![]() Author has written 52 stories for Kim Possible, Spider-Man, Chronicles of Narnia, Indiana Jones, Phantom, StarTrek: Other, Beauty and the Beast, Misc. Movies, Charles Dickens, Lord of the Rings, My Life as a Teenage Robot, and Animaniacs. I greet you, fellow fanfiction reader, author, web-surfer, and traveller on the road of life. I am the Compleat Kim Possible Ignoramus (as I state at my Wrybread at Deviant Art page). I have hardly seen a dozen episodes of the show. What am I doing writing K.P. fanfiction? I was drawn to K.P. by the fanart of Richard Sirois, found at Richard's Page of Fanatism, http:///artgallery/kimmy.html and Lionheartcartoon at Deviant Art; and by that time, the show was off the air. One picture drew me: the "Kimmie-kiss" picture; I began to envision a saga--and that was even before I even heard of a thing called fanfiction. How do I compensate for my K.P. Ignorance? I have seen everything that is on DVD: The Secret Files, The Villain Files, A Sitch In Time, and So the Drama. I consult Wikipedia, TV-dot-Com and other sites for plot synopses, screencaps, and dialogue. I glean fanfiction and fanart for hints to episode content. I pick the brains of other fans, like Claudemonet and MrDrP and CaptainKodak1. I am the Glacially Slow Writer. It might be months between updating one of the over dozen imcomplete fics I have posted. I am the Born-Again Bible Thumper. I am a born-again evangelical Christian. Bob and Mark, the creators of K.P., did not refrain from including references to Ron's Judaism in the show, and I will likewise incorporate religious references into my fic's: Christian, Jewish, pagan, and anything else that suits the story. I love heroes--and epic sagas, with towering themes of good and evil, unrequited love, & lifelong duration--leavened with some humor. From Ulysses and his twenty year quest to go home, in Homer's Odessy, to Sherlock Holmes and his lifelong archenmity with Dr. Moriarity (a foreshadowing of Superman-Lex Luthor, Batman-Joker, Spidey-Doc Ock), to Robin Hood, & his hearty companionship with his friends, & esp. his beloved, Marian (Superman-Lois, Spidey-Mary Jane), I'm a sucker for a good romance-&-battle-soaked epic saga; I'll throw in "Four Feathers", "Star Wars","Lord Of The Rings", "The Ten Commandments",and "Ben Hur". Kim Possible & Ron Stoppable seem to just naturally fall in that category. What I consider my centerpiece(a WIP) is my fanfic "K.P. and the Lionheart." Richard Leo Harte is based on Richard Sirois's character, Richard Lionheart. I envision Richard Leo Harte as a warrior and poet; he is Cyrano de Bergerac, Don Quixote, and Aragorn. Ron Stoppable is his best friend and Kim Possible is the object of his chivalrous affections As to the character's names: Richard Leo Harte is based on Richard Lionheart; the spelling of the last name is derived from the novelist Bret Harte Richard Lionheart's sister Helen (based on Helen Sirois) is the inspiration for Daphne Miranda Harte. I envision two alternate plotlines for Richard Harte. One is to become the "Unkillable", a character like the Punisher. The other is someone called the Coeur de Lion (Lionheart) less violent,a Sojourner Truth, of Underground Railroad fame. My story intro's will reflect whether they are of the Coeur de Lion or the Unkillable timeline--or are "Rich"less. Some background info: I have given a last name to Yoriko from Yamanuchi: Yoriko Kansume, derived from CaptainKodak's fanfic "The Lotus Bloom." I have given a last name to Ned, the annoying Bueno Nacho asst. manager: Ned Flounder. Why? Because he seems to do just that: flounder. I have given a last name to Tara, the quiet shy blond Maddog cheerleader who crushes on Ron: Tara Sweetwater. Why? Because it reflects her sweet nature. I have even given a last name to Erik, Kim's synthrodrone "boyfriend" in the "K.P.