Author has written 5 stories for Pokémon, and Cats. May. 2, 2006 Well, I am currently a college student, studying for an English major (if I can't find somewhere I want to go that offers a creative writing major) hoping to someday be a published author. First and foremost, I am an author. Fan fiction writing is a hobby I am exparamenting with, but don't worry. I won't leave you with any unfinished stories. I also enjoy reading (fantasy and sci-fi mostly) drawing, and skiing as much as I possably can. Orriginal fiction of mine can be found at FictionPress under the name of Rantyra. And now, because I didn't have one up, and I felt like updating, I give you the big list of favorite obsessions! It is incomplete, as I have far to many to type it all up in one sitting. I'll make a bit of a project of it. They are in no particular order of ranking (except for anythin Lord of the Rings related, which will always be my first and favorite favorite.) The Big List of Favorite Osessions Books: The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien- which a read before I read LotR, and love very much as well. The Silmarillion, by J.R.R. Tolkien- Yes, I love this as well. Within it, my favorite bits are probably the ones concerning Fingon and Maedhros, Beren and Luthien, Turin, and Earendil and Elwing. The Death Gate Cycle, by Margaret Weiss and Tracy Hickman- A very fantastic (in my opinion) series of books that hardly anyone has ever heard of, with some of the coolest and most interesting characters I've come across in literature. It has nothing to do with the much more well-known Dragonlance books (which I have never read) by the same authors. News! There is now a Death Gate Cycle section here at ! Hooray! Harry Potter, by J.K Rowling- Yup, I'm guilty. I tried to avoid reading it as long as I could, but shortly after book 4 came out, my mom (and just about everyone else I knew) pestered me until I read it, and I ended up loving it. :) My favorite charicter is Lupin, followed closely by Sirius, and as of book 6 I'm liking Tonks quite a bit, too. ;) As far as fanfics go, I like Marauder era ones best, although I'll certainly read others. Chronicles of Narnia, by C.S. Lewis- The very first fantasy books I ever read, and I still love them dearly. Narnia lead to Middle Earth, which lead to a whole world I had previously been unaware of. Sherlock Holmes, by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle- My dad bought me a complete boxed set, which I finally got around to reading, and now I'm hooked. Excellent. and a whole bunch of others that would take up far too much space to list. :) Movies: Lord of the Rings- I really don't think I need to explain this one, do I? ;) Star Wars- My first introduction to anything sci-fi-ish. I love them all very much. Back to the Future- I've always liked the idea of playing with time travel (as anyone reading Shadows of Time will know), so this is an obvious one. My idea of how exactly time travel would work isa little different, but that doesn't make it any less fun. Any of Miyazaki's movies- that I've seen, anyway. This would include Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Castel in the Sky, and several others. You can't get animated movies much more excellent than this. and if I listed every single movie I liked, I would overflow the computer in no time, I'm sure... TV and Anime: Rurouni Kenshin- My very favorite anime out there (and manga as well, for that matter.) It took me all of 2/3 of one episode to become completely addicted.(It's all the fault of that cute little red-haired guy with the sword, I swear!) ;)I refuse, however, to consider Seisouhen (the Reflections OVA) cannon. (Grumbles something about it having no basis in the manga whatsoever and characters being completely OOC.) Inuyasha- Following closely behind RuroKen. Also a fairly relatively recently aquired obsession. On annother note, is it just me, or do quite a lot of Kenshin fans seem to be Inuyasha fans as well, and vice-verca? And what is that fluffy thing Sesshomaru always has with him, anyway? Pokemon- My guilty pleasure. But, as you probably already know if you're reading this after looking at my fics, I still find it quite an enjoyable series. I like it a lot, and I have for a long time, and it's going to stay that way. That's all I have to say about that. :) Star Trek- I'm not sure I would actually lable myself an obsessed Star Trek fan, but I deffinately do like it. I like space ships almost as much as I like time travel, but don't worry, I won't be writing any Pokemon in Space fics any time soon. ;) X-Men: Evolution- I'm usually don't get so much into the whole super hero thing, but this particular series caught my attention. What can I say? I like fuzzy blue elves with tails. more to come when I get around to it... |
