Author has written 5 stories for Tenchi Muyo, Azumanga Daioh, and Kim Possible. Umm... I'm Dr. Rex Greylin... uhh... I write stories...? (Sorry, I'm not real good at writing about myself in an "objective" perspective.) I feel its only fair that I warn everyone here that I don't post here, on deviantArt (http:///), AO3 (http:///users/DrRexGreylin) or on Fictionpress, (http://www.fictionpress.info/u/478120/ ) very often. (Quality v. Quantity.) And if anyone's interested, I go by "Dr. Rex Greylin" (or variations thereof) just about everywhere. (Google me!) A little about what I write: Works In Progress: One of my biggest pet peeves about online stories is dead fics. Nothing drives me more insane than reading a great story only to discover at the end it hasn't been touched in years. Because of that, everything I post here (or mostly anywhere else) will be complete before the first chapter goes up.No exceptions. Timeframes: Almost exclusively I write continuations. The series/movie/etc. only tells part of the characters' lives and unless everyone dies at the end, they still live on. I try to tell what I see might happen to them after. I also feel I need a frakking good reason to write for during a show. Why mess with a good thing. Pairings: I tend go with the canon ones unless I can logically justify a reason to break them up. That doesn't mean I won't write for a non-canon pairing if the bunny bites, though. Crossovers: "Hey! Let's do a (insert random fandom) meet (insert another random fandom) story! It'll be cool!" I don't think so, Tim. My view is why foul up two good things by trying to make them both better at the same time? While I have read a few that I liked, most were... less than stellar. Unless it's "canon" the participant fandoms can be crossed over (i.e. Buffy/Angel, DC, Marvel, etc.), I usually won't cross them. Alternate Universes (AU's): I'm a huge fan of Twilight Zone, Amazing Stories, Outer Limits and the like. There's nothing better than a good "What If" story (Why I like fanfics). If I ever manage to get a good idea for an AU, you bet your @$$ I'll write it. "The Citrus": Yeah... I'm not even going to go there. Don't ask. :-P I also tend to write a lot of songfics (see below). Music is an inspiration to me and I tend to give it free reign. UPDATE (23JAN2013): Sorry I've been missing these past few months but I started college in September and I've been busy with it since. I pulled down "The Black Parade" for a much needed revision and hope to get it re-posted soon. Sorry to all those that were following (all two of you.) I hope everyone has a good new year and I'll try to post and update sooner. Ja! One final thought: Why do people call stories from D&D and most other P&P RPG's "fan fiction?" By definition, when you play these games you're creating an original character in an original setting. Doesn't that mean the stories are original fiction? |
