Back to Baker Street: The True Story of BBC Sherlock

14/02/2017: Currently seeking Beta reader(s). Updates to continue regularly.

03/04/2017: My laptop is pretty broken at the moment and all my files with BTBS on it, so there might not be a new chapter for a while. Hopefully (!!!) I'll be able to get my files off of it soon, and there'll be an update as soon as that happens.

04/04/2017: My files have been successfully retrieved from my laptop! The computer is pretty much dead, but BTBS (along with numerous other WIPs) are safe and sound. Updates should continue semi-regularly from now on, hopefully once or twice a fortnight.

10/04/2017: I've finished the first draft of the second installment of BTBS and will be starting on my rendition of The Great Game tomorrow. The final chapter of BTBS: The Beginning will be posted on Monday or Tuesday, depending on how the Easter weekend pans out.

DISCLAIMER: This version of Sherlock Holmes is adapted directly from BBC Sherlock. The majority of dialogue and plot is taken directly from the show and belongs to the writers (as much as we wish that it didn’t at this current point in time). All blogposts are taken directly from The Personal Blog of Dr. John H Watson and The Science of Deduction, both written by Joseph Lidster.

It is also important to note that this is an adaptation of the show, rather than simply a novellisation of the script. Therefore, it is limited to one-person perspective and includes scenes that didn’t appear in the show. I have also taken creative license in developing the thoughts and interpretations of the narrating character, and should state that they are not, in any way, exactly what the showrunners intended. However, it is safe to assume that, as you are reading my adaptation of Sherlock, you too have a similar understanding of the programme and interpretation of the given subtext.

I would also like to thank Ariane DeVere for wonderfully transcribing the show, the first part of which I have linked to here.

Back to Baker Street: The Beginning reviews
After being invalided home from Afghanistan, John Watson was looking for some peace. Instead he managed to get himself caught up in a whirlwind of serial killings, car chases and awkward dinners, and it was all thanks to Sherlock Holmes. A BBC Sherlock re-write. Let's rewind back to the beginning, back to when John and Sherlock first met. This is the way it always should have been.
