This is amazing, bittersweet and wholesome at the same time... Better than long multiple chapter in my opinion

This is beautifully written and so bitter sweet. I love the way their paths cross but they never have an overly dramatic "this is my entire life story" session. Ed gets lost, finds his way back, then leaves without a trace. Niether of the worlds are significantly impacted by it. It so matter of fact and riddled with unfulfilled potential. It makes it sad, though it's hard to pinpoint exactly what's so sad about it. It also makes it beautiful.

This is kinda sad...

this story is all the better for being kept short, Ed has fought his war, he doesnt need to get involved, going home is his victory

Imagining Ed IN THIS YEAR is really crazy. How aloof and dedicated and not thinking that he is actually anyone's friend and just trying to get back to Al and not have happy enough memories to create a patronus (oh my goshhhh you nearly killed me there) and then actually finally getting to go home and ahhhhh I loved it. So much.
