Author has written 56 stories for Danny Phantom, Firefly, Batman, Big Hero 6, Avengers, SWAT, Criminal Minds, Persona Series, Alex Rider, Psych, and Rise of the Guardians. Hokay, so I obviously need another update. Sheesh. Alrighty, those of you following me have probably noticed the severe lack of updates over this past year (or, well, for almost as long as I've been on here). The reason is, it was my last year of college and I needed to really focus on my courses so I could graduate. Also, my work wound up being severely understaffed over the summer and so what I thought would be a break wasn't much of one. I apologize that I'm terrible at keeping to an updating schedule, and I apologize again that I can't really promise that I'll be able to stick to one now. I still have work to worry about and I'm trying to find a second, more permanent job, so my time is still sparse for writing. Secondly, I'm attempting to write an original story that will, hopefully, get published one day. I have a few friends who are helping keep me focused on it so I can actually finish it, and I'm about fifteen chapters in, currently, which is a major accomplishment for me. The main issue, over the years, with my delayed updates and dropping stories is mostly due to not having the greatest attention span. I literally have a filing cabinet full to overflowing of notebooks containing story details or prompts or starts that have either never been posted or never been finished. I'd like to eventually finish some of the better ideas, but it takes me time to write when my attention isn't fully focused on a story (which is why you'll sometimes see spurts of quick updates from me). I'm working on this, but I know it takes a lot for me to actually follow through (a friend of mine has a joke about my "fic graveyard", after all). Anyway, I've started a Twitter account specifically for my writing, so when I remember to, I'll post updates for my writing and which chapters I'm working on here: https://twitter.com/ElphieBLW As to my current stories: I've been working on a cross-over series, which includes Red White and Dead, Cloak and Dagger, Don't Believe the Lie, and their prequel, Falling Is Easy. This is currently on the back burner until I get to rewatch Psych, as I need to get my flow back for writing Shawn and Gus. These stories focus on an AU-ish world where Vlad royally screwed up Danny's life before Phantom Planet could take place. The entirety of the Danny Phantom series (minus Phantom Planet) takes place within about four months for this series, and Danny spent almost two years on the run from Vlad. This puts him, Sam, Tucker, and Valerie at 16, Jazz at 18, and Danielle at 14. While Red White and Dead and its two sequels take place after Danny's been missing for several months, Falling Is Easy follows Danny during those months on the run. Cross-overs used: Criminal Minds, Alex Rider, Psych, The Cape, CHAOS, Supernatural, (more to be listed as they develop). I also have an AU fic called The Narrow Road. This is a collaboration with a friend of mine done via IM, so it takes me a lot of time to transfer our dialogue into a format allowed on this site. We've got ten cases finished, averaging about 30 pages of dialogue per case, so that's around 6 chapters per case. It's looking to be at least 84 chapters long, and that's provided we don't come up with more cases between now and whenever we'd finish. The premise of this fic is basically that Danny grew up in a small town in Texas and recently moved to Amity Park, Illinois, to help out their police department. Sam, Tucker, Valerie, Dash, Vlad, and Lancer appear as main characters, along with an OC called Esu and a few other characters who'll pop up eventually. There are no ghosts or ghost powers, but some ghosts may show up as humans. The real question is, what made Danny leave his home in the first place? I've also started a (rather ambitious, I'll admit) rewrite of the Danny Phantom series, called Living with the Chills. It's going to delve a bit deeper than the show itself and eventually reorder some episodes to cope with me forcing it into a school-year timeline, though it will actually cover about three years, if my tentative timeline doesn't change too much (for the twentieth time or so). This story also will explain some of my own personal theories behind Danny's (and Vlad's, when he turns up) ghost powers. But come about season 2 or so, expect things to really start diverging from the original series. And I cannot wait for that to happen! :D Since these chapters tend towards about 15 or so pages per chapter, it takes a long time to type up, especially since I've not been pre-writing the chapters ahead of time. The Batman crossover, Zeus' Dice, is something I've been working on with the same friend who's helping with TNR, and super angsty. Its main premise is that there was this Tragedy in Amity Park (yes, that's Tragedy with a capital T) that caused massive chaos and a near-exodus of most of the people who survived it. Danny, left in much the same situation as The Ultimate Enemy, spends two years being shuttled from foster home to foster home before his social worker calls in a favor from a friend in Gotham. A friend who just so happens to know Bruce Wayne very well. This fic would mix together pretty much all my knowledge of Batman, which means Damian exists (and lives in the mansion), Dick's in college (but visits a lot with his Teen Titans buddies), Tim's a senior at Brentwood (and part of Young Justice), and Jason's back from the dead (and an anti-hero). That may not be exactly how things go in Batman canon, but frankly, Batman canon is confusing as hell, what with multiple universes and all. As to the Danny Phantom side of things, we've got canon up to about mid-way season three. He's got ice powers, but Danielle never turned back up. There's also the fun aspect of, gasp, the ghosts taking over his role as protector of Amity Park. Yeah, you read that right. The ghosts keep Amity Park safe while Danny's gone. And they're actually (for the most part) friendly with Danny when they do talk to him. Lastly, I know I have several half-started stories posted. Some of them have been just sitting for years. This is mostly because I have trouble keeping focused on stories. As ideas pop into my head, I tend to abandon whatever other plots I had in mind to work on the new, shiny idea. That leads to eventually looking back and going "Oh, hey, that's right, that's that story from X years ago. Huh. Whoops." As such, I want to offer these stories up for adoption, so they will (eventually) be put into In the Arms of an Angel to specify which stories are for adoption. If anyone's interested in adopting any of my stories, message me, and I'll try to send you any notes I had on plot and main points. I will say, however, that I intend to get back to writing both Outer Limits and Split Personalities (and hopefully I'll finish its sequel, Proteus Insidious, at some point. I probably should have thought through how long a Persona spin-off would take to plan and write...) eventually. These stories were very dear to me, and I really do want to continue them as soon as I can get the plot bunnies nibbling again. |
