Actually, in a past review, I said that Harry was better off without the Dursleys, not with. My bad.

However, it’s been the DADA teachers who have tried to kill Harry, not the Potions ones. One has to wonder if Sluggy’s safety record was as good with the younger years as it was with the NEWT level classes? And how Hermione will scream when she gets an older book where the recipes don’t work (after having made Polyjuice out of a somewhat better book).

I am quite stunned when Sirius says that all Slytherins aren’t necessarily evil, and that Harry might learn something from Snape in DADA—that certainly wasn’t his attitude in canon. In fact, in OotP, his main regret was that he hadn’t finished Snape off.

And of course nobody is going to tell Harry that Sirius gleefully tried to kill Snape and even more joyously participated in group torment of same (although you would really think that Harry would remember the events of PoA, clearly he doesn’t).

Good chapter-it's nice to see that Sirius is really worried about taking care of Harry, and not seeing him as a clone of James.

Does Sirius Black remember that he nearly finished off Snape by scraping his head against the wall in the tunnel out of the Shrieking Shack? I would be surprised if he didn’t, since he seemed to hold a grudge that it hadn’t worked in OotP.

The sad fact remains, however, that he’s still better with the Dursleys. I wonder if Harry is going to mention that Dumbledore left him there? And keeps sending him back?

But at least Harry is safe from his relatives this summer.

I hope to see more of this, very interesting start. You've got the characters spot on so far.

You said you weren't any good at writing Snape! That is a load of tosh, you are great at writing him! Why couldn't you let Sirius or Harry hex him, just a bit?! Wasn't it tempting? Great chapter! I hope Andy and Sirius makes up so Harry and Sirius can have her and Ted over for dinner!
