Author has written 16 stories for Fullmetal Alchemist, Harry Potter, and StarTrek: Deep Space Nine.

'Shall Never See So Much' is on 'Permanent Hiatus'.

As of 2020, one year after deleting “Mudded” b/c the world needs no more white stories (even critical) set in the odious, slavery-driven Confederate States, I’ve removed the note and feedback too. I‘m confident my readers join me to support the heroism and justice of the Black Lives Matter movement. If you don’t, see yourself out.

July 3, 2020: My medical situation made me slow to post my utter repudiation of J.K. Rowling’s hateful discrimination against a vibrant, beautiful, and appallingly persecuted population of women. I do so now. Transmisogyny, transphobia, and the invalidation of human lives and identities are foul, unacceptable, and unworthy of tolerance. Trans women are women. I’m not interested in debating basic human rights with anyone choosing willful ignorance over the dignity of the people around them. TERFS and trolls, see above and get out.

'If we shadows have offended,
Think but this, and all is mended:
That you have but slumbered here,
While these visions did appear...
And, as I am an honest Puck,
If we have unearnéd luck
Now to 'scape the serpent's tongue,
We will make amends 'ere long.
Else the Puck a liar call--
So good night unto you all.
Give me your hands, if we be friends,
And Robin shall restore amends!'

Stoplight Delight's F.A.Q.

What does 'discidium' mean?
Those who read my stories know that my mid-chapter breaks in most fics are denoted by the word 'discidium'. It's Latin, and it means 'pause or division'. I don't like the website's approved horizonal line: I feel it breaks up the flow of a chapter too much. Hence 'discidium'. The 'Star Trek: Deep Space Nine' stories use variations of 'fade' instead, because it is meant to evoke the camera directions in one of the scripts. So there you will see 'fade' between scenes, with 'fade to theme' at the end of a Teaser, and 'fade to black' at the end of a Part or a story.

Is 'Against the Moon' at some point going to become a slash fic?
No. This is a carefully considered position, and I have numerous reasons behind it. There are so many wonderful Wolfstar stories out there, but I've chosen a different path.

You haven't updated in FOREVER! Where are you?
I suffer from a chronic illness, which means I need to take long hiatuses when I experience a relapse. One of the ways I know I'm moving into remission is that I feel the urge (and have the strength) to write again. It's so reliable a benchmark that my doctors and I actually use it diagnostically. When I'm in one of those posting blackouts, don't worry: I'm not gone forever. I'm just trying to heal.

Why are your stories so long?
I love long works. Of my favourite novels aimed at readers over the age of 10, not a single one of them clocks in at under 300,000 words. I adore epics, and I adore details -- both in the stories I read and in the stories I write. Fanfiction presents a unique opportunity to write these sweeping, intricate stories with their sedate pace: there's no publisher looking over my shoulder, counting the words as they count the pennies. It delights me to write these kind of works, and that's probably never going to change. There are lots of authors out there who favour a faster pace and more brevity. I'm just not one of them.

Why are you writing ('Mudded'/'The Viewless Winds'/Redacted Future Project) instead of 'Against the Moon'?
As my nom-de-plume implies, fanfiction is a delight for me... but only when my Muse is eager. When I am inspired to write a particular story, the words flow almost of their own accord and I get completely absorbed in the writing. It's a glorious feeling that, strangely enough, Stephen King expresses perfectly in Chapter 7 of 'Misery'. I can still write well when I am not inspired, and in fact, often do so when I'm working on my original fiction. But it is not as fun, it is not as rewarding, and the resulting writing is not as rich and vibrant. I know that so many of my amazing readers love AtM, and that you've all been waiting very faithfully for an update. That makes it frustrating for all of you when I can't update because of my health, and even more frustrating when I'm updating fics from other fandoms so prolifically. I understand that, and I appreciate your fidelity. But at the end of the day, I write fanfiction for the joy it brings me, and sometimes that means writing something with a smaller readership because it gives me joy to create it.

That being said, I will inevitably come back to AtM. I always do. I've been working on "Against the Moon" since 2001, and I always, always come back to it.

(July 3, 2020 Update: Rowling and her apparently boundless bigotry won’t stop me either. The fandom she founded has outgrown and outstripped her, and we all deserve better. Disagree? Check the top of the profile and see yourself out.)
