Hi there! I'm Athese.

I'm currently 20 years old, and I'm from the Netherlands. I was raised with Dutch as my mothertongue only, so I'm not English in any way. I, however, have followed an IB programm (Advanced English and stuff) during my high school years.

So right now I can speak Dutch, my mother tongue, English, French (I could xD) and German. Trying to learn Spanish without taking classes, so far my motivation is my biggest downfall. But I really like languages, so I pretty much memorised a few Japanese, and other songs in different languages.

Even though I'm not fully billingual, I still kinda consider myself one. I think in English, and I often prefer to formulate an answer in English.
I saw this post on IG a few weeks back, and I think it perfectly describes being billingual. "Billingual culture is that you can understand a phrase immediate in either language, but when someone asks you to trnaslate it, your brain just stops working and you just die" Which is.. kinda accurate. I could be stuck on the easiest word to translate, and I would not be able to translate it even if my life depended on it.

So how the heck did I end up on this website? A few years back, 2009 or 2010 or something, I was active on a Dutch social media website called hyves where I wrote stories, until Hyves got cancelled.
2 years later, the 2k12 TMNT series premiered in the Netherlands. Funny enough, my friends started talking about it, and I remembered watching the 2k3 series when I was younger. So I watched that series. And I got all sorts of Nostalgia after finishing it, and I started watching more old cartoons like Avatar and Danny Phantom. I discovered Fanfiction because of Danny Phantom actually.

After reading a shitload of stories I decided to give the 2k12 series a shot. I thought it looked childish and stuff, compared to the 2k3 series, but holy shet. I fell in love with it almost instantly. It was the first fandom I felt so emotionally drawn to, enough to start writing fanfiction. And the rest is history yay.

So my favourite turtle, surprise surprise, is Mikey, which is probably why most of my stories are about him I totally adore that littl' goofball. Especially because I theorise him being such a complex character, not how they portray him in the show. So in my stories you won't see him like in the show, in my stories he's more serious, he's the most skilled ninja (Or could be), and generally just no screw-up but still being like a sort of comic-relief. The last half of season 4, and especially season 5 did him so right.

My favorite cartoon version is a tie between 2012/2003, but I grew up with the 2003 series, so that one will always be special to me, and I liked how that series got a lot darker than the 2k12 serires. And I like the amount of violence in that one! :D At least they weren't afraid to show tears, or serious injuries.(And you can prob guess why I liked these last episodes of season 4 of the 2k12 series so much) *Casually waiting for Mikey to get hurt in the cartoon/IDW*
