This is... wow. Just wow. I 'bout cried at "maybe the snow and the rain would do him a favor and worsen his cough... so that he could join Sherlock and get it over with." Possibly because I've been there before, but the line's power still stands.

This is very well written, please continue writing because you have a true talent. You really know how to put the right words where to pull on the heart strings of your reader, that is a rare skill so don't lose it. This story had me near tears, keep up the good work!
