![]() Author has written 9 stories for Harry Potter. Welcome! I'm a Canadian gal who enjoys good port and long walks on the tundra (just kidding! the tundra is fucking cold). Despite still getting asked for ID at bars, I'm actually thirty six years old. I read a Dramione story by accident a few years ago and never looked back. I recently had a baby and so I'm not online as much anymore - apologies if you tried to contact me! I now understand what mom brain is. Most days I forget my own name. Are you on Tumblr? Me too! I'm heymanticore and sadly I can't link to it from this site because that would MAKE TOO MUCH SENSE. Please use The Google to find me there. August 2014: You may have noticed I posted a new one-shot and then it was deleted... Thanks ! I've put it on Archive of Our Own instead and that's where I'll be posting smuttier things from now on. I would include a link but this site won't let me as usual. I'm Galfoy on A03. xoxo Have I mentioned that I have some crazy-awesome creative readers? A Matter of Taste has been translated into German! So cool! First off, Static has been translated into Slovac. DUDES. Thanks to the amazing Jimmi for that. Look at this poster masterpiece from Oxfords. Merci pour l'appui! Static in Spanish!! And this awesome drawing by Elizabeth Hellbound (I think you need a DeviantArt account to see this one): The Boy in the Hammock - Draco and Hermione This kick-ass poster from LilacRosez: The Boy in the Hammock - Poster And this smokin' drawing by the lovely emobluedinosaur: The Boy in the Hammock - Hermione in the bath My friend Verime made these wicked posters: You guys are gems. I get a lot of similar questions / comments in your awesome reviews and messages... So here are a few answers for you: Do you write anything other than Dramione? Actually, I don't! Since I have so little time to write, I stick to what I'm most passionate about, which is Draco and Hermione, with the occasional visit from my two favourite BAMFs, Lucius and Narcissa. I love your strong female characters! Thanks! I was pretty heavily influenced by the riot grrrl movement back in my formative years (haha, feels hilarious to type that out), and I've held onto that mindset ever since. Rebel Girl is a way of life, y'all. You should check that shit out. Why did you choose the name Galfoy? Somebody asked me recently if I was trying to combine "Granger" and "Malfoy." I wasn't. I was combining "gal" with "Malfoy" because it made me laugh. Actually, it still makes me laugh. However, the best comment I've ever received about my name was: Whoah, that's so cool... did you know your name rhymes with Malfoy?? Yes poppin, I did. Where do you get your inspiration? Sometimes from sad things (people dying, breakups, stress), sometimes from happy things (lurve), and sometimes I just really want to write about sex. Okay, usually it's the sex thing. Are you going to write a sequel to any of your stories? I don't know if I'm a sequel kind of gal... I like the idea of letting the reader imagine how the story will play out afterwards without me having to dictate it. That said, I've read lots of great sequels, so I imagine it can be done well. Just not by me. Ohmygawsh... Your smut is smutty! Thanks! I actually consider it to be fairly tame, so if you're not down with that sort of thing, you may want to skip over the steamy bits. I come from "the dirtier the better" school of thought, and I have zero shame about it. Could you please write longer stories? The short answer is no, but only because I don't want to suck. I try not to force myself to be wordy. I like my stuff concise. Isn't that [insert anything here] unrealistic / insane / too OOC / unlikely? Meh. Dramione fans believe in the impossible (well, WE don't think it's impossible, but you know what I mean). In fact, some of my favourite fan fic stories completely push the envelope and flip canon on its head. Obviously I like Hermione and Draco to be in character as much as possible, but there's a bit of room for interpretation as to how that plays out as they age. Really, as long as the writer backs up their plot and makes me believe it, I'm down. I would like to send you a link to my artwork / blog / other interesting thing I made. You creative little minx! Since this site has a spaz attack every time you try and send a simple link, hit me up at galfoy [at] gmail [dot] com. (Edited to add: this is really the best way to reach me if you want a nice long answer to a question! I'm accessible though this site and Tumblr, but they are sometimes inconvenient for real conversations.) Honey, you swear a lot. Fuck yes! ALL ABOUT THE SWEARS! In real life I look dainty but sound like a goddamn trucker. Care to share your secret to daily posting? Embarrassingly enough, I think the daily posting phenomenon developed because I have a staggering lack of patience with myself. Writing a WIP over the course of a year would fully guarantee me abandoning said WIP, and honestly, I couldn’t handle being judged by that piece of writing every damn day. No, it’s really much better if I just force myself through the literary meat grinder and churn out a stupid amount of writing in a short amount of time. As I said: no patience. Essentially, it works like this. I write about a half of the story, feel moderately confident in how I want to end it, clear my schedule and my social life for a few weeks, and start posting. I write during my lunch breaks, I write before and after dinner, I copy edit my writing with a bright red pen wherever I can and whenever I can. Sometimes even on the bus, eliciting shocked stares from people who read over my shoulder and have the good fortune of grabbing an eyeful of smut. Serves them right. I personally feel the world would be a better place if everyone read about Draco’s arse on their way to work. Not guaranteed to improve your focus, but will most certainly improve your libido. Anyway. I use the feedback from my totally amazing readers to spur me on when I’m doubting myself (self doubt hounds me when I’m writing all hours of the day on very little sleep). Come to think of it, it’s quite likely that I wouldn’t go this route if people weren’t so amazing with their reviews, but so far everyone has been crazy supportive about commenting like motherfuckers when I’m doing the real-time posting. THANK YOU. It really does make the difference. |
