This was brilliant! I loved it so much even though idk what a trope is! I was certain you were going to say Elsie's dream wasn't a dream, and that Charles really did go lie with her (being discreet enough to cover her naked form with her blanket). I was obvs wrong. :)

To be honest I have no idea what a trope is, which one was introduced here, or if it matters. (Google had a few definitions but none that seemed to coincide with anything in this chapter!)

There's a gentleness to the angst of this that is just wonderful.

I love the way it all ties together, and the attention to detail about every aspect, and how things feel, and how they all deal with the utter strangeness of it all, which somehow feels so right.
