Penrose Quinn Just call me Penrose. Greetings! I am none other than just your average writer and a fan of a wide variety of fandoms. AO3: Penrose_Quinn Tumblr: penrose-quinn ANNOUNCEMENT: UPDATE: 08/21/20 I'm just coming out here saying that I've fallen a bit out of love for FFnet, as I'm more active in AO3 nowadays. I will still be posting chapters of some of my old works here whenever I also post in AO3. But new stories/works will be posted on the latter. For writing/story updates, you can check out my tumblr @penrose-quinn. Updates remain sporadic. MULTI-CHAPTER STORIES How Do You Court A Man? Anime: Kuroshitsuji Summary: This was the end, I know. Though it would not be as tragic if not for her contribution. In other words, she would be the end of me Based on what happened to the Viscount after the Campania. Genre: Romance/Friendship/Light Humor/Some bit of Hurt and Comfort every now and then AU
4/25/17 UPDATE: Yes, I posted something after two years. It's rewritten, simple as that. (Yeah, I know Comedy and Hurt&Comfort is a weird combination, but trust me, I'll make it work) Daughter of Mars Anime: Magi Summary: There was a saying that power resides to where men believe it resides and even a woman can cast a very large shadow upon a country. Genre: Adventure/Angst/Tragedy AU Notes: This is just an experiment story which I've decided to take seriously. Like another story of mine, I had to meticulously plan this one out. It's an experiment because this story is mostly inspired by an original story I've been planning out recently. But for the most part, I enjoy it because it handles politics, warfare, and the like. The characters are what intrigue me in this story, I guess. Like Magi, all the characters are growing and creating an endless string of relationships. Here, well, every event affects those relationships, each having there own consequences. Another thing, the lack of Fanalis fanfictions upsets me. Status: Discontinued For The Worse Anime: Bungou Stray Dogs Summary: Perhaps, it would have been the best choice if she did not try to stop a stranger from committing suicide because little did she know that unknowingly saving a detective costed her a wayward turn to her plans. Genre: Mystery/Crime/Angst/Suspense AU Notes: Basically, my Moments of Being Anime: Bungou Stray Dogs Summary: Fitzgerald gets an unexpected visit from an old friend. Genre: Friendship/Drama/Hurt and Comfort Follows Plot/Slight Canon-Divergent Notes: It's a shameless fix-it fic. That, and a shameless story where both my favorite authors actually meet. To sum it up, this fanfiction is downright shameless and I like it. I'd always wanted to write a story of two friends with conflicting beliefs, like a Professor X and Magneto thing. Just two completely different adults in paralleling circumstances yet somehow manage to be friends. To me, that's better than any love story. a dragon rises from a small stream Anime: Akatsuki no Yona Summary: Father told me once that life is a running stream, and like calm water, one must flow to its current and leave no ripple behind lest one leads a path adrift and off course. I agreed, except for the latter. Genre: Family/Friendship/Drama/Hurt and Comfort/Adventure AU Notes: It's my first SI/OC fanfic. Funnily enough, my source of inspiration for this was when I found myself disliking Lili/Soo-won ships and especially the not-so-subtle shipbaiting Kusanagi has done with this pair thus far. I understand, but it's just that I can't get over the fact that Lili's a bit too immature and naive for someone like Soo-won. Despite this, I found that there's some potential in Lili's character that hasn't been executed in a way I wanted to. I love AnY, but I believe some characters need to shine too. So I got curious, I started typing, and the rest was history. Oh, albeit my reasons, this doesn't necessarily mean Lili/Soo-won is the endgame. Then again, I'm not sure if there should be a pairing. The story's not really a romance, but it's more of a self-discovery story. Lots of personal feelings and crying. I'm going through my deepest, darkest memories just by writing this. Lycoris Radiata Anime: Hunter x Hunter Summary: He pores over her like pale gold—until the final fatal end. Genre: Drama/Angst/Tragedy AU Notes: Very new for me. This pairing is a bad addiction. It comes off as the opposite for Leopika. While I find the latter more platonic, this one is just dark and intriguing. However that's just it. But. Well, it makes up for a compelling narrative story-wise, especially when I cannot see Chain pair more than a self-destructive relationship. I find Chrollo a very interesting character and a great part of it revolves from his mystery. Oh, and I have no intention making him at least redeemable in this story either. Beneath the Weeping Wisteria Anime: Inuyasha Summary: Her husband used to be kind. Genre: Drama/Angst/Tragedy/Horror AU. Notes: This story just popped out as a What If scenario. I've been having this peculiar interest in Naraku lately, but oh well. The first thing I'd like to say is that this story is fucked-up and so messily complicated. At this point, it's not much of a surprise for me to like fucked-up things, but yeah, it's still kind of fucked up. The Simurgh's Song Anime: Magi Summary: She dreams of a world fated to fall, and wearing the face of another, she lives vicariously in it. Genre: Friendship/Drama/Hurt and Comfort/Adventure/Tragedy AU Notes: Second OC!Reincarnation Fic. Canon is being thrown out, as we speak. In all seriousness, this was just unexpected. I didn't even consider it before until I found myself coming back to the Magi fandom. It seemed like a missed opportunity to not try at least one Reincarnation Fic in Magi when canon approves of "alternate worlds and world-hopping." So now you have this hot mess. Basically another alternate version of the world where Alibaba's a girl, who happens to be someone else. The more I think about it, the more I realize that this story is a massive antithesis for a dragon rises from a small stream. RECOMMENDATION Chang Ge Xing by Xia Da I highly implore all of you to give this manhua a shot because it is just that damn good and so severely underrated that it hurts. I honestly feel like I did this wonderful story a great disservice that I hadn't really recommended it to anyone. For those familiar with Akatsuki no Yona and Arslan Senki out there, Chang Ge Xing also follows the similar vein of exiled royalty, politics, war, and a great cast of characters. However it stops there because CGX goes for a more grounded historical genre than that of fantasy since it is set in China during the Tang Dynasty. I should also commend it for how it handled its plot and characters—and don't even get me started with its gorgeous art. Sure the Chinese names/terms/references could get a bit confusing, but it's still such a remarkable read. I just really, really love Chang Ge Xing to death. Um, please look it up? If you want a more detailed review, I do suggest reading 100paperwishes's Why I never really got into Akatsuki no Yona. (For the AnY fans out there, it's not a rant review. Trust me, it's not. We all love AnY here so it's cool.) Link: https:// 1000paperwishes . wordpress . com /2015/01/30/ why-i-never-really-got-into-akatsuki-no-yona/ #more-404 Just remove the spaces. |
