Some demographics and bio info: I am a 25 year old (at time of account creation) female who has always enjoyed creativity and imagination this site inspires. I am a budding author, avid reader, and movie junkie. My favorite color is blue, I prefer cats, I love the ocean, and am a religious follower of Shark Week. I majored in Psychological Science, and minored in Biology ~ I am a stickler for being anatomically correct, and for mental health responses to situations such as trauma, starvation, abuse, etc. to be accurately portrayed. Some people say it doesn't matter. My career field is working with disabled, disadvantaged, and various other populations in the mental health counseling field, so I live and breathe this every day, and feel that to portray these things less than accurately is dismissive to the experiences of the individuals I work with, and just serves to add to many of the assumptions and stereotypes already out there. |
