![]() Author has written 2 stories for Pride and Prejudice. About Me Ok the first thing you should know about me is that I am DYSLEXIC. That does not mean I am stupid, or that English is my second language, or that I do not put a lot of effect into my writing. It means that I cannot spell or read in the same way that you do, it means part of my brain works differently. Which works better for some things, like logic and worse for other like correct spelling. But what that means is I have had to fight every day of my life to be able to read and write, the more stressed I am the worse my reading and writing become. My reading is better than my spelling when I was last tested by spelling age was that of a 7-year-old and my reading age was that of a 10-year-old. Not that it actually is, I have found ways to get around that, namely by learning words and Google, what would I do without Google? But trust me on this, it bugs me a lot more than it bugs you. Please do not tell me that this means I am lazy or sloppy with my writing, this will just make me angry. Would you tell someone who has lost their legs that they should just get up and walk? Every dyslexic person is different, we all cope differently, you can't take something that works for one person that says it will work for another. Just because you can see the errors doesn't mean that I can. If the letters are similar in the words it looks right to me. The same is true for grammar, I know the difference and if you actually spoke to me then you would hear that I don't make grammatical errors, just in my writing I do. Normally because I have had to rephrase something because I have no idea how to spell the word I am looking for. To give you an example of what happens when I am stress, I struggle to spell my own name. I know how to spell it, but that part of my brain just get confused. I grow up on a diet of Jane Austen, Leo Tolstoy, JRR Tolkien, Charlotte Bronte, Dickens, Daphne du Maurier and many others, the only difference is I listened to these great authors rather than reading them. Which also introduced me to a world of voice actors. I have always loved the written word, no matter how cruel fate has been, and I have always wanted to write, to add my voice to those who so coloured my life as a child, and who still continue to do so. My surname is Tolson, and I have always dreamed that I would write and publish something that would stand next to the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings on a book-shelve in a library. But well I am very happy to be writing LARPs and fanfic, but a girl can dream. Maybe one day... So some other things about me - I am female, 33, married and living in Cape Town, South Africa. I have lived out here most of my life, my family is English. I mostly write LARPs for those of you who don't know what those are, Google it. I have three cats (Pepper, Jade and Cinnamon), and three dogs (Snowy, Bandit and Mason), I am a role-player, I make costumes (sewing that is), I enjoying reading, watching good movies and shows and listening to music (mostly rock), I started doing yoga a few years ago and have been crocheting up a storm. I have an odd sense of humour, as you might have noticed by now. I am almost finished my first story, I know there are a couple out there like this, but I don't feel that any of them really do the "Mr Collins and Elizabeth" getting engaged right, so I'm having a shot at it. (Although I have noticed since starting this Fic, other stories have started showing up, always fun to be a tend starter) Story Ideas I have had a few other ideas, for other PP stories, including: 1. A classic, that sadly I have never seen done well, the Anne Darcy marry, Anne dies in childbirth one. 2. We know that Darcy's father died 5 years ago, and that his father had to manage alone since Darcy was quite young. But there is no mentioning of Anne Darcy actually dying, so what if she ran off and the Darcys' are hiding the truth. Can you imagine Lady Catherine? It would be too much fun. 3. What if Darcy and Elizabeth meet later on, at Rosings, not sure how interesting this would actually be. Might be if combined with one of the ones above. maybe all 3 together? There is quite a lot of fun there in these stories, so I might play around with them. Let me know what you think and I'll consider it after Mr Collins' Bride is done. What I am up to 23/02/2016 - So a couple of people have asked about the renumbering of the chapters and re-posting of the all of the chapter of Mr Collins' Bride. I have done a little bit of editing, fixing spelling mistakes etc (google docs spell checker is so much better than either word or 's). The editing including putting the two Chapters that were Mr Darcy's reaction into one, and changing a very few minor things here and there. Such as Jane realizing that her plan to get engaged to Mr Bingley to her before Elizabeth and Mr Collins' engagement was public knowledge would not work as their engagement became public knowledge too quickly. Also, I changed the order of a couple of chapters, the section the wedding scene and Mr Bennet's death. Basically as far as I am concerned this is a WIP which means I will make small changes to it here and there. I have just had more time in the last week or so than I normally do hence two chapters fairly quickly by my standards. I hope the changes make sense to you. And I apologize if they don't. 12/10/2016 - Don't kill me, but I have been struggle with this next chapter, so I have started another one. Hopefully it will help things move along. I have been a little stuck on carriages of all things, who would riding with whom etc. But I think I have got a handle on it. 13/10/2016 - See see, I am still writing Mr Collins' Bride, I am just not writing a larp at the same time, which does feel strange so that extra plotting is going into Six Inches Deep in Mud. Oh, and in other news, I have a new puppy Bandit who likes biting my hand and peeing all over my floor. 08/06/2018 - Hi everyone, sorry for the radio silence for gosh for over a year. I changed jobs at the end of 2016 and the new job has been completely insane, and not at all what I thought it would be or what I want to be doing. So things have got quite nasty. But hopefully should be resolved soon and I will have more head space to be creative and write! 02/06/2019 - i have not been eaten by weasels nor fallen off the face of the earth. Things with the job got worse and there are lawyers and court cases involved now. I'm not working there any more nor is a friend from the same team who so has started her a case. i can't talk about it while its ongoing but hopefully at some-point i can. Also i broke my ankle, but its better now. Long story short I'm back and ready to write again! look out for an update near you soon! |
