Dragon Training has been postponed until Stoick's return from Helheim's Gate. During his father's month-long voyage, Hiccup forges a friendship with a creature he was raised to despise. Now, he must convince the other trainees that dragons aren't by their nature ferocious, and that there's a much larger problem that can only be stopped with cooperation between mortal enemies.

Astrid rescues Hiccup after he was taken by pirates four months ago. However, his mind and body have been shattered by starvation, abuse, and worse. Now, Astrid is left to pick up the pieces and try to find the mind of the boy she loves amidst the tendrils of darkness that hold him hostage. But the healing process will be long and difficult.

How fitting the Mother of Dragons would be aided by the Tamer of Dragons; her children need no taming, but there is no doubt the two of them were a legend in the making.
