Reviews for Christmas 1871
EmmaElizaRose chapter 3 . 10/17/2019
This story is absolutely beautiful. I can't even describe how much I love it. I wish there were more, or at least an epilogue, but I doubt that'll happen after nine years.
Thank you so much for this gift, though. The ending is so sweet and hopeful and happy. I hope they have another child. I'm glad Rhett understands that he's at fault for her flaws.
I'm definitely adding this story to my Favorites. And Follows, but that's just wishful thinking.
Truckee Gal chapter 3 . 5/10/2019
A spark of joy learning that, when it comes to mother and daughter Christmas trees, great minds think alike!

Rhett’s introspective on his own guilty role: “He often wondered how much better off she would have been if he had never met her.” Well, he certainly treated her worse than a pet, using it as a nasty, hurtful anti-endearment. Tonight, Mr. Know It All finally realized that his long-held assumptions were dead wrong. Yet even before that, his gift for Scarlett this Christmas was designed to recreate a time when the impossible seemed possible. Oh for an epilogue of that night!

PS: It’s real name is Fraser Fir.
Truckee Gal chapter 2 . 5/10/2019
Bonnie is just adorable, reminiscent of Scarlett’s childhood before The War.

While others party on, Scarlett is lost in reminisces and Rhett is entertaining fantasies. They are both so lonely and in need of each other, with too much water under the bridge to act. It’s got me humming, “Blue Christmas.”
[Songwriters: Billy Hayes & Jay Johnson (1948)]
Truckee Gal chapter 1 . 5/10/2019
Scarlett is not her usual Christmas party girl self and reminiscing only spoiled her cherished memories. Good thing Melanie’s radar was on high alert!

gumper chapter 3 . 10/21/2016
Loved this and a continuation would be fantastic too. This always seemed a sadly underdeveloped area in the book - I really enjoyed your exploration of Scarlett's silent grief (and the hopeful outcome)
Guest chapter 3 . 10/8/2016
What a charming ending! And all around fabulous story.
PrincessAlica chapter 3 . 12/14/2015
Just wanted to say, I just reread this, specifically because I was looking for it, and I love this story. I wish you still wrote. We were just remembering your Death of Rhett Butler series that never got finished. If you ever want to stop in and say hi, Just wanted you to know that you are missed!
VanessaHolliday chapter 3 . 1/1/2015
New to the fandom. Love this take on S&R. Scarlett's introspection after yrs of 'I'll think about it tomorrow.' Her realization what a contemptible heel Ashley was, and that she wanted the relationship she shared w Rhett earlier in their marriage. Rhett's realization that he made her into his younger self, a self that thumbed its nose at the rules of society, only to realize that those things he tossed away in his youth were what he truly valued and are what hold a society/families together. There is a hopeful note to this chapter but it would be wonderful if you could continue further, or at least write an epilogue to show some resolution.
