IMPORTANT NOTE: I am a graduate student in a hard science field (Plant Pathology & Microbiology). This means that while university is in session, I have to spend all my waking hours reading, writing papers, giving presentations and doing research. Oh, and I have to squeeze eating, sleeping and de-stressing in there on occasion too. This means I have very little time for writing fan fiction outside of holidays, breaks and occasionally weekends. Please bear with me as most of my updates will probably only occur during winter and summer breaks for the foreseeable future.

FAN FICTION WRITING STATUS A/O 7-21-2009 - Nitojutsu is the only thing on my plate right now. It has been outlined almost completely, and I'm putting vague thought into the details that need worked out. This is likely to be the next thing updated. This update will likely NOT happen for a LONG time. Thanks for your attention... ~_~

Who am I? I'm a 23 year-old Masters student with low self esteem, a major fan of anime & manga, along with some american comics as well. I'm not a writer or an English major, this is just my hobby. That probably sounds arrogant, doesn't it? Too bad, I'm not taking it out. My other major life accomplishment is that I'm currently a Rokkyu kendoka (lowest grade kendo practitioner- I don't have armor or anything yet).

So, here I am. I'm actually writing fanfiction now, much to my own amazement and shock. I had been completely restricted to original fiction for many years now (try 10) but I'm taking that step forward. Or backward, depending on your view.

About My Stories:

I will write anything for any series I like, but I really do enjoy comedy, romance and fighting. I am the Queen of Dialogue, and it's my favorite part of all my stories. I'm a strictly het fangirl as far as pairings are concerned, but I can and do write yaoi. I got nothin' against it, I just don't seek it out as reading material. And it can be a lot of fun to write.

I'm fiend for the ZoroxTashigi pairing (One Piece), but I also heartily support RyogaxUkyo (Ranma 1/2), NarutoxHinata (Naruto), SangoxMiroku (InuYasha) and ZelgadisxAmelia (Slayers). A lot of these are canon or semi-canon, and quite a few are really underrepresented. Much to my eternal sadness.

FicWar -

FicWar is something like a challenge fic, except that it's a private challenge. I and my friend "angelicyokai" sit down together, usually over food late at night, and discuss fanfiction plot bunnies for various anime and manga. We pick one that we both like, and then the FicWar begins. We set a date to start and a time limit, and then we both take off writing in our separate directions for wherever we want to go with our fics! Same plot, different authors... different stories. Which one do YOU like better, hers or mine?

Too much time in a bureaucratic society... here it is:

It is my policy to write stories true to the actual plot and character development of the original author of the series. If I deviate from these, I will attempt to do so in a believable way, and develop a plot that could, conceivably, have arisen from the original work or original characters as written.

I am AGAINST crossovers and alternate universes/realities for the sake of themselves - if you are going to write a fanfiction, please write a real fanfiction, and not a muddled mess of whatever things make you go "squee!" thrown together in a rotting pile. If your concept is interesting, novel and well planned, with true-to-life characters in a different kind of world, then go for it. If you're just using their names in a random pile of crap you threw together... please don't. I'm noticing that these are all one finds nowadays in our fanfiction archives. I have little hope for the future of writers in the world.

P.S. Self-Insertions = THE DEVIL and the worst possible application of YOUR fingers to ANY keyboard. ANYWHERE. Original characters are fine, but make them believable, realistic and likable please!

NEWS:

A/O 11-6-08- Well, I always reappear in November for National Novel Writing Month, so here I am. Nitojutsu isn't the novel I'm working on, but I am writing for it as a side venture when I get tired of the other (or get writer's block, as happens occasionally). So, perhaps there will be a new chapter or two of Nitojutsu in the near future. Chapter 13 is completely planned out (more or less) and is in the process of being written at the moment.

A/O 11-11-08- Finally - a holiday. I desperately needed this. Technically I should have gone into the lab and done work today, but I just couldn't make myself do so. I really needed the extra day to just relax and catch up on things... graduate school is very stressful, you know. At any rate, I'm still working on the next chapter of Nitojutsu, as well as some one shots. Maybe I'll get something published this evening. THAT would be an accomplishment.

A/O 11-15-08- OK, chapter 13 of Nitojutsu is published, chapter 14 under way. Also working hard on a bunch of one shot fics - I think I'll get one of those done before the next Nitojutsu chapter.

A/O 12-22-08- Chapter 14 of Nitojutsu - Happy Holidays. It's winter break now, so I'll be writing as I feel. Actively working on Nitojutsu a lot - I have ambitions of getting it much farther along, perhaps even finished (gasp!) this break.

A/O 3-31-09- First post of the New Year. Ha ha - how sad. Anyway, I'm outlining the remainder of Nitojutsu, and will likely finish writing the story by myself before I post any more of it. Just to keep you all informed.
