FOOD FOR THOUGHT, an essay: As you might already know, there's a lot of reasons to write. You could write to exercise your imagination, or to release your imagination so it doesn't drive you nuts. You could write because you're good at it and you want to share your gift. You could write because you want to show off your talents. You could write solely for yourself and not give a crap about anyone else. You could write to be awesome in the truest sense of the word. You could write because you want to change the world. You could write for love, or for pain and suffering, or for the pain and suffering of love or vice versa. You could write for your friends, family, acquaintances. You could write because you have to, or sometimes because you need to. You could write because it keeps you up at night. You could write because your fingers itch or your brain itches, and nothing else will scratch it in quite the same way. You could write because it aches to keep your dreams too close. You could write because you want to be somewhere else, far far away. You could write because where you want to be doesn't exist. You could write to inspire others to pick up their pens, or their swords, and sometimes there's no difference.
