Author has written 13 stories for Harry Potter, Star Wars, Hogan's Heroes, One Piece, Cadfael, Zorro, Robin of Sherwood, Misc. Tv Shows, Biggles series, and Pirates of the Caribbean. Well, it was time I updated this. Rather than bore everyone with what I like to do in my spare time, I thought I'd put here information and trivia about my stories. I won't dwell too much on my older stories - I've put them behind me - but I will put up info about future stories and about what I'm working on at the moment. Works in progress - Stargate Atlantis/Mass Effect crossover : I started on this story a few months ago then forgot about it. I took it up again recently and merged it with another story I was working on. I always thought Stargate was a fantastic fandom for crossovers. The stargate provides an easy explanation as to how two universes could merge, not to mention the quantic mirrors and other such gimmicks. In this case I chose SGA rather than SG1 because... well, just because. Mostly because I've been watching that series again and so it was fresher in my mind. SGA and ME are particularly fun to work with because the lead characters share the same name. Atlantis Sheppard is written with two 'p' and ME Shepard with just one 'p', which makes it much easier to deal with though. I also didn't call ME Shepard "John", partly because it would be too confusing and partly because I hate the name John. That name and its variants has been so overused, it's been sucked dry of all personality (seriously, John Shepard, Jack O'Neal, Jack Bauer, Jack Ryan, John Sheridan...) I know why they use the name - to make it easier for the viewers to identify with the character - but personally I find that highly irritating. Anyway, end of rant. I've written a good chunk of the story already, though it'll still require heavy editting. My main problem is that I don't know yet exactly what sort of resolution I'm aiming for. I'm also a little worried about the pace - I'm taking things slow - so I'll post chapter by chapter and see people's reaction. If they seem to say it's boring and too slow I'll try to get the story to move faster. But I hate crossovers where one character tells the other in one long monologue full of exposition everything about their universe, it's just ridiculous, so I like to give the characters time to understand what's going on. - Dragon Age Origins : No title as of yet. The idea for this one has been lurking in my mind since the very first time I played through Ostagar. When I saw the cutscene about the battle, I thought "oh, the Darkspawn are gonna take the King prisoner and we're gonna have to rescue him !" Of course I was proven wrong about two seconds later but the idea was there. So this is the premise of this story ; what if Cailan hadn't died at Ostagar ? What if he was taken prisoner ? And what if a Grey Warden went after him ? I'm imagining this story as taking place in parallel to the events of the game. I'm using two different origins ; the human mage is "the" Grey Warden, the one who goes with Alistair to unite Ferelden. The human noble is another Grey Warden who fought beside Duncan and who was taken prisoner by Loghain after Ostagar. A little like Riordan, if you will. I'm also twisting the timeline a bit - the human noble, in this story, was recruited at the same time as Alistair. The human mage got the "in-game" recruitment through the Joining at Ostagar. I don't plan on giving too much away, not before I actually publish the story at least, but I've got quite a complex storyline worked out and if I do write the whole thing it's going to be very long. The story will focus mostly on the human noble's quest to save Cailan though there might be a few short insights into what's going on in the rest of Ferelden at the same time, especially with regard to some of the key decisions (whether to support the Templars or the mages, for instance, or the Dalish versus the Werewolves, that sort of things). ...so yeah, as you can see I'm deep into Bioware stuff at this time. I also need to finish posting the Path of the Jedi. Looking back on it, it has a few big flaws and could have been better edited. I tend to put in too much details that bog the story down and make the pace uneven, but I'm working to improve that. |
