After many years of waffling on writing my own fanfic, I finally decided to start posting my stories. I will only post those that are completed. One of the worst things as a fanfic reader is to come across a fantastic story only to find out the author hasn't finished it. So my promise to my readers is to only post what I finish. I have many stories floating around my head, but I started with Invictus. It is something I had been working off and on over the last five years and have debated heavily on whether I should actually post it. (IMPORTANT: Read the Author's Note at the beginning of Invictus
Excerpt from Guardian interview with Tolkien in 1968: This, to him, is a rich and wondrous realm filled with beauty, peril, joy and sadness – to be relished for its own sake, and not dissected. So, naturally, he resists the earnest student who tries to read “meanings” into the Ring. “The book,” he said, “is not about anything but itself. It has no allegorical intentions, topical, moral, religious or political. It is not about modern wars or H-bombs, and my villain is not Hitler.” Coming soon! Patria: This is the sequel to Invictus. It's taking shape. As it is very involved and has many threads it's taking awhile to write. I'm also working over 50 hours a week so that takes away time I would spend writing. However, the story is coming along. Check below for updates! Digressio: A short interlude after Invictus. It picks up right after Invictus and is something of a "teaser" to tide you all over as I write Patria. Raspberry Jam: A not-so-short short story about Orophin and a mortal woman. Haldir's brother awakes to find himself injured and alone in a strange place. His unlikely hero is a mortal woman who makes the most delicious jams. A friendship is born, and Orophin discovers the enchanting allure of mortal-kind. But when darkness from the east threatens his heroine, the tables turn and he finds himself her hero. Pre-LOTR. Completed. Invictus is complete. I am slowly going back through it and fixing all the typos, dropped articles, and other mistakes that got left behind. That being said I will be writing a sequel to Invictus. (You all may rejoice.) I will need several months (or more!) to write it all out. As promised, once I start a story I will finish it. And in my case, I will not start posting until the story is either completed or just a few chapters from finished. However, once I get that story going I shall post a preview. I have many plot bunnies to write out as they have been breeding like crazy! The Latest: 08/16: You'll never believe it but I published a thing! As promised, I wrote a short "teaser trailer" to the Invictus sequel. As of right now, I am still writing Patria, but Digressio, which means "parting" or "separating," is a short in-between story. It picks up where Invictus leaves off. I am still working on Patria, but hopefully, this will give you all something to enjoy. I am also continuing to work on Patria. 08/13: Hi friends! So some very good news. But first, I've started posting Invictus to Archive of Our Own, so if you hang out over there you'll be able to find me by searching for TigrisIgnis. I will be posting over here first though. Secondly — I've written something that won't really fit into the sequel. (It was bogging down.) So! I have something of an interlude tideied you all over a bit as I continue to hack away at own Patria. It doesn't have a title yet, but I hope to get it up very soon. I just need make some edits first. What Lana looks like — to me. If you're wondering what Lana looks like, I envision her looking something like Sienna Miller. But you can have your own vision of her. That's cool too! ;) I keep intending to create fan art for this story, but I never seem to get around to it, though. o0o About me: I enjoy fanfic inspired by Tolkien's works. His world is so rich with story possibilities that I keep returning to Middle Earth. My favorite characters are the elves. (In case you couldn't tell by all my favorited stories!) I'm particularly fond of Legolas, Haldir, Rumil, Orophin, the sons of Elrond, Elrond himself, and Glorfindel. I'm on the hunt for good fics about Thranduil as well. I love historical fiction, fantasy, and bizarre Wes Anderson-like stories. Favorite authors include Diana Gabaldon, Tolkien (duh), Jane Austin, and W.B. Yeats. Strangely enough, I prefer movies over books (the shock!), but I'm a visual-audio person so it makes sense. I write purely for my own entertainment and artistic development. I like words. And languages. If I didn't have to work then I would probably go to school indefinitely--but skip all exams. Learning is awesome! Exams — not so much. I am greatly inspired by classical Greek and Roman mythology, and I have four years of Latin under my belt. I also have two years of French, a semester of Irish-Gaelic, and a semester of Italian. Long story short — I am not fluent in anything other than English, but I have a lot of foreign words bouncing around my head. I can read Greek but I have no idea what anything says. Other notable things: I love cats of all kinds. I prefer chocolate over vanilla, and I drink tea like it's going out of style. Blue is the best color hands down and I like my men tall dark and handsome (or elvish!). I grew up on the West Coast of the US, but have lived all over the place. I'm a deplorable surfer but enjoy it nonetheless, and I've been belly dancing for over five years. Prior to that I used to perform Irish dance (holla to my Celtic roots!). I have a Bachelor of Arts and a Master's degree. I get to do what I love for a living which is a huge blessing, but I still find time to play in Tolkien's Middle Earth when I can.
