Anna Smith, Air Force veteran, works as the English and Mathematics teacher at the local high school in an old coal mining town of Southern Ohio. Her town, old and on the brink of falling off the edge, gets a surprise when industrialist and secretive entrepreneur John Bates rents the room above Grantham Bar.
