Hi everyone! What can I tell you about myself?

Well, I've been writing fanfic for a loooong time, I've just never posted any of it until recently. Even before I did any writing I daydreamed about my favourite shows a lot as a young kid.

My main interest is OC's. I love how a new character can bring interesting perspectives to an existing world. I love seeing how authors incorporate their original character and take stories in different directions.

The last two years of writing and sharing my stories on the FanFiction website have been amazing for me. Not only have I improved my writing, but I've also met a lot of amazing people who I now call friends. This is a fabulous community where people can come to share their work and talk about their favourite shows in a way that they may not be able to in the real world.

A little bit about Scarlett...

Scarlett is an OC I dreamt up many, many years ago. I obsessively watched TMNT as a kid and fell in love with the idea of a mutant cat being part of the turtle's story. Why? I guess I just really love cats :)

A few years ago I discovered the 2012 TMNT series and, pretty much at the same time, I also discovered that fan fiction was a real thing that people did. As I read the stories on this site I remembered my own idea of a mutant cat (many others have had the same idea!) and Scarlett's story took shape in my mind. My 8 year old self probably wouldn't have quite pictured Scarlett as she is though lol.

Scalett's adventures pretty much follow the 2012 series story arc but I try not to rely too heavily on existing dialogue or blow-by-blow scene reconstruction where I simply insert Scarlett into the picture. Instead I work on bringing a new perspective to the turtle's adventures through her eyes. Her story runs alongside theirs. At times she changes events slightly or takes the story in a new direction. She is her own character in the universe. Her existence doesn't rely on the turtles and she isn't a 'Mary-Sue' or basic love interest for one of the guys.

I have a huge playlist of songs on my iPod dedicated to Scarlett. Some of them are actual soundtracks for an entire chapter and others just help me capture the mood of a scene or character. I promised MajorCartooniac that I would share some of these songs on my profile and I've finally gotten around to doing it :)

Bangarang by Skrillex (Neko: Chapter 36 'The Fall' - the major fight scene between Scarlett and Karai plays out to this entire song!)

Default by Django Django (I always thought this would make a great background track for a free spar training session)

More Human Than Human by White Zombie (great to listen to when I'm trying to picture Scarlett being kick arse lol)

Trembling Hands by The Temper Trap (oh man, this song is just amazing. It often helps me get in the mood to write how Scarlett feels dealing with her mutation. Especially during the times when she's feeling all alone)

Shut Up and Dance by Walk the Moon (Neko: Chapter 32 'One Day' - I imagined that this would be one of the songs playing at the turtle's Mutation Day party. I can totally see Mikey doing his signature moves to this song!)

Dear Science by Seth Sentry (You have to listen to this song and picture Scarlett and Mikey playing it around Donnie just to mess with him lol)

Come In Hard by Hardknox (Neko: Chapter's 20 and 21 'Of Rats and Men' parts 1 and 2 - I love love love this song. More for the music than the words. It has the perfect vibe for the action that begins with Scarlett leaving the lair being towed behind the go-karts all the way through to when she returns home covered in rat blood. Brilliant!)

My Friend Robot by Regurgitator (Aussie music, yay! Okay so this song is for a scene I never ended up writing but wouldn't it be perfect for when Donnie fires up his Turtle Mech to fight the Kraang? Or maybe when Metalhead is kicking butt!)

It's Time by Imagine Dragons (suggested to me by Major and much loved, this song is perfect for Scarlett when she first joins the turtles and is trying to prove her worth. Thanks Bubbles!)
