Author has written 1 story for Highlander. Let's see, what could you want to know about me? Formerly known as Agony Inkwell I like Highlander (obviously). Gaston Leroux's Le Fantome de l'Opera is one of my favourite books. No, I did not like Susan Kay's version, and no one will convince me to change my mind. I can appreciate the adaptations of the story if I can manage to suppress the urge to compare/contrast it to the original narrative. That being said, I really enjoy other phans' takes on the complex character of Erik. I might not wholeheartedly agree with a depiction of Cuddly!Erik, but he did say that, if Christine loved him, he would be as gentle as a lamb. With regards to other fandoms . . . . . I'm just dipping my toe in the waters here. When I do get around to posting something, make sure you read everything; don't skip the notes because, odds are, I've answered whatever questions you might have already. I try to keep my ANs short; they are not there to inflate my word count. Please, don't decide it's not worth ten seconds to go over them. Hmm, what else? I love to write. I love to experiment in the kitchen. I can't draw worth a fig. No, seriously, even my stick figures are . . . not good. But put a pastry bag in my hands and I can decorate a cake rather nicely. Yeah, I don't know why that is, either. I'm currently working on poetry and stories that I hope to publish soon. When I write, it tends towards darker subject matter. No, I don't write smut. No, I don't think there's anything wrong with stories with adult subject matter; it's only that I've already tried my hand at it (on my old account), and it didn't go all that well. (It was more that the people reading such stories didn't like that I didn't keep the level of explicitness up - pun totally intended - or that there were chapters where the two main characters were not getting it on. *shakes head* Too bad, too, as it would have been an interesting story if I'd continued it. Ah, well.) When I say I write darker subject matter, what I mean is that it's not all light and fluffy and fun/funny. I don't write comedy. (I did post one semi-comedic fic on my old account, but that's simply not my cup of tea.) There was one horror/suspense/dark fic I was posting there, but it was, disturbingly, taken as a romance by those reviewing it, and what was I going to do? Ask them what was wrong with them that they called a rape scene hot/romantic? *shudders* I kept trying to make it darker/more disturbing until it was nothing more than a ludicrous parody of itself. (No, it's not up anywhere anymore.) I'm happy to review stories I've enjoyed, and, if I point out a typographical error or a misused word, it's because I actually care. I will not play review-for-review. I do not accept unsolicited writing challenges. (I did that once, and . . . never again. Never again. Her No, I never know when I'll have a new chapter/story. I don't like putting up short chapters (that is, less than a good thousand words, not counting author's notes), and I like getting things just right before I let anybody read it. Saying "OMG, I love it! Update soon!" is not going to inspire me to work on it faster. I appreciate feedback, of course, so say something worth reading. If a story is marked as complete, do not get it into your head that I'm going to go back and change the narrative to suit whatever conclusions you jumped to. (Yes, that happened on my old account. Someone somehow got it in her head that Person C was actually Person F, which made no sense since Person C was roughly 20 years old and Person F was someone the Protagonist had known twenty years prior. Yeesh!) There are very few reasons I will block someone here; these decisions came from the time when I still regularly used my old account. A few things I believe (No, this is not a copy-and-paste list.) Religion should not dictate/outweigh what is best for your health. Starving yourself is nothing to be proud of. If you're choosing not to eat, seek help before you wind up killing yourself. You deserve to eat nutritious food and be healthy. You are entitled to your own opinion; just make sure you remember that everyone else has that same right. Belittling/berating someone for not sharing your opinion shows your own bigotry. Hatred is an ugly thing, no matter at whom it is directed. Pity those who hate those who are different, for the hateful have no room in their hearts for joy or love. You deserve a loving, trusting relationship. Don't let anyone tell you that you should settle for someone who doesn't respect you enough to treat you well. And treat the people around you as you would like to be treated. Yes, some people are just plain jerks, but don't be a jerk back to them; that's only giving them what they want. No one gets to tell you how you're supposed to feel about the family who raised you. You deserve to have people in your life who are supportive enough to encourage you. The people who try to keep you down . . . Do they really deserve to be called family? Or friends? No one has the right to dictate with whom you fall in love. As long as you are both consenting adults, I wish you the best and hope you are happy. I'd have an easier time respecting your right to practice your religion if it didn't involve completely disrespecting mine. There have only been three times I was a shipper: Zack and Kelly (Saved by the Bell), Ross and Rachel (Friends - and, honestly, I don't really ship them anymore), and Cory and Topanga (Boy Meets World). I never objected much to them splitting up because I knew that they would wind up together in the end. Most other pairings, I can look at and say, "Yeah, okay, I can see why people want them together." Some, however, make no sense to me (I won't list those here, though, but I tend to avoid fandoms where such pairings tend to be nearly ubiquitous.) My canine children are the most important people to me. My boyfriend understands this. No, I don't care if anyone doesn't like that. My family is not for anyone else to define. Yes, I love writing. I love reading. If it was up to me, everyone would have a dictionary and know full well how to utilise it, along with a good thesaurus. If I see "prolly," "would of," "one in the same," "other then," "than again," " 's" added to a noun with the intention of making the word plural, or "your" being used in place of "you are," I want to reach through the internet connection and slap the writer with a dictionary (and the dictionaries I have are pretty hefty.) While we're on the subject of incorrectly used words, defiantly means in a defiant manner; definitely is a synonym for clearly or precisely. /*exasperated sigh*/ (Hey, stop removing my asterisks, FFN. Why would I go to the trouble of typing it if I didn't want it there?) You can call me Ms. Inkwell, Rona, or Kate. I have a twitter account, but I don't say much there. If you skipped everything above only to see my story listings, I'm going to say it again: Read the Author's Notes in my stories. I have probably anticipated your questions and addressed them there. |
