I'm old enough to know better, but like another addict we know, I just can't stay away from it. Cravings kick in anytime I get near a fanfic or AO3 site- got to have a dose of Sherlock or the mind just goes haring off on a tangent. American born, but lived in the UK for more than half my life- so, I can do my own Britpicking, thank you very much. I am really old enough - like twice the age of the average Sherlock writer, but I have always been a writer in my professional career. Now I am teaching social media amongst other things at a unversity, so I suppose that's my excuse. All addicts have excuses- anything to keep them away from the sanity of rehab.

I also take the whole issue of canon and adaptation to modern environments very seriously. I follow the line of thinking best understood as Sherlock being on the autistic spectrum, who does not need to defend or explain his behaviour to an allist world. This helps explain, enrich and inform the character of my favourite detective, whilst at the same time showing us all the need to be more tolerant of diversity, and self aware about our own prejudices.

Start with my one shot, Talking when You're Not There, to understand the world according to Sherlock, and why he feels things differently. Talking when You're Not there Revisited is John's POV, Still Talking is both of them post Reichenbach.

I try to write long stories that have a detailed, complicated plot, and which try to fill in the gaps between episodes. I write most of the story first, before I post, so I can update regularly, and keep your interest going. Between long stories, I write series of one shots or shortermulti-chaptered pieces that show character and humour- this gives me time to keep working the longer plot lines, without annoying regular fans of my writing. Nothing more annoying in my book than someone who gets you hooked on a good story and then disappears for weeks on end. If you are interested in beta work, then do PM me. Warnings, however- I am a grammar nazi (LOVED Sherlock correcting the murderer in Belarus!) and I constantly correct the grammar and word choice of my university students. I've been accused of being a "cerebral" writer; that means I think a lot before I start writing, I work hard to make my writing accurate and content rich, and I write about what characters are thinking.

The story lines are character consistent, and it helps if you read some of them in chronological order. Start with Collateral Damage, then SideLined, then Crossfire. A slight deviation with Musgrave Blaze, but its sequel De Frag brings it back to the same chronological order. Level Up is next.
