Author has written 27 stories for Twilight, Elfen Lied, Harry Potter, Tenchi Muyo, School Days, D N Angel, Bubblegum Crisis, Dragon Age, Legend of Korra, and Supergirl. Once again it's been a millennium since I've updated this. Just got my master's in Accounting and applying for my PhD! So I should have loads of free time to write. Though recently I've been getting really into music fests and performing with my best friend. Also has anyone read SHIP IT? ORIGINS: Hawke and the Wilds Extras I will be posting some artwork related to this fanfic soon! Probably a link to my tumblr or something. Finally got back into my account so expect some links up very soon! In other news, I'd like to flesh out the ideas and reasoning behind Morrigan's sexuality in my fanfic. I had a guest user post a very interesting and valid position of being thankful that Bioware had not made Morrigan like Leliana because, if that had been done, our Hero of Ferelden may not have had his happy ending. I'd simply like to offer my opinion on this matter by addressing first Morrigan's sexuality and secondly the implications of that for our Hero. Not too long ago, Bioware's Dragon Age characters were accused of being playersexual, a term that I picked up from a scholarly article I had read during my research and methods course (I can't recall the exact one, but I know I have it saved somewhere on my computer, PM me if you'd like a pdf of it). Playersexual was a term used to define characters who seemed to lack a definite sexuality, instead it was completely dependent on the player's preferences. It is true that most of the characters are open to a relationship with your protagonist, but something about the term playersexual definitely rubbed me the wrong way. It assumed that the gay, bi, queer identity was somehow visually marked; in other words, the characters should have been portrayed "actually" gay somehow. This assumption, in and of itself, is born of a heteronormative lense, and is proven wrong by the mere fact that queer individuals are in fact just people. Some of us have short haircuts, some of us have long hair, some of us wear caps, some of us wear lipstick... you know kind of like every other person on this planet. I don't mean to say that people don't use specific physical visuals to mark their sexuality, but I am saying that, more often than not, you wouldn't know my sexuality merely by looking at me or even by talking to me. In regards to my take on Morrigan, I wouldn't say she's necessarily bi-sexual. In fact, I never really saw any of the characters (regardless if they could be romanced by a same/opposing sex protagonist) as bisexual. I believe that Bioware did what they did in the hopes that LGBTQ gamers would feel accepted versus feeling tolerated. They may not have come up with the perfect solution to that (by making almost every character's sexuality fluid), but they were on the right track. Now back to my take on Morrigan, in my tale she is drawn to my female Marian Hawke and later to her distant Cousin, Daylen Amell. In a sense, she is drawn to the same spirit that these two embody, and that's honestly the truest depiction I could have for Morrigan's sexuality. Last but not least, I suppose I should tackle how Morrigan's sexuality, had she been "like Leliana," would have affected Daylen's happiness. First off, it would be somewhat archaic to believe that bisexuals cannot have healthy relationships merely because their dating pool is larger than those who prefer only one sex. Bisexuals are no more prone to cheating than anybody else, so I'm sure Daylen would have been just fine... plus do you all remember how many gifts he had to collect in order to romance her (lol)? I mean seriously, (depending on your choices) he went and slew her mother for her. I'm sure Morrigan is of enough substance to not take Daylen's affection and devotion for granted, regardless of her sexual preferences. However, it's not her sexual preferences that drive this tale of mine, and that is what makes this so much more interesting. Then the question is, what happens when you fall in love with a soul found in two separate bodies? And that is all I have to say for now my fellow readers! Continue to enjoy the rest of the fanfic!
