![]() Author has written 3 stories for Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, Sailor Moon, Ranma, and X-Com. Inspiration comes from the most interesting places. In my case it started with a combination of web comics and a sister who went to film school. It made me pay a lot more attention to what went into the entertainment that I consumed in vast quantities. I began to see things that made me think, not just about what I thought about how they did it but about how I would do it. I had the vague notion that Fan-fiction existed, but never really thought about writing my own. I was too interested in the inner workings of the different medium of writing. Having read books since preschool I focused my interest on writing for a more visual medium. Having made a study of many styles and mediums, I felt content to be able to enjoy what was before me in new ways. Then I found web comics. Penny-arcade was the beginning of a slippery slope that included Schlock Mercenary, Girl Genius, Looking for Group, Goblins, Weregeek, Misfile, etc. Then I found the Sailor Ranko comic. I didn't know it was based on a fanfic until I had finished the archive of the comic. Noticing that it was on a long hiatus(sometimes the death knell for comics, but I guess since that works the same for fics you know that) I was curious to find it had a "Novels" tab, and I found the original work by Fire. I'm going to say this right now... Fire and BurgerBecky...THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT! Ok...I feel better now. In all seriousness the discovery of these works, and by extension the Fan-Fiction Dot Net site, are directly linked to me starting my own writings. Thank you. Even if you never read what I write know that you had a big role in giving me the drive to do it. Update: My card game is in Alpha test phase, and is fun to play. I have a couple people tossing together some concept art too. Once I get game play smoother I will try to pitch it to publishers. In Fanfic news, I was inspired to work on The opening scenes for Starborn Slayer... I just can't seem to settle on one fic to write can I? Favorite Quotes: "Any sufficiently analyzed magic is indistinguishable from science." -Agatha Hetrodyne "Let me guess: Magnets!" - Col. O'neil "If the apocalypse comes, beep me." -- Buffy Summers "That which does not kill me has made a tactical error." -- Captain Tagon Completed Stories: Reflex- Ranma one-shot This is what I get for writing the dream I had at 4AM Stories in progress: Kasumi the Vampire Slayer = RanmaBuffy the Vampire Slayer The last thing Kasumi Tendo was expecting was to become the one and only Slayer... Children of the Sky = Sailor MoonX-com UFO defense When hostile aliens attack Earth, the Senshi must band together with the best our planet has to offer! Leap = Quantum Leap crossing with anything I feel like... Someone didn't appreciate what project Quantum Leap did for...er...TO them. Ideas for the future: Dimensional Breakdown Mega-cross... Many have tried...still no reason I can't try too! Some fun ideas about certain "first meetings" even if this never gets made into a full blown fic I'll probably write up the meetings as an Omake Series. Jedite's return. Never felt the guy got a chance to show off his combat prowess. Always seemed to me Queen Beryl got frustrated when his warm up act didn't work right. This time he doesn't have to give up any of the power he collects either... Well enough alone. Nabiki goes off to college and finds out some secrets are more trouble than they are worth. (either a series of one-shot crossovers or perhaps longer stories for some of them. Depends on Inspiriation) Friendly fire. Artemis gets caught up in the Senshi's line of fire, Nurse Mina to the rescue! Transfer Student. An American exchange student is coming to Hogwarts. Bad timing, as Voldemort has risen and learning to survive is not on the syllabus! Cute and Fuzzy Cockfighting Seizure Monsters. Pokemon fic. OC trainer departs for his journey, only to discover it's hard to rough it when you are a "city-boy". Harry Potter and the White Lord. Harry realizes that while Dumbledore does want to win, he is holding too much back. Tom build his power base out of his schoolmates. Maybe Harry should too. (might meld this with Transfer student as a continuation) All Together Now. Usagi has always loved living in Nerima, even with some of the wierd stuff that happens there. Now her cat talks and she can't even tell her best friend Akane about it... Wait, you know Luna? Saving a pair of boys from very strange creatures, Sailor Venus and Artemis are introduced to the Wizarding world due to a case of mistaken identity. The Starborn Slayer SG-1 BtVS cross. A new Apocalyptic prophecy has the Scoobies looking for one specific slayer from the sea of newly activated potentials. But how would they find a girl that wasn't born on earth? The Matrix : rewritten My take on what the third movie could have been. Picking up right after the second, I take everything in a whole new direction. (this was my guess as to what the third movie would be before it came out, and I think it was a better idea. now, I'm going to try writing it...eventually) If one of these ideas inspires you to write, please do. Let me know when you post it so I can read what you come up with. | |||||||
