legged and furry or otherwise, is always hard. Even for an elflings who rescues rats from kitchens.

"He knew that the elf would be irritating, taking him so close to a large group of Ents and forbidding him from talking with any of them. He just didn't think he would be this irritating. " Sometimes, even ageless Wizards get frustrated with the energy of young elves.

Thranduil hasn't had a chance to spend any time with his son the past few weeks, but Legolas, missing his father too, takes matters into his own hands.

After the battle of the five armies Legolas and some of his wounded warriors are taken to Imladris to heal, where the prince attempts to come to terms with everything that happened, and why. Legolas - Estel friendship. (Teen for mentions of blood, wounds and death)

Gimli gets the flu while he and Legolas are traveling throughout Middle Earth together. Naturally, he tries to pretend he isn't sick until he physically no longer can. Gimli POV

"Legolas believed everything was a friend until it proved otherwise, while Thranduil was more inclined to think everyone an enemy until proven friend." Given his son's track record, perhaps Thranduil should not be surprised by his son's news following the War of the Ring.

Bilbo has many suspicions of what is to come, and who will be involved. He lets Frodo solve his own riddles about those around him; particularly a certain man and elf.

"Legolas you are not going, and that is final!" Deciding whether or not to allow Legolas on the quest was a bit more complicated than the hobbits saw at the council.

"Your voice is broken and cracked, tears streaming relentlessly down your face. "Ada help me" " There is an accident while Legolas is on patrol (No character death)

"However, just because one had learned not to underestimate Legolas did not mean that he stopped being surprised." Aragorn see's the city built in Ilthilien for the first time.

Legolas returns to Greenwood one last time to tell his father that Aragorn has passed and he is sailing to Valinor.

"The Elf hummed, and the world hummed back" Sam wanders away from camp to mourn his home and leaving the plants he has looked after for so long. He is surprised to find that Legolas knows exactly how he feels when no one else ever has. Legolas - Sam freindship fic.

"Estel gave a small twitch in his sleep and Elrond smiled, "Fear not, we will never lose hope." Elrond suspicions of the darkness in Mirkwood are finally confirmed when Legolas and friends visit for the first time in many years.

"He had not kissed her at the yule celebration. That was the real world, and such things could only cause him pain in the real world. But this was not the real world." Legolas disobeys his father and goes to Dul Guldur to learn of what darkness has come to reside there. Finally and regretfully, the woodland realm comes to understand how much trouble they are in.

Legolas doesn't know the first thing about human children, especially crying human children, but he trys his best nonetheless. Young Estel and Legolas take their first steps into what will end up being one of the closest friendships of their lives.

Thranduil smiled sadly at his son and shook his head softly, "No, my son. Such things bring only pain and will wilt even the brightest of greenleaves." A brief look at a sick king trying to save his home, and a desperate son trying to save his father.

As Legolas stands before the gates of Mordor, he wonders about how his father felt before the battle of the last alliance.

One shots of Legolas and his friend Ava growing up in Mirkwood as the title suggests. These two are also in my story "Returning Home" if you want to go read that. Letters are hard to write, but amazing to receive. Legolas struggles to inform someone back home that he will not be returning from the Council of Elrond.

"A king would continue to love his people, and his people would continue to love their king." Galion ponders the difference between the ElvenKing, and his King.

He could not recall what route they had taken home, nor how long it took them to get here. He sat numbly on his horse, staring forward. Wallowing in the cloud of silence and grief that had descended on his patrol. Just doing his best to remember how to breath. ( No character death, very slight romance)

Something changed them within the forests of Lorein. An elf and a dwarf entered the woods loathing one another, and came out of them unlikely allies. A look at the conversation that would help shape history.

"They are wild e fury of winter and the kindness of summer shimmer within their feral eyes. They are grace itself, dancing and walking beneath theses tree's like it was there born right to do so." Gimli considers and appraises the elven companions with whom he walks through Greenwood with.

The Orcs are attacking Mirkwood like never before, with resources and reinforcements wearing thin Thranduil is forced form his halls and out onto the battlefield with his son. But after receiving an unpleasant head wont curtsey of an Orc Hammer, he begins reliving the pleasanter times spent under the tree's of the glade that is now their battleground.

After settling into a comfortable Inn for the night following the disappearance of the Orc pack they were hunting, tired and missing home Aragorn becomes interested in a farmers tale claiming to have spotted and Elf on his land. Much to Halbarad's displeasure of being drawn from his nice warm bed and even nicer barmaid.

Elves aren't meant to be away from nature, or deep in the tunnels of Moria. Its no wonder Legolas gets a little home sick.

The forest was silent and empty. Void of all creatures except for the wildlife and two lone elves making their way beneath the complicated labyrinth of tree's and roots. Just how they liked it.

Following an argument with her husband, Celebian and her two sons decide to spend the summer living in Greenwood.

While riding to Helms Deep, Eowyn questions Legolas on somebody he left behind in his woodland home. One-shot

With a brief pause from the constant assaults on their Kingdom, the elves of Mirkwood find time for a birthday celebration, and Legolas finds time to ponder his feelings for a certain Elleth, who might or might not have had to much to drink One-shot. Rated teen simply because there is drinking involved, and im over paranoid.
