I love telling stories and I hope that is evident in my writing. I always reply to reviews, because if you are willing to take the time to comment, I want you to know how much I appreciate it. I'm the first to admit my stories aren't perfect, but I hope you enjoy them.

My philosophy: A one-shot is a multi-chapter fic that hasn't yet convinced you to keep writing it. I've been asked before if one of my stories is finished, but I don't think a story ever really ends, that's why we have fanfiction to begin with.

Things I have learned being a member of FFnet and its forums:

1. It is what you make of it… like anything in life. You can choose to be insular, checking your stats constantly and waiting for validation, or you can go looking for it. Join a forum (or two or three). Participate in events. Browse fandoms you’ve never considered before. Drop reviews on people you don’t know, and most importantly, stop waiting for people to discover you. FFnet is a large community, and stories are added every second, yours can be buried in an instant. Don’t judge your worth as a writer by reviews, or lack thereof.

2. Write what you love and ignore the trolls who don’t love anything and are jealous you have passion. Read what you love, but be open to new experiences, new fandoms, and new genre. If you are fandom-blind, treat each story as if they were original fiction. Who knows, you may find something spectacular. Don’t be afraid of ratings — each person interprets them differently (there is no actual standard) and what I may consider adult, may be mild to you (or vice-versa). If your favorite list is made up entirely of your friends and fandom (or your OTP), consider branching out. Don’t be afraid to try new things and don’t exclude things just because it’s… romance, slash, M-rated, a crack pairing, a crackfic, something you’ve never heard of before… try everything at least once (more than that), don’t dismiss something without making sure the one story you read wasn’t just a poor example.

3. Don’t be afraid to review. Even a simple “Love this, update please” will make someone smile — you never know, you might make someone’s day. If you get a review, respond to it (unless it is a troll — responding to trolls only makes them stronger). If someone took the time to review you, they deserve at least a quick “thank you!” Personally, if I review you and never hear back from you, I won't review you again. There are too many people out there dying for a review who will be thankful to waste on people who aren't. If you see something that needs editing in someone else’s story, be gentle. Think about how you would feel getting your review. If someone asks for concrit, balance the good with the bad, but be fair and helpful. Don’t stress out if no one reviews your stories. If you really want feedback, join a forum and play review tag.

4. There will always be toxic people in your life — on here and in reality. You can’t escape them, but that doesn’t mean you have to be friends with them either. If all attempts at reconciliation fail, use the block feature. Be careful not to be whipped up by the vitriol and strong feelings of others. You don’t want to be dragged down the wrong path because you backed the wrong person in a fight. But at the same time, bullying is NEVER right or appropriate. If you back the abuser instead of the victim, you might as well be the one spewing the venom. In the case of bullying, declaring yourself neutral is dangerous too, because no one knows where you stand and everyone doubts you. No one will trust you. Remember if someone feels they are being bullied, they are being bullied. Nothing else is necessary and cyberbullying is a federal crime.
