I suddenly heard the door bang against the wall as it was opened violently and then slam shut. My friend had returned and I looked to see what had him so energetic. I wish I hadn't, for the look of venom he fixed me with caused me to step back in fright.

"Watson, my mind requires stimulation, and if there are no criminals to provide it, I must use the drug. Besides, it is none of your business anyway." With that, he leaned back to inject himself, and I did a very stupid thing.

A look at what happened to Watson, from the Battle of Maiwand to his return to England. As this is a prequel to STUDY IN SCARLET, Holmes makes no appearance whatsoever. Complete.
