Author has written 4 stories for Kuroshitsuji, Attack on Titan/進撃の巨人, and Harry Potter. Welcome G'day. My name is Nurture and this is my profile page. I don't know if you landed here by accident or if you were crazy enough to actually come here on purpose. It really doesn't matter. Either way, you are welcome to stay as long as you would like. Or longer. It's entirely up to you really. Who am I? Wife. Mother. Daughter. Sister. Woman. Aussie. Reader. Writer. BookCrosser. Eclectic. Illogical. Emotional. Moody. Changeable. Caring. Apathetic. Conflicted. Boring. Arachnophobic. Loving. Cranky. Fickle. Inexplicable. Me. Favourites Lets face it. You really aren't interested in my favourite colour (purple) or which food would be my last meal on death row (Sushi), are you? You just want to skip straight to the fanfiction stuff, right? When I first discovered the world of fanfiction, I didn't really have any favourites. I simply devoured anything and everything in my path. However, as is usual, I discovered over time that I preferred certain types of stories over others, certain couples over others and even certain fandoms over others. So what are my preferences when it comes to fanfiction? At this point in time, there aren't any fandoms that I outright refuse to read, though I do, of course, have my favourites. The fandom I read the most (by a huge margin) is Harry Potter. I also particularly enjoy reading stories from the Naruto and No.6 fandoms. I also love crossover fanfics, particularly Harry Potter crossed with Naruto, NCIS, SVU, Supernatural or The Walking Dead. There are very few ships that I refuse to read, but I am particularly fond of unusual pairings. I am currently on the lookout for a Harry/Flitwick or Harry/Griphook story, so if you come across anything that fits the bill, please do let me know. When it comes to fanfics, I only favourite those which I feel I will probably read again. I like stories that are well-written and well-edited. I love long stories especially those which span several chapters and I am a huge fan of trilogies and series (especially in the Harry Potter fandom) but I do have a particular weakness for a powerful, well-written short story. I prefer prose over poetry, though I will read poems on occasion and I'm definitely not fond of songfics, as I find the inclusion of the lyrics annoying and distracting. In regards to the actual content of stories, I have absolutely no problem with cliches or over-used tropes so long as the story is well-written. I enjoy reading m-preg in fandoms like Harry Potter or Naruto, where the ability can be logically explained away with magic or some nine-tailed fox ability, but I'm not fond of men randomly getting pregnant in universes where there is no magic (like Walking Dead or Ouran High, for example). I don't mind Harry Potter stories in which Harry becomes a girl temporarily, due to a curse or a potions accident, but I don't really like stories in which he is born female. I dislike reading non-magic Harry Potter stories or stories in which Blaise is female; and I absolutely despise childish Harry. You know, those stories in which seventeen year old Harry Potter behaves like a ten-year-old moe character -- *shudders* -- I. Cannot. Stand. Them. Pet Peeves “You see, Harry Potter wasn’t a normal boy. He was, in fact, a Wizard and he attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. When he was a baby an evil wizard killed his parents and tried to kill him, but the spell backfired and destroyed the evil wizard’s body. Harry was now known as the Boy-Who-Lived and was famous in the Wizarding World. Since starting at Hogwarts, he had had many adventures, the most recent of which …”. Honestly, if someone is reading Harry Potter fanfiction, there is a greater than even chance they have read the books. If they, like me, read a lot of fanfiction, they are intimately familiar with Harry, his life and the wizarding world in general. All we readers need is for the authors to mention, either in the summary or the first four or five paragraphs, a book (eg. Set after OOTP), a school year (eg. Set during 5th year) or a DADA teacher (eg. Harry stumbled, feeling weary and light-headed. Umbridge had kept him well past curfew.) and we will have a general idea of the time-frame and the events leading up to your story. Which leads me to my next pet peeve. Please, please, please give some indication in either the summary or the first four or five paragraphs as to the time frame of your story. I loathe having to read a chapter or two before I find out exactly when the story is set. Finally, if it has been more than a year since your last update, it is tremendously helpful if you indicate in the summary whether it has been abandoned, or is merely on hiatus. It is frustrating not knowing whether a beloved story will be continued or if the ending is to be left to our own imagination. Reviews & Updates I know how much reviews mean to an author so I promise to review every fanfiction I read, even if I can't think of anything to say besides 'I liked it.' or 'Awesome story!' or 'This sucked.' When I write stories, I will attempt to update on a fortnightly basis. When real life interferes or I suffer a bout of writer's block, I may take slightly longer. I may even take a hiatus. But I will never abandon a story altogether. That is my promise to you. Current Stories Selfless Love - This is my first ever attempt at writing a fanfic. Or anything at all, really, besides the odd poem when I was a kid. It is a Black Butler fanfic containing CielxSebastian. It is rated M for future content. The basic gist of the story is that Lizzy realizes Ciel and Sebastian have feelings for each other and, despite her broken heart, she sets out to bring the two together. This is on an extended hiatus as I am re-working some of my ideas. Rest assured, despite the (extremely) long delay, this story has not been abandoned. Recently Completed (this will eventually be the 10 stories most recently completed) Avada Kadavra - This is my third attempt at fanfiction and the one of which I'm most proud so far. It is a Harry Potter oneshot set at the end of the Battle of Hogwarts. It is set in an AU in which Snape is Harry's father and has implied Harry/Draco and implied Voldemort/Bellatrix. It is rated M due to some mild language and reference to rape. Arigato - This is my second attempt at writing fan fiction. It is a Shingeki no Kyojin fanfic, mainly consisting of a letter written by you (the reader) to Armin, and read by him after your death. It is rated T because I'm not too sure if romance and death count as adult themes? Farewell What? Going already? But you've only just arrived! Oh well, I guess I shall see you again next time. I hope you enjoyed your stay (and any stories you chose to read). If you have any questions or story requests, please let me know. And please feel free to visit again. You are always welcome! |
