The penname/alias pretty much says it all. I'm a neuropsychopharmacologist, which is a terribly long-winded way of saying I like to come home after a day of dealing with people in really sad circumstances and curl up with my kids, my wife (or partner, depending on which state we're in (http://www.fanfiction.ws/u/612853/Writers_Slush)) who has been my dearest friend since I was 10 years old, and some anime...usually anime with a distinctly shoujo, if not blatantly yuri, flavor. The world needs more girl love! ;-)

Anyone who was a fan of the animated Teen Titans back in the day, or more recently Avatar: The Last Airbender, might know me better as Unbridled Joy of Flight from or . I've been an animation fan for a (very) long time, but tend to be mercurial about where I direct my very limited fan time.

6/12/2015 update:

Life has been a challenge for a few years, but i remain dedicated to continuing my stories. Time remains my issue, not inspiration. the characters are speaking to me, i just don;t have the time to write it all down. I'll eventually find that time, I promise!

I remain in love with The Puella Magi Chronicles. I have provided some teasers below in a new "My Stories" section of my profile. Keep looking occasionally as I may add more as my ideas become more firm. This story will absolutely continue for a very long time. I'm already outlining what will happen AFTER Homura's issues are resolved. I've been alluding to the "seed worlds" for a while. There's a lot happening beyond the solar heliosphere...

Precious Treasure, my Angel Beats story, has also been getting some love from my muse of late. Girl's Night Out should be a whole lot of fun. :-)

Voices is on hiatus for the moment. I fully plan to return to it over time, but right now my energies are focused on Puella Magi. I have one more chapter in reserve that I will be posting later this month. For fans of Voices, be aware one of my characters has found herself in Precious Treasure, the Angel Beats afterlife high school. If you've been wondering where Kaori's confidence in the Ghost or Dream arc came from, you'll find out if you read Girl's Night Out.

Like with Voices, my Maria Sama stories are also on hiatus as I move along Puella Magi. Again, I will come back to lovely Alice and her oneesama, Rosa Kanina. I love them too much to forget about them. It just will be a little while.

The Puella Magi Chronicles (Puella Magi Madoka Magica and Oriko Magica)

This is my flagship series now, and the one I will remain focused on even as my life enters a period of intense change. Although Mother's Journey remains the core story, I'm beginning to develop side stories and have decided rather than include them in the main storyline like I did with the Unconditional Surrender arc, instead I will post them separately. I'll try and keep enough in Mother's Journey to allow the core story to remain coherent even to those who haven't read the satellite material, but the story will be much fuller and richer if you read it all.

A Mother's Journey

Throughout time, mothers have watched their children go off to fight with both pride and fear in their hearts. Would the mothers of magical girls be any different if they knew?

Ageless and timeless, Scottish noblewoman and mother of two magical girls, Fiona Graham, has been a wish recipient several times over, a web of magic that has written her into the fabric of every human magical girl from the first to the last even as she is compelled to tell their stories. Dragged as she was across worlds with Homura, she witnessed Sagitta Luminis, the birth of a universe without witches. Yet even her knowledge is not complete. She now struggles against time to bring together all the pieces she hopes can save Homura, and the world, from the madness growing from the time-traveler's betrayed wish to protect her best friend and failure to fulfill her solemn promise, made just prior to a mercy killing she views as a murder, to prevent her guiding star from ever contracting again.

A Daughter's Journey (Rated M for violence, specifically the depiction of a witch-induced suicide in Ch 1)

Throughout time, girls have known both hurt and Hurt. Temporary setbacks and transient defeats may respond to the kind words or embrace of a dear friend, but for those hurts that define us only hard work and an often painful voyage of self discovery will provide peace. This story shares events from Madoka's perspective using the lens of Miki Sayaka. And just because Madoka can't get involved, don't assume Sayaka can't be part of the unfolding events. As another side story, Take This Cup, will explain, Sayaka isn't just any magical girl either...

Even prophets and messiahs have their moments of doubt. After hundreds of failed attempts, through the ageless wisdom of one small child, the youngest magical girl in generations, the mahou shoujo of Mitakihara have united against a common foe - fear. Kirika is dead, Oriko defeated, and the knowledge that "today is not my day to die" has been embraced by the girls for whom knowledge of their fate has always been the end of hope...and life. Homura is ecstatic! Defeating Walpurgisnacht without Madoka contracting should now be a mere formality. At long last, she has reached the end of her seemingly neverending journey. But just as she begins to explain the coming threat to her peers, Oriko, who by rights should be a lifeless corpse with a shattered soul gem, snatches victory from defeat leaving Madoka dead- surrounded by her grieving friends. What happens next as Sayaka's and Homura's grief combine in a magical spasm that created a world was never told, and remains unknown to all except Homura, Sayaka (although for now she's forgotten), and the Historian. Yet as obscure as that story is, even to the Goddess of Magical Girls since of them all that one world isn't Hers, it drives events to this day in the post-Madoka world...
