Author has written 31 stories for Sherlock, and X-Files. I appreciate great storytelling in all mediums, whether classical or contemporary, no matter what genre. When it is great, it takes on a life of its own, giving pleasure to audiences, generation after generation. Before I was old enough to write, I scribbled cartoon "illustrations," usually singing and humming while I drew, as I retold for my own entertainment stories of my favorite characters. The more I learned about fairy tales, Classical mythology, the Brothers Grimm, Nancy Drew, Edgar Allan Poe, scifi, and tv shows with interesting character relationships, the more I sketched picture stories in the blank pages of school composition books. I grew up thinking I wanted to become an artist so I could continue illustrating the wondrous images the authors' words created in my head. The allure of film was hard to resist. Television and movies became a constant source of inspiration. Their visuals combined with musical score enhanced all aspects of storytelling and made me one of the few television viewers (this predates syndication and DVR) who loved watching summer reruns of my favorite shows. The more I rewatched, the more I discovered. The better crafted the show, the more discoveries I could make. After the original Star Trek series of my impressionable youth, my next and greatest obsession was The Hobbit and LOTR--everything Tolkien. (I am seriously dating myself here when I say this was before it was popular.) However, because of Tolkien, I chose to pursue my college studies in art, linguistics, and English literature, and my graduate studies to learn more from the sources of his inspiration...Medieval literature, philosophy, and history. (Beowulf: The Monsters and the Critics Essay by J. R. R. Tolkien was a significant game-changer for me.) Working as an artist for a short time, I sold my paintings at Star Trek conventions, but after a while, it felt as though I was giving away my "children." (Copyrights didn't apply. Once sold, artists no longer owned their own works.) Plus, with the sophistication of special effects for television and movies and the introduction of CI, my hand-eye coordination was no match for the magnificent renderings of new technologies. Writing replaced my paints, pencils, and pastels as the medium of practice. My education in literary criticism (spanning classical works, medieval texts to the moderns), my employment as a Medieval English Literature profession, later as a college textbook editor for a big publishing house, and after starting a family, my subsequent employment as a writer and photographer as a public relations specialist, helped me hone my own writing skills. Now comes the delightful freedom of fanfic...created for our own entertainment. Here I find original and clandestined loves from my past as well as the fabulous newer inspirations that have given me new obsessions to enjoy, (Star Trek, The X-Files,and Sherlock are my all-time top favorites!). Fanfic is the proverbial candy store! So many stories, so little time! As an American, more specifically a life-long New Yorker, I beg forgiveness to any of my readers for my attempts at writing stories that may be out of my sphere of knowledge, and I welcome advice and guidance, if you spot any such mistakes in idioms and expressions. But most of all, I want to thank fanfic audiences for allowing me to retell and share my favorite stories like when I was a child. Can you hear me singing and humming? A.N: The Sherlock stories listed below have been categorized by casefic or introspective-character study and are in chronological order according to the episodes' timeline and seasons. Only the dates at the end of each synopsis tells you when I actually wrote the story. All I can say is that later works are an improvement over my earlier works, (let the reader beware) but so as to get the general feel of my perspective of this BBC Sherlock Universe, I am not deleting any stories from this fanfiction site. I hope this guide will be helpful in introducing new readers to this series of fanfiction stories. Wynsom 7/22/2018 888*888 Original Casefics: Canon compliant with BBC Sherlock and written BEFORE Season 4 BBC Sherlock: Working Backwards A look backwards: About a year before TRF, Sherlock and John share an adventure to discover the connections between a ghost story and the case of eleven inebriated men. At the same time, the detective and the doctor discover significant connections between their working relationship and meaningful friendship. No fluff nor slash, but insights abound. As usual, all disclaimers apply. Borrowing the time frame and characterizations from the BBC Sherlock series, this little fanfic tells their enduring story. I hope you will find the ending justifies the means. Please enjoy. Based on an "unfinished tale" referenced by Watson in ACD's "The Problem of Thor Bridge," this story is set more than a year into the partnership of the BBC characters. Published: 2/1/2015 - Updated: 2/1/2015 - Complete 333333 BBC Sherlock: The Case of the FLAT-OUT Adventure The enduring relationship between Sherlock and John can be seen in many subtle ways; how they work together, how they play together, how they understand each other, and how little they need to talk about it. Not a mystery, but an ADVENTURE, this fic examines the nuances of these extraordinary characters on what might be considered an ordinary day. Takes place before TRF. One shot: This is a story about a detective and his friend, not a detective story. At 22 Northumberland Street, Sherlock and John sprang from Angelo's Italian restaurant when the taxi pulled from the kerb-and thus commenced their first adventure as partners. This one-shot pays homage to the "lightness of being" true friends in an enduring relationship. All Disclaimers Apply. When "BLUD," to all intents and purposes, seemed to have failed the detective in THE REICHENBACH FALL, John Watson chooses to soldier up, face their enemy together, and summon the courage to protect his friend. This series revisits the tragic scenes in TRF from John's POV. So what prevented the cleverest man in the whole world from delivering even one word to let John know he was alive? (As usual, all disclaimers regarding ACD and the BBC series apply.) Scenes and Subtexts from The Empty Hearse. What were John's thoughts after discovering Sherlock was alive? What were Sherlock's after John's rejection? Each chapter inserts words not spoken that explore how their friendship survives The Fall. (Faithful to the BBC series with some liberties.) This fanfic occurs in that split-second when John convinces Sherlock to pick a case. Comically played by Benedict and Martin, this moment is IMHO a precursor to darker events to come in HLV Published: 8/20/2014 - Updated: 8/20/2014 - Complete 333333 BBC Sherlock: MISSING PIECES Remaining faithful as possible to BBC Canon, these 3 chapters are my FIRST fics—apologies in advance—and were written to fill the 'in-between scenes' that IMHO were sorely missing from HLV. Originally one-shots entitled GO Home (1,2.3), cause I didn't know how to make chapters. SO PLEASE read this MISSING PIECES instead of the Go Home series as this linked version is updated in small but significant ways. Again apologies for my earliest attempts at Fanfiction. ;-( Chapter 1: Will Wounds Heal? A "missing" conversation between Sherlock and John Watson that could have taken place in HLV. Sherlock wakes up again in the hospital after collapsing from bleeding internally at Baker Street in the aftermath of new revelations between John and Mary; Chapter 2: Another conversation between Sherlock and John "missing" from Season 3, His Last Vow (episode 3). Wounds may be healing. Sherlock has returned to Baker Street and is secretly planning to raid Appledore. John finally opens up about how he's managing with and without Mary since Sherlock nearly died. Chapter 3: During Sherlock's incarceration, Mycroft, John, and Sherlock shared hopes, regrets, and heal wounds of misunderstanding. The context of John's and Sherlock's exchange offers a basis for their albeit very restrained final meeting at the air base.
