Author has written 8 stories for Harry Potter, and Doctor Who. Life, which has always been crazy (hard to avoid when one is mother to a small horde of children), has only gotten crazier as said children get older. Most of my time is devoted to homeschooling the horde and battling the chaos that threatens to engulf our house. What time is left is spent reading, knitting, or writing. That writing is listed last reflects, sadly, the corresponding amount of energy expended on it. So, that brings me to the question: Am I still working on Contact? Short answer: yes. Long answer: Yes, but you may be eligible for a pension by the time you see it finished, if the snail's pace at which it progresses is any indication. I had originally intended it to be a long-spanning story extending through Deathly Hallows, but...that's not going to happen, at least not until my kids are out of the house. Are you willing to stick around for the next two decades, just on the off chance I get my ass in gear? No, I didn't think so, and frankly, I don't expect you to. I will say this, though—I've learned my lesson when it comes to chaptered fics, and I won't publish anything else unless the entire thing is complete at the time of posting. There's nothing quite like the frustration of getting sucked into a story and finding out, too late, that it was abandoned years ago. I hate that feeling as a reader, and it's no picnic from the writing side of things either. I get enough guilt trips from my in-laws, thanks, I don't need the ghosts of old stories ganging up on me as well. A thousand hugs and thank you's to everyone who's reviewed. :) ETA 09/02/2013: Contact updated. |
