Changes to Stories

People may or may not notice, some of my stories have been removed. This is because I have discovered, through a recent exprience involving my response to a prompt challenge by Reflekshun (story: "The Game is Afoot"), that fanfiction admins DO NOT give prior warning before removing stories they consider to violate guidelines. Furthermore they record the incident as an 'infraction', and restrict the 'offending' account (preventing the author in question from publishing new fan fiction for a few days) as a punishment. Authors currently have no chance to check/ammend/back up stories before their removal. They do not even specify exactly how stories violate guidelines, or which parts, to facilitate ammendment. Seems rather like killing a fly with a sledgehammer, but it's their site so what can one do? Therefore I have removed my stories "Surprises Come in Threes" (involved real life people), "Holmes From Home" (involved real life people, very sad to have to remove this one!), "A Writing Proposition" (script format and involved real life people), and "Ten Things I Must Not Do While Fraser is on a Shift" (a list), as they violate guidelines.

You may also have noticed that I have removed certain chapters of 'The Two Bloggers', namely Sherlock's "Top Ten Favourite Jokes" (a list, contained a script section, and arguably not original enough content), "Interlude: Posted by Sherlock and John" (involved a sensitive topic about a real person), "Sherlock's Christmas Message" (I thought it would count as a 'one/two liner', and I am considering removing the 'Birthday Menu', in case it constitutes a list. I have changed the format of the 'blog comments' arc, as I was afraid it would constitute chat/script. I have also removed some real life names (e.g. from the 'Untitled post'). Finally I have condensed some shorter chapters at the beginning of the Soul arc into just one email-exchange chapter, with a slightly different format, so that the chapters aren't counted as 'one/two liners', or spam, given the amount of punctuation they would have had had they been condensed in their previous form.

This is why the fic has suddenly gone from 112 chapters to 102 chapters.

These changes are to make sure that nothing in the story violates, or could be interpreted as violating, these guidelines, in this seeming time of draconian crack-down. This is my baby! And there are people out there who are just busybodies - users like you and me - trying to get stories deleted that don't meet their personal standards, by reporting them to admin. Sorry to sound bitter, but the thought terrifies me! I am happy to send you the missing chapters if you like - that sounds so pompous now I read it back! Finally I just want to thank reviewers for their reviews left on the deleted chapters, and say I have kept the chapters and the reviews for myself to look over and remind me, as I genuinely appreciate them.

Tin Man

A science fiction/fantasy TV series reworking of The Wizard of Oz, consisting of three, hour-long episodes. Dorothy Gale (aka. 'DG'), a waitress in Kansas, is whisked to the Outer Zone (aka. the O.Z.) by a tornado, where Princess Azkidillia has enslaved and punished people, torched the landscape and rules by Tyranny. DG encounters Glitch, a formerly brilliant young man who has had half his brain removed on Azkidillia's orders, because of the knowledge he possesses. She also meets Raw - a Lionine, yet frightened being whose people have been enslaved because of their psychic abilities, and Cain - a man who was imprisoned in a tin suit for years watching a holographic time-loop of his family's destruction, and who as such has become bitter, cynical, grief-stricken and full of desire for revenge. The series follows their adventures, personal journeys and eventual rescuing of the country.

Sherlock Holmes

Well...I don't think this needs very much explaining! Save to say that all my fan fics in this category are based on the book, rather than TV series.

BBC Sherlock

My main fan fiction muse currently, The BBC modernised version of Sherlock, starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, and my main fic within this is my ongoing project 'The Two Bloggers'. Although there have been two TV series now (six ninety minute episodes in total), most of Two Bloggers was written in the gap between those; so although I try to stay true to the TV characters I had to expand their traits and the story lines (both based on a combination of what had gone before in the books and the TV show, with a few original details made up), due to lack of source materialAs a result there are now a few clashes between the fic and the TV show, but I hope you will enjoy it nonetheless.

LazyTown

A children's TV series about a girl called Stephanie who goes to stay with her uncle Milford Meanswell in Lazytown. She makes friends with Ziggy (obsessed with sweets), Pixel (obsessed with computers), Trixie (a liar and prankster) and Stingy (a very selfish person). Before she came they used to play computer games and eat sweets all day everyday. Stephanie gets them playing outside with the help of Sportacus, a 'slightly better than average' hero who is patient, kind and moves around/saves people using sports stunts. He lives in a sky ship, eats 'sports candy' (aka. fruit and veg) and is dressed all in spandex. They are antagonised by the 'villain' Robby Rotten, a tyrant who is really a bit of a softie, who tries to make everyone lazy by finding various ways to get rid of Sportacus and StephanieFortunately, he is always foiled.

Doctor Who

Doesn't need much explaining! I try to stay in character and use established characters when I write, unless I get a good idea for an original one that in some way fits part of the established canon.

Bridge to Terabithia

A film based on a book of the same name. It tells the story of Jesse Aarons, the son of a struggling farmer, who makes friends with Leslie Burke -- the only child of two writers. Encouraged by Leslie, and as a coping strategy for school bullying, and in the case of Jesse, a life burdened with chores and overshadowed by his four sisters, the two children claim part of the forest for their imaginary kingdom, Terabithia. They renovate an old treehouse, and enter the kingdom by swinging across a creek on an old rope. But can Terabithia survive in the minds of others, such Jesse and his heart-hungry younger sister May Bell, independent of Leslie's wild imagination, vibrance and creativity?
