Author has written 1 story for Protector of the Small Quartet. 1/2/12 - So I am finally working on chapter 10. I apologize sincerely for the long wait, but the chapter should be posted in the next few days. So please be patient and don't give up on the story...even if it does take 5 months to be updated! 11/6/11 - Hey! I apologize for the long-time disappearance. School has taken over my life as it does every pre-med student's. This is simply to say that I have not given up on the story Fighting for Approval. It's still a work in progress! So don't give up on me. I am recieving your feedback, both negative and positive. And i appreciate both! However, it's currently NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) and I'm trying to beat last years word count of about 6000 (not that great of an acheivment...but still! One step at a time!). So, I'm going to ask you to give me until winter break to post another chapter. Just remember, this is my first story EVER that seems to making it's way anywhere close to being finished. Of course, even that may be a bit far off still...I really don't know. But please be patient! And feedback is always welcome. Love you all and always feel free to start up random conversation with me! I love making new random friends and find myself doing so often lately! =D 3/20/11 - Another chapter up because I wasn't proud of ch6. It's short, but it puts a twist on the story. I might add to it, so make sure to reread ch7 again before I post ch8...whenever that may be. =D 3/18/11 - I apologize for such a late update. But, it's up there now. I'm not too proud of it, but it's going to stay that way because the plot is moving in the general direction I want it to. I'll probably edit after the entire story is finished. I've also grammatically edited all the previous chapters. The reason this update took so long to come out was that I was absolutely lost. So, I just let myself write a chapter that I've been wanting to write since the beginning. That chapter won't be seen for another while, but it helped me lay down the road for the overall story. I also went back and reread the entire story to make sure I wasn't changing anything around. So, I hope you like it! =D And I would love for some feedback. It truly does help! About me: Hi! I'm live-read-imagine. I've read stories on FF for 5 years and decided that it was time for me to publish my own stories. I'm currently working on a novel of my own, but I have to improve my writing skills before I can actually create something outstanding. The only FF stories I will write are for the Protector of the Small Quartet, Host by Stephanie Meyer, and maybe Twilight. Those are also the only categories I like reading. Personally, I think Twilight could have been much better. God knows I've read FF stories much better than the original series. My favorite book is The Host by Stephanie Meyer. I love the plot and the idea. But I think her writing style can use some work. I hope SM doesn't make a sequel and doesn't turn it into a movie. My favorite Series is the Protector of the Small Quartet by Tamora Pierce. I love Tamora Pierce's books. I've only read the Trickster Series, Beka Cooper Series and the Quartet, but I absolutely love her work. My favorite author is Tamora Pierce. Very good books to read: Hush: An Irish Princess Tale by Donna Jo Napoli or any other works of hers. Graceling by Kristin Cashore (as well as Fire) The Howling Heart by (I don't know) Very good stories to read: (not based on books...aka original stories) Stories by Maranwe Telrunya on (escpecially My Beloved) Just a note to other writers: I hate when someone has a good story idea (great even!) but lacks the proper grammar when writing out the chapters. It makes me hate the story and I stop reading it. So, use a beta, and try to improve your grammar. It'll help you out now and in the future. Because truly, it gets frustrating to try to make out words or get a sentence's meaning. So I just give up. And even though this is FanFiction, I think it's just a rule of respect towards readers. You're writing for the readers (that's why you posted your stories) so make the readers want to read your work. Review Policy: I try my best to review to every story I read, but I sometimes forget. Also, I read tons and tons of stories, so it would be very time consuming. Usually, if the story's done, I'll comment after I've read the entire thing. Otherwise, the story will get one comment that's telling the author a few ways to improve the story (I then move on because it hasn't captured my attention). Or, I'll follow the story and beg the author for an update. ;P I will be truthful because lying never does any good. And I'm trying to help you. My stories: I solemnly swear to try to update regularly. However, when school begins, updating will be the last thing on my mind. So... please be patient and a new chapter will be put up soon. 1) Fighting for Approval Summary: Keladry tries out for knight training and completes her probationary year as in the original story. However, as a conservative, Lord Wyldon does not approve of Lady Knights and sends her home. Piers and Ilane are busy with the political negotiations between Tortall and the Yamani Islands. So, they plan to send Kel to the convent. She however, convinces them to allow her to become a nurse and aid gifted healers. She does this because she's too old to train as a shang. The compromise with her parents mandated that she attend lessons at the convent in the City of Gods. Inspiring Quotes: 1. "Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgment that something else is more important than fear." - Ambrose Redmoon 2. "Opportunities to find deeper powers within ourselves often come when life seems most challenging." - Joseph Campbell 3. ..." You're the one who says book have to be heavy because the whole world's inside them" 4. "As Mo had said: writing stories is a kind of magic, too." 5. "'Stories never really end, Meggie,' he had once told her, 'even if the books like to pretend they do. Stories always go on. They don't end on the last page, any more than they begin on the first page.'" 6. "Isn't it odd how much fatter a book gets when you've read it several times? As if something were left between the pages every time you have read it. Feelings, thoughts, sounds, smells...and then, when you look at the book again many years later, you find yourself there, too, a slightly younger self, slightly different, as if the book had preserved you like a pressed flower...both strange and familiar." |
