You've done a miracle with giving Percy a personality and a motivation that rip him out of his usual "upstuck git with a stick up his ..." corner into a very lifelike and believable direction. And the caring during the worst of times makes him almost loveable as a figure. That's some impressive writing you've shown here, really impressive!

You're going to laugh at me, but I actually teared up in the last act ...twice. I think this might be my favorite piece that you've written.

Some utter fantastic work here, especially in how you flesh out Percy's character to make his rulebook hugging personality understandable and his estrangement from his family seem believable based on the events of the series!

Pleasant-enough read, with good story mechanics, but it told us nothing of significance that we didn't already know from canon.

We *almost* care about Percy, but the story seemed to keep a distance from him. Perhaps a higher show/tell ratio would help.

Overall, no spice or "zing", but no major offenses... A solid, plain vanilla, diversion.

This was beautiful. It nearly made me cry. Not only is it good storytelling on an emotional level, but you put nice emphasis on how Percy sees the events of the Second War from his view in the Ministry.

Very good, like always! It was an interesting and original idea, although I think you need to get even more into Percy's head. I don't think he would completely estrange himself from his family for no reason other than because he thinks the Ministry is right. His grief over Fred could have been stronger, too. Anyways, I liked it alot.

I enjoyed this and was very impressed that you managed to take us through Percy's journey in under 4000 words! Brevity indeed.

And such a journey: from his hero worship at 11 to his pride and respect then on to his frustration at what he perceives to be his father's lack of ambition rather than recognising the job's intrinsic worth to others. Then we move to their row about Dumbledore which Percy doesn't understand strikes at the heart of Arthur's world-view, deriding his father because Percy has come to see ambition as a worthy end in itself. We see how he doesn't (at this stage) understand Umbridge's false concern for her own ends. Then we move to Percy disowning his own family, being too blinkered to see the whole truth as it would be to admit his own fallibility in trusting an institution so completely.

Then, as the excesses of the Puppet Minister begin to bite, his own doubts gnaw at him and he is sidelined for less that complete enthusiasm. Doubts begin to leak into his mind about things he knows simply cannot be true: muggles stealing magic; Harry murdering Dumbledore. It is his doubts that break the glamour of the Ministry's infallibility.

Our next scene jumps to the aftermath of the Battle and now Percy takes his blame full-on, concerned he may even be tried as a collaborator as he clearly now keenly feels his own part in the past three years.

Our final scene is perfectly understated, father and son, back to where they should have been. I loved it.
