Why I Recommend It: This story is a very well written, rather dark take on a continuation of The Legend of Korra, which picks up roughly four years after the series' conclusion. It follows Korra as she attempts to unravel the mystery behind The Hanzi Killer, a serial killer who has been wreaking havoc on Republic City, and who threatens her and the people she holds dear to her. It is definitely a step up from the television series. It is filled with a ton of graphic content and psychological aspects that push Korra to her very limits, as well as her relationship with Asami. I feel as though it is one of the best written Legend of Korra stories on the site, its senses of dread and suspense two key aspects that make the story great. The twist towards the end of the story's first half is a shocker to say the least, as the villain is revealed to be the person you least expect it to be.

Total Reform: The Ephraim Atrocity

Why I Recommend It: If you are a huge fan of horror-mystery stories, then this story is the one for you. It is not your typical Total Drama competition based SYOC. Rather, it takes place after Maxwell McLean, father of Chris McLean, purchases the rights to Total Drama and sets up Total Reform, a private reformatory correctional institute, where 18 at-risk teens are sent to straighten out their wayward lives. However, there is a danger lurking at this facility, one that may be beyond our human understanding. It packs even higher stakes than a typical Total Drama SYOC story. Elimination is not possible, but death certainly is, so each chapter is a real rollercoaster ride of tension. The chapters are littered with so much detail that you probably will have to read it twice just to be sure you haven't missed anything. And I'm not just saying this because my own OC is in it. I'm just amazed this doesn't have a bigger following, as it is probably one of the most underrated Total Drama stories out there.

Nine Minutes

Why I Recommend It: At first glance, it appears to be another "Strong!Luffy" story, but upon further inspection, it is a much deeper story than that. It focuses on an alternate reality where Luffy dies fighting Crocodile in Alabasta, but a miracle saves his life, changing the course of his story forever. Like Crescendo, I feel it is a step up from the original series it is based upon. The character of Luffy goes through massive character development, as well as his crew, which actually grows bigger in comparison to the show. The crew learns more about there abilities and about each other. The stakes are raised to 11, and the action is nonstop and amazing, especially for the bigger fight scenes. Even though it hasn't been updated in quite a while, I still feel it is worthy of being read.

Ed Edd n' Eddy: The Teen Series

Why I Recommend It: This story takes us four years into the future, looking at the Eds' lives in their senior year of high school. This story holds a special place with me because it is probably one of the first Ed Edd n' Eddy stories I got hooked on reading. The characters from the series have changed, but that is not a bad thing. It is a part of growing up, which the Eds and their friends are doing. It also includes some of the authors personal OC's. Their dynamic and hilariously over-the-top personalities drive the story even further. Seeing their own interactions with the Eds and others help give this story a true Ed Edd n' Eddy feel, albeit an adult-style feel. The action scenes are also top-notch, the descriptions being very detailed and precise. Also, it's a story I like to go to when I need to forget that the Ed Edd n' Eddy category on FanFiction today has been reduced to nothing but awful KevEdd stories.
