A displaced Northerner living in the southern U.S., I wrote some Anime fanfic based on Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex many years ago while I was a soldier, and posted a bit of a tale in the Firefly/Serenity storyline in '08. Then I got out of the Army, went back to college and generally forgot I had an account here. I never thought I would be back on the Fanfic net and frankly, I was surprised when a curious search for Once Upon a Time fan fiction (after the 1.12 "Skin Deep" episode aired) lead me back here!

This is my guilty pleasure and I shudder to think what will happen when/if my cohorts discover that I am that Una.

In the course of studying for my graduate degree, I once ran across an article concerning Shakespeare and Popular culture that had a couple of interesting points:

The movie "Shakespeare In Love" is FANFIC (!) as is a best-selling book called _Will In The World_ (a fictionalized/historical speculative novel of Shakespeare's life).

Shakespeare himself regularly rewrote (or as we might say these days, "rebooted") other author's and playwrite's work, often making already popular stories into blockbusters!SO, we are actually carrying on a longtradition here:

Now: oh, yeah... fanfic.?! I come 'round to this stuff about every8 -10 years or so. I guess every time a world ends, I wash up on these fine escapist shores again. Back in 2012 what I didn't realize was that I had Parkinson's Disease. I think the official diagnosis was finally put on paper in October of that year, and I commenced to waiting an appeal from the VA for 100% service connected disability.WHich I got in 2014, right before my bankruptcy went the end of that year, Kathleen and I and our furbabies had all relocated to my childhood home in Binghamton, NY. After_that_house had been falling down around our ears for about 3 yrs , we bugged out for parts Norf, where I bought the Log Cabin and 4 3/4 acres of neglected farmland we're living right mother showed her true colors more than once in those years. And at the moment, we are not on terms.

The world as we know it actually does seem to be going through a major shift these days though: not the Earth, mind you, just the human society/cultures that riding around on the ole big blue marble.
George Carlin once said the if the earth wanted us gone, she'd shake us off like a bad case of fleas.Heboogabooogah!!! I wonder what he would have had to say about this health crisis PANDEMIC : Coronavirus aka Covid-19, what the Mango Mussolini likes to refer to as the Chinese Virus or the Wuhan Flu.
What an a-hole. But what do you expect when we've got ourselves saddled with the finest government their money can buy?

So, assuming that this crud I have is just a bad case of the flu - VA having picked the wrong one to vaccinate for this year- again -I'm going to have more time on my hands even than usual. My doctors arescared shiftless of thepublicand those individuals who might be carrying the dreadded yuck. it feels as though I have found myself inside some absurdist dystopian novel. as if Marcel Duchamp had written 1984 rather than George less profound - but at the same time a whole lot sillier.
