There was silence for a moment on the other end of the radio. Sherlock worried that he had put another person off with his deductions. He didn't want to do that with someone as interesting as a retired army captain turned firefighter. A giggle broke through the radio static. "That," the Captain said, "was amazing." Or, how Sherlock falls a bit in love with firefighter!John.

When Sherlock, prince to the kingdom of Parthenia, is forced to live in seclusion, the last thing he expects is to encounter someone deep in the forest by his cottage. That someone turns out to be John Watson, a man so interesting that Sherlock almost forgets to be wary of strangers. With Moriarty's threat still looming over him, forgetting like that can be a dangerous thing.

As a general rule, Sherlock avoids his university's library. That is, until he goes in there one day and lays eyes on rugby captain John Watson. After that, Sherlock decides that the library might not be such a bad place after all.

Sherlock returns to find John at a restaurant with his girlfriend. Hoping for a quick reconciliation, he announces his presence to John. John doesn't take it as well as he'd hoped. Written for ughbenedict's tumblr prompt.