-StD" movie: Erik Drake, derived from Dr. Drakken, his creator. Rich and Daphne's birthplace is Kenjijen, Japan--fictional. Yoriko's birthplace is also Kenjijen, and therefore is a childhood friend of Rich and Daphne. Her parents are Akiro and Rina Kansume. Akiro's father is Ichiro, a storyteller. I will draw lots of examples from stories Ichiro tells, like Yotishune and Momotaro--Japanese folk heroes--consult Wikipedia. I will quote books and poets, like Shakespeare, up the wazoo--because I feel like good books are character-building things, so part of what made Kim, Ron, Rich, Daphne, Yoriko, Wade, etc. such heroic people will be these inspirational books they read as youths. I like the idea of one of my favorite writers, G-Go, of Indiana Jones being James Timothy Possible's fathers & therefore Kim's grandfather. With his permission--hopefully--I will incorporate it into my stories. I have assigned the names of Abraham and Rachel to Ron's parents. I have portrayed Wade Load's mother as a pastor, choir director, community activist, and widow; Ophelia Mahalia Load.) Like my fellow fanfic'er MrDrP, if you leave a review /comment / note, you will get a comment back--sooner and /or later Gentlemen, may we all find our Kim, and having found her, may we be her Ron. THAT WAS THEN! THIS IS NOW! SPRING 2009! Divorced. My withdrawnness reached a critical mass. And that was that. Jobless. Living in a 1room efficiency with no TV. Aha. You thought I would say no running water Since TV is going digital, I don’t have to join the throng. Missing my family and home something awful. If I had the chance, what would I do different? Dunno. That’s the gosh-awful thing. I’m a complete emotional recluse. I have one outlet--and that’s writing. My Compleat Kim Possible Ignorance is a thing of the past. Thanks to Itunes and Facebook, I am catching up on episodes. I plan to become as familiar with the show as I am with the Bible, Lord Of The Rings, Chronicles of Narnia, and Shakespeare. Channeling my inner feelings into my stories--like A Heroine’s Legacy--Girl In A Box. I guarantee you will get the drift if you read even just a bit. Unhealthy? Name your poison. Porn? Booze? Dope? Gambling? Spending? Texting? How many self-destructive, self-absorbed forms of behavior in society? Mine will at least be creative. I will struggle with the great themes. God. Redemption. Good and Evil. Love and loss. Suffering And out of that, I will distill some meaning, pull some thoughts and insights, and share them with you in ways I find compelling. And I hope you will find them attention-grabbing also. I wish to answer all the dozens of reviews my readers have left me in the past few years. I’m still Glacially Slow. Gonna take a while. I close with my old tagline. I was tempted to take it down, because I failed so miserably in the keeping of my spouse. But I leave it up. Because it’s true. People not only need to HAVE a partner. They need to BE one. Gentlemen, may we all find our Kim, and having found her, may we be her Ron. And I add these additional gems. From one of my readers, screaming phoenix: “The boy who hates school so much, is well unto his way to his advanced degree in the care and feeding of Kim Possible.” From the Good Book: Jude 1:24: “Now unto Him Who is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, to the only God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.” 'Cause--face it--even if you find the love of your life, but never the Lover of your soul, what good has it all been at the end? My DeviantArt tagline: Hail the Lion of Judah--and the Lion of Narnia. And as the Latinos would say--Vaya con Dios. Go with God. SPRING 2010 Hmm. I wonder if the world ( or FF-dot-net) will come apart if I alter my penname ever so slightly. My old moniker was derived from my email rye-dot-bread. But the formatting at the website here does funny things to words with url-looking features like dots; it erases them. And I’m ok with that. In all seriousness and with all due respect, are not we all here at the courtesy of the website owners? Website management is like school cafeteria food prep; a thankless task and the target of frequent and customary badmouthing. But: my username. Moi, the Glacially Slow Writer, Randy B, is now Rye-bread. That might make it easier for those folk who cite me as an example of admirable (or disreputable) writing in their posts. And, as usual, vaya con Dios. |
