The Ancient Language - Page on IC Wiki site that contains history and dictionary of words, including english translation (http:///wiki/Ancient_Language) HOBBIES Programming (websites), horses back riding, reading, writing, hiking (when I can) FAVORITE BOOKS I enjoy a range of books across multiple genres, including Sci-Fi/Fantasy. Below are among my more recent favorites: -- A Natural History of Dragons, A Memoir by Lady Trent - Marie Brennan - Currently reading. -- The Inheritance Cycle - Christopher Paolini -- The Golden Compass - Philip Pullman (Loved the movie too! I have yet to read his other two books in series) -- The Hobbit - J.R.R Tolkien (Looking forward to the movie. I have yet to read the Lord of The Rings Series) -- The Reluctant Dragon - Kenneth Grahame (Although not named the dragon was actually quite comical in this book) -- Jeremy Thatcher Dragon Hatcher - Bruce Coville (Ok I admit. I read this book because CP had mentioned it as one source of inspiration for Eragon. That aside the story was actually quite good!) -- War Horse - Michael Morpurgo (Awesome story! What makes it even more amazing is that it's based on true events -- talk about a fated friendship in the midst of tragedy! I waited to see the movie first! Didn't want it spoiled by the book. It was actually very good -- it's Steven Spielberg how could it not be?) -- Eragon's Guide to Alagaesia - Christopher Paolini (awesome!) -- Dragon Keeper (Volume I of the Rain Wilds Chronicles) by Robin Hobb - Hard to follow at first, but gets allot more interesting from middle to end. I found this book to be chock full of light-hearted moments. Made me laugh quite a bit! -- Dragon Haven (Volume II of the Rain Wilds Chronicles) by Robin Hobb -- City of Dragons (Volume III of the Rain Wilds Chronicles) by Robin Hobb -- Blood of Dragons (Volume IV of the Rain Wilds Chronicles) by Robin Hobb - Currently reading -- Beyond the Plains by Travis Bughi (Very interesting story. I think he makes use of every mythical creature possible in this story, including some of his own!) -- The Forest of Angor by Travis Bughi -- Maiden Flight by Bianca D'Arc -- Border Lair by Bianca D'Arc -- The Ice Dragon by Bianca D'Arc -- Wet Goddess by Malcolm J. Brenner ... and the list is still growing :) Here are some of my less recent favorites: -- The Earth's Children Series (Clan of The Cave Bear, Valley of Horses, Plains of Passage, The Mammoth Hunters) - Jean M. Auel -- The Chronicles of Narnia - C.S. Lewis (well, technically I didn't read the seven books. I bought the audio version and listened to them over a span of two days. Loved the movies they've made so far!) -- Jurassic Park, The Lost World, Sphere - Michael Crichton -- The Rain Maker, The Last Juror - John Grisham -- The Dolphins of Pern - Anne McCaffrey (I have yet to read any of her Dragon Riders of Pern books) -- Mind In The Waters - Joan McIntyre -- Cujo, Pet Cemetery - Stephen King FAVORITE MUSIC Just about any with the exception of: Rap, Heavy Metal/Alternative and Country (although I do like Jonny Cash and Nickelback). FAVORITE GAMES Mmmm ... not really a big game player; however, I do occasionally play Dragons of Atlantis. A couple of my co-workers are fans of Skyrim (hmmm ... maybe one day I'll try it) How I ended up starting "Chosen": That actually has an interesting story behind it. Oddly enough I happened upon this site before I even read the first book in The Inheritance Cycle. The first story I read was The Future Begins (which by the way happens to be my favorite among favorites). I was so intrigued by the story that I bought the first three books as a set and then the fourth when it came out in Nov. 2011; all of them Kindle editions (Hmmm ... makes me wonder just how many others were inspired to buy CP's books because of The Future Begins. Maybe Fresh Blood should be getting referral fees from CP?). I had already seen the movie, thank God! They changed the storyline so much that I was amazed! Had I read the book first the movie would have no doubt been disappointing. Anyway, like so many other readers I thought Eragon and Saphira were perfect for each other. Odd you might say? Well there have been odder pairs: can anyone say Twilight? (no offense to Twilight fans). I didn't actually make the decision to attempt writing this story until after I read the The Uncertain Future (my second favorite among favorites) which was published shortly after book 4 came out. Being that CP didn't end the fourth book with an ExS I, like other writers on this site, decided to write a story where they are together. One that continued from book 4. And that's pretty much it :) xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx I copied the below list from another Fan Fic author's profile, at least those applicable to me. A few of these are so true about me it's not even funny: *If you think that the Inheritance cycle are the best books known to woman and man, copy and paste this onto your profile.* (definitely the best I've read so far) If you think that writing or reading Fanfic stories is fun, copy and paste this onto your profile. If you ever forgotten what you were talking about in a conversation, put it in your profile. (yep, that's happened to me more than once.) If you've ever talked to yourself, copy and paste this into your profile. (uh, on occasion) If you haven't died yet, copy and paste this onto your profile If you've ever asked a really stupid, obvious question, put this in your profile (yep, still do sometimes). If you actually take the time to read other people's profiles, put this in yours. Did you know the average American only reads 3 books a year? If you don't believe that it's even possible to read that little, copy and paste this onto your profile. If you're one of those people who get excited when you see just one review, paste this into your profile (yep, I must confess). If you have ever pushed on a door that said pull or vise versa copy this into your profile (sorry to say "yes" this has happened to me before) The list below was copied from another member's profile. I couldn't resist posting when I read it. It's such a hoot! ;) As it happens I've struggled with co-dependency before so naturally found item 2 to be the funniest of all (go figure): If you are obsessive-compulsive, press 1 repeatedly. If you are co-dependent, please ask someone to press 2 for you. If you have multiple personalities, press 3, 4, 5 and 6. If you are paranoid, we know who you are and what you want, stay on the line so we can trace your call. If you are delusional, press 7 and your call will be forwarded to the Mother Ship. If you are schizophrenic, listen carefully and a little voice will tell you which number to press. If you are manic-depressive, it doesn't matter which number you press, nothing will make you happy anyway. If you are dyslexic, press 9696969696969696. If you are bipolar, please leave a message after the beep or before the beep or after the beep. Please wait for the beep. If you have short-term memory loss, press 9. If you have short-term memory loss, press 9. If you have short-term memory loss, press 9. If you have low self-esteem, please hang up our operators are too busy to talk with you. If you are menopausal, put the gun down, hang up, turn on the fan, lie down and cry. You won't be crazy forever. If you are blond, don't press any buttons, you'll just mess it up. |
